It's a knee-slapper! I particularly enjoy Agent Smith's comedy bow-tie and Morpheus never missing an opportunity with his squirting flower!

Don't forget when Thomas has to choose between being pied with the blueberry pie or with the strawberry one.

    Memento vs The Wicker Man

    Rear Window vs The Shining

Monty Python's Life of Brian vs The Dark Knight

    Spartacus vs Men In Black

Mad Max: Fury Road vs The Blues Brothers

    Good questions.

Even if you mean the good (Cageless) Wicker Man, I think I'd still put Memento. Wicker Man is very good but also very 70's.

The Dark Knight over Brian. In part because the Loretta part hasn't aged well and because of the random alien abduction in the middle.

I'm tempted to say Rear Window over The Shining, but I haven't seen it in over twenty years. I can't comment on the other match-ups because I've never seen Spartacus in full (though I will eventually) and have only seen Fury Road and Blues Brothers once apiece and ages ago.

I've seen few of her movies, but I would suggest: Julie & Julia and Arrival.

I second Arrival. You haven't done a Denis Villenueve film yet and it's a good one. J & J's also good but probably a better showcase for Meryl Streep as Julia Child (and a redux episode for her, if she gets one) than Amy as Julie.

For her early career maybe her Night at the Museum film; for her more recent stuff, maybe Vice, the (notorious) Dear Evan Hansen, or Enchanted's sequel Disenchanted.

  4. Jaws.

Only seen Psycho once and I've seen Amadeus many times, but I think Psycho probably beats it for being a tauter film, and while both make excellent use of music, at the end of the day I prefer an original soundtrack over a mixtape (so to speak) or a succession of needle drops.

Not seen Inception since our FCF episode or ever seen a Shyamalan film in full, so I couldn't possibly comment.

Please, I'm trying to listen to old eps of Bigger On The Inside and most of them are gone - through to the Capaldi era!

PLEASE tell me I can still get them all!!

Have you tried listening to them via Spotify? I was able to do a re-listen of most of the Classic Era episodes (Episodes 30-90, to be precise) through their iPhone app and didn't have issues downloading or listening to them there.

  6. Whilst it's tempting to nominate Catwoman, you covered her reaction to the films' critical panning and her Razzie nomination pretty thoroughly in the original episode. I'm gonna be equally evil, then, and suggest Die Another Die.

As for the others, maybe the bonkerthon Moonfall for her recent stuff and Father Hood for her early work (which will allow Pandy to talk more about Patrick Swayze).

The Elite Four member named Will is, of course, incredibly gay. I approve.

    Good! 😄

Here's the next batch, featuring more Kanto evolutions and "baby" forms, the rest of the Johto's gym leaders and Elite Four, and the Rocket Execs!

Hoping to finish the remaining characters and Pokemon in the next week or so.

  8. Wonka: Still processing it but as of now think it’s probably the most consistently strong of the Wonka films. It’s easily the most visually innovative and least cynical of the three, though not without a few dark Dahlian characters and scenes. Chalamet, the actress who plays his sidekick, and the supporting cast are all great (especially Olivia Colman and Paterson Joseph). It won’t be to everyone’s taste but overall I really enjoyed it.

  9. Started this batch in July and hoped to have it done by the end of the year. Not quite there yet (mainly since I still have the legendaries and two key post-game characters to finish), but I'm mostly done nonetheless.

As with the Kanto/Gen I drawings, these Johto/Gen II ones are on 18" x 24" sheets with the relevant Pokemon and key characters drawn to scale (1 in = 1 ft). "Baby" Pokemon with evolved forms first introduced in Kanto (like Pichu and Cleffa) have their immediate evolved forms silhouetted in color behind them. Meanwhile, those that are evolved forms of Kantonian Pokemon (like Crobat and Steelix) have their previous forms in black and white (or more accurately gray) pencil behind them. Because most the gym leaders and Elite Four members of Johto have aces from Kanto, I positioned the ones guilt of that next to what I thought would be suitable Johtonian alternatives for them (ex. Falkner w/Hoothoot, Bugsy w/Spinarak, etc).

Here then are the first four (our of eleven) sheets, featuring the starters, the protagonists, the professor, and the rival, along with @Koete's favorite Pokemon and @dc20willsave's Johtonian namesake!

  10. Favourite Featured Actor: Orson Welles

    Favourite Review: Good Will Hunting

Worst Movie Covered: Chasing Amy. Admittedly I've not seen it nor have I seen Pearl Harbor in ages, but based on the reviews, Kevin Smith seemed to have weaker grasp of lesbianism than Michael Bay did of what happened at Pearl Harbor.

Best Feedback: Pandy's cluster emails of randomness (esp. the one buttering up yours truly). Honorable mention to Donovan's MP3 re: Ben Affleck and Dan's feedback re: Boston and Good Will Hunting.

    Favourite Jingle: Culture Corner

Most Anticipated DIRECTOR for Next Year: Paul Verhoeven. Ideally a double bill of RoboCop and Showgirls.
