  1. The character mostly was (outside of like 100 cameos) but at least they're trying to prevent burn-out now with going bi-weekly.

Whatever the method, if it keeps him around, I'm happy.
  2. To get out of jury duty, I need to mail them a copy of my new Georgia driver's license, which I don't have.

To get a Georgia driver's license, I need a copy of my birth certificate, which I don't have.

To get a copy of my birth certificate, I need a utility bill for my current address, which is changing because I'm moving.

It's like I'm in a 90s adventure game and I haven't found out how I'm supposed to use the broom and bucket to open the door.

At the risk of trivializing your plight, that last sentence made me laugh.
  3. Just saw it and I was in heaven throught the whole show. REALLY damn fun.

Love Clara, LOVE that the face is back in the titles! Love the retro TARDIS again, love the more mysterious angle with the "taller on the inside" staircase, the whole thing was fantastic.

Everytime they pulled the "Doctor WHO?" gag I imagined Dan Toland falling over. I liked it at the beginning though when it resulted in Matt Smith going "WHAAA??!" right before the title sequence.

And yeah, I wouldn't mind if Clara and the Doctor got romantic together. She's extremely smart and inquisitive, and carries her weight in a manner where it makes sense for 11 to like her in that way. By the end of the episode I was practically shipping them.

This episode was delirious fun, enjoed the hell outta it.

It was really good. I'm looking forward to seeing what they're going to do with this.
  4. I would like to share my thoughts on the subject for what it's worth.

It's sad that apparently it sometimes takes the murder of innocent people to actually acknowledge just how awful human nature can be. History shows that there have been horrible people throughout the world, and they are always the ones who end up getting the attention. It's not as interesting to show the nice man who held the door at the bank for an elderly woman than it is to show the man who robbed that bank and killed the teller.

But, as it should be, bad sadly isn't, apparent to all, strife, chaos, and injustice is the norm. Not goodness, kindness, and charity. We like to think of Hitler, Stalin, and Mao, who killed 100 million people between them, and think that most of us are not like that. But we forget that they had tens of millions of people who willingly, even eagerly followed them. Many of them supported, and even encouraged it.

Humanity is not by its nature good. People, guided by ethics and morals, can be indeed very kind, and accomplish great things. We can end suffering. We can free millions from the oppression of dictators. We can even end the slavery of millions. But that is not the norm.

Therefore, we must not remember the names of killers, but rather damn them. We must remember those who suffered the injustices or tragedies such as what happened on Friday. We must also raise people who do good, who follow the better angels of their nature to higher level, and give them the recognition they deserve.

  5. It seems like most of the marketing for Man of Steel is there to counter the mainstream perception of Superman being a goofy cartoon character. Thus far, it seems to be working, as a lot of non-comics fans have said they're surprised to be so interested in a Superman movie.

If they throw in a frakton of flying/punching into the marketing right before release, they can keep the geek crowd happy too.

If it works, I'll be happy too. I'm not saying I think it looks terrible. I just want Superman to be Superman, and not The Red and Blue Blur.
  6. I'm reminded of the WFP review of the STAS episode "The Main Man", when Superman fought Lobo. Mike's comment on the episode was that it was so much fun, that being big science fiction action. In my opinion (and I'll be the first to admit that it might just be mine), a Superman movie should be that first and foremost. If it isn't, then all the great writing in the world will still leave it falling a bit flat. So far, I haven't seen that yet in these trailers.

  7. Hardly unprecended. Wolf 359 comes to mind.

I was thinking that as well, but this implies destruction on Earth. The only comparable events would be the weather disaster in The Voyage Home or the Breen attack in DS9 Season 7. From what's been implied thus far, Into Darkness is like Wolf 359 combined with the Breen attack, doubled over again.

That almost seems to mirror the Zindi attack on Earth from Enterprise.
  8. Great for them!

Also, I've long thought Prince Charles will step aside so William can be crowned King, and I think this will make that happen. A young King and Queen with a child of their own, or an old man with his mistress as his wife? England will want the former, I think.

This. I've noticed that talent seems to skip a generation in the British royal family.
  9. Yeah. That a man who has dressed as a Squirtle can get married gives the rest of us some bit of hope.

I don't know. I wouldn't want to wear a Squirtle costume at my wedding. It wouldn't be very comfortable wearing walking down the aisle.
