There hasn't really been any mention of what the Doctor went through at the end of 11. We're currently dealing with a Doctor who hasn't travelled for 900odd years. He was stuck on a planet as their only protector and now he's out and about again and that would have made a hell of an impact. Which hasn't been mentioned yet and I think it's probably important that they do.

So... the Doctor pretty much straight up murdered that guy, right?
The first army guy? He was dead as soon as he shot those prongs.
I agree, it wasn't that the Doctor murdered that guy, he killed himself. It was the fact that the Doctor just shrugged off the death and purposefully used it in a way that gave the others hope that he would be able to save him. It was harsh but I thought it made it clear that he was a different person to 11 and that we would have to get used to a less caring Doctor who didn't make promises to try and save everyone when he knows he can't.
11 would have tried to work out a way to save him and then got angry when he couldn't. But then I can also clearly imagine 11 pushing the clockwork dude and I don't know if 12 did.

Really enjoyed this weeks episode, Clara is starting to grow on me as an actual person and not just a plot point and whatever each episode needs her to be.
It was a brilliant Dalek episode.
I hadn't realised we were going to meet Danny so early and I like that he's an ex-soldier just like Ian was. It's going to be interesting seeing his interaction with 12 due to their different opinions on what it means to be a soldier. I can actually see him and Clara getting along naturally and what we saw of it it wasn't forced unlike some relationships we've seen in the past 50 years.
That scene where he cried I thought told us a lot about his military history and what he's like a person. Seeing someone who has that view about innocents being hurt could really make an impact on the Doctor and his lifestyle. My heart broke when Gretchen died and asked the Doctor to do something good and name it after her, although that 'Welcom to Heaven' scene compelety ruined the mood. I get that they are trying to keep the story arc going but it just didn't fit in this episode at all. But I'm not sure it fits in with any episode, it clashes too much.

So as I've got a day off from the games in Glasgow, I've decided that I'm going to visit the Edinbrugh Fringe festival for a day (It's one of the biggest culture/comedy/arts festivals in the UK and goes on for all of August.) I've managed to get tickets for both of the doctor who shows. The first is called: Crap Time Lord, and the second: I need a Doctor; the whosical.
These can only be good fun!

I don't get why he's getting so much flak for doing it, he didn't script it and it was just a bit of fun. Matt Edmonson - the radio presenter - has done a couple of them and it's not meant to be anything more than a laugh.
Good for Arthur, besides it's not like he can't sing he was on Broadway and and is just about to finish in the West End

So I don't read the comics but I really enjoyed the film.
Electro wasn't the best villian and I felt like Harry Osbourne got lost a bit at the end but hopefully they'll do more with him in the ASM3 or 4.I'd go see it again, but due to uni it doesn't look like it's possbile.

Here's the link to the youtube video of the Doctor Who Proms when they sang that amazing song.

Brilliant, thanks. I've heard Holy Terror - Frobisher is awesome! The other ones are now on my list (although I own Light at the End and the Rocket Men, I just haven't listened to them yet)
Also the companion chronicles series 1-4 are currently on offer - £5 for a CD or Download

Thought you guys should know that Dark Eyes 2 was released yesterday from Big Finish. It's an AMAZING story and well worth listening to, although you do need to have heard Dark Eyes 1 first.
Also today they released a new Companion Chronicle an Ian one, called the Sleeping City and it tells the story of what happens to Ian and Barbra when they return home from travelling with the Doctor.

I've recently got heavily into the Big Finish stories and I was wondering what ones you would recommend - about from Spare Parts, I've heard that one and it deserves every recommendation everyone gives it.
-
If you were writing Doctor Who were would the companion ask the doctor to go to?
I've always wondered why no one has asked to go "second star to the right and straight on till morning" I'd love to see where they would end up.
(when I'm writing Doctor Who in 10years time that's whats going to happen - you heard it here first folks [unless another writer gets there before I do and if that happens, 3rd star to he left and straight on till lunchtime!])
-
Thanks, I had been warned in advance about how bad it was going to be but I honestly didn't think it would be THAT bad

Just wanted to promote my advent project this year, I'm watching a different Christmas film every day and reviewing them.
I started with a couple of good films but I've also been forced to watch a rubbish one and an ok-ish one and I would love to have some feedback on my blog.

It would be brilliant if you could go and have a quick look, today I'm watching the 'true' story Thomas Kinkade in the Christmas Cottage.

So on the topic of what I want to see in Doctor Who in the future (one of the many emails)
NON-CONTEMPORY COMPANION!!!!!!! I want a companion from the past again (I really thought I was going to get one with Victorian Clara)
-
I love how that now means we've got Zygons woundering around earth, we can have fun with that in the future.
Also I know how Moffat has said that Capaldi is going to be 12, but I think it would be really nice for him to accept the number 13, because the Doctor at that point knows that Hurt's Doctor really was the Doctor. But I'm also aware that would screw with many peoples minds, going from 11 to 13 in with no sense of a 12.
Plus if anyone wants to confirm that they understand the story they should have to explain it to a 10 and a 15 year old... the amount of questions is endless but I am certain that I understood what was going on. It was brilliant and a proper episode and not just fanservice.

Have people in the UK seen how much Big Finish is on Radio 4 extra - I've got them all set to record, only my parents are complaining about how much space it's going to take up on the box

So not only was the minisode brilliant it's also made my 15 year old cousin interested enough in the 8th Doctor and is palnning on borrowing my Big Finish CDs so he can listen to more.
Well done Mr Moffat by offically tieing the audio books into the universe, (and solving birthday and Christmas presents problems for my family)
-
Why McGann wearing the film costume? His Big Finish one is really nice and different and suitable for a man running from a war
-
I think a lot of people were hoping that this was what it was going to be but no one was expecting it today.
Which was a brilliant move of the BBC because we were all wating for Saturday, everyones more hyped than they would have been to see it.
-
So I'm having to watch this in the computer room at uni cause my laptops being fixed and I may have forgotten to be quiet and got a few odd looks. But when I said Doctor Who minisode lots of other people went to watch and now discussion on Doctor Who is flowing around the room and no ones really bothering to work
I love how the Time War has got to the point that people think that Daleks and the Time Lords are just as bad as each toher, it reallyshows the reach and the effect the Great Time War had on the universe and not just on the Doctor.
And Big Finish is now cannon - even if it's just the 8th Doctors stuff - which is a huge thing and means hopefully they'll get more money coming in as people rush to find out about these other stories.
Plus this regneration is officially not the Doctor, and his level of acting when he came to the decision to change who he was is completely brilliant.Oh and I need to tell people who care and would find it awesome what I'm doing on the 50th, lots of my friends are like 'that's nice...'
I've got tickets to the Doctor Who Experience, and the TARDIS Tour. And then we're gonig to see a privte DWE showing of the Day of the Doctor followed by an after party on some of the sets with costumes from the episode there as well... and when I spoke to them on the phone they hinted towards actors potentially being there as well.
9 days to go guys, let's try not to explode with exctiement while waiting
-
Ok - I promise to go looking.
Thanks for kinda clearing it up, even if it is to say that I've not missed anything.

So I've just come back from seeing it (and bare in mind I've not read any of the comics - although I do plan to start at some point) and I really enjoyed it. It seemed to me the Marvel was at it's best again as Iron Man 3 really wasn't good.
Loki was completely and utterly awesome
that scene where they are flying away from Asgard and the two of them are arguing is brilliant. They are just brothers at that point, enjoying the argument and the banter.
Also it's going to destroy Thor when he learns aout Loki being alive, becuase he 'died' a good man. And what's happened to Odin? But I have a question, what's the deal with Jane's character - I don't get it, she doesn't seem to have any character past being the love interest and it annoys me. Please tell me that I'm missing something important here
I get that she's supposed to be a scientist but that's just so she meets Thor. But seriously, she knows him for about a week and then goes all mopey and does nothing FOR TWO YEARS because he left her again, and doing nothing includes not doing any of her work to the point where her intern needs an intern. SERIOUSLY????

Tickets booked - couldn't get the cinema I wanted because of a problem with thier website but I didn't want to risk going back to find they had no tickets. So I'm seeing it in the centre of Cardiff instead, which means we have to leave the experience a bit earlier to get across town.
But I don't really care cause it's all sorted now and I can stop worrying and ranting and just work on my costume
-
I'm a happy fan, the cinema closest to the experience in Cardiff is showing it and my tickets for the experiene came in the post today.
That's my day sorted, I'm imagining a large group of people walking from one to the other in costume or at least with long scarves (I'm dressing up as Ace)

First trailer for the Day of the Doctor on BBC1 tomorrow night.
Should be good, hopefully we'll get the time and then cinemas can sell the tickets

I enjoyed it, it didn't do what I expected it to do and I think Moffat has proved that he is still able to write good stories, (which is why he volunteered for the cheap episode).
My only issue is I've got to go to work and be alone tonight in a hotel where everyone else is asleep. That's not going to creep me out in anyway shape or form... AND there's lots of sudden creepy noises from the vending machine and the freezer.
