  1. You know the thing I love most about Civil War? The fact that they're (in wrestling terms) turning Tony Stark heel while not changing his viewpoint or his character. The entire thing is being done based on existing character traits. That's by far and away the most interesting thing about it.
  2. In the 'Tony Stark bastadry' file, a beautiful tidbit from 'Civil War Files' (which, if you haven't read, is a run down of all the major characters, from Tony Stark's files to the President). paraphrased from memory: 'I thought I had Peter's complete trust, but it appears that he is still hiding things from me. It turns out that he has some sort of inherent 'early warning' ability when danger is near. I only found this out THROUGH THE MUSCLE MONITORS IN HIS SUIT.' Emphasis mine. Stark's monitoring Spidey, and the suit is allowing him to find out secrets about him.
  3. Pssht. You and your fancy logic.
  4. Spend £20 a week, usually, so about 30 dollars.
  5. Superboy Prime. Now give me my cookie. And recommend Fell, you bastard.
  6. Good show - I like the idea, and it worked well. With the shorter length though, how come this wasn't a quickie? Small nitpicky point for you - Gaiman is pronounced gay-man, not gi-man. He once quipped about how he had received a standing ovation at a gay rights occasion he was speaking at, purely for having his name pronounced correctly when he was introduced.
  7. Not necessarily. He said it was regrettable - but Cap is a wanted fugitive right now. What's he going to say, 'yeah, the laws a bunch of bullshit?' It would have to be tempered.
  8. See, for me, it was all about the real terror I felt during the first half of the movie. As stated during the review, the second half, with the monsters, didn't do it for me. The frenetic action and all that was cool and I think the transition between the two parts was smooth overall, but I'd rather it have been more like Open Water. This wasn't a great film by any stretch of the imagination, but I thought it was solid enough to garner a three out of five. And I'm glad when listeners don't agree with us: it generally turns feedback into a discussion (RE: DW and Silent Hill, Jacobi and Black Panther, you and The Descent). Let's not forget your unfathomable love for '28 Days Later', which is down in the gutter for me with the Night of the Living Dead remake from the early nineties.
  9. Quick thoughts: ACTOR changing their name makes perfect sense - their name did sound like a charity for actors. The director of Cabin Fever was Eli Roth, who also directed Hostel. Neil Marshall directed The Descent, and also directed 'Dog Soldiers', which if you haven't seen, you should - it's superb. The Descent was a film that I thought was too shallow to be enjoyable - Dog Soldiers would have been similar if it wasn't for the fact that DS was damn funny. Also, the Irish girl REALLY got on my nerves. 'Oim filmin' everytin', so I can stick it on myspace, coz I'm just so x-treme, y'know, loike how oi live on de edge, loike, all de toime, just coz i'm so x-treeeme'. And finally, the ending (the UK version) was a complete rip-off of 'Brazil', for me. She's not been able to escape, so she retreats into a fantasy. Really dude, between your liking of this, and your bizarre, frankly unfathomable love for '28 Coffees Later', as much as I enjoy the show, I sure don't listen to it to agree on your thoughts on horror films...
  10. Definitely confirms someone dying, anyway...
  11. Interesting little titbit here from Cable/Deadpool #31 CABLE: This isn't a game anymore, Wade. I went to help them on a mission. One of our members was killed. DP: Wait a minute - serious - not by one of us good guys...I got a six hour lecture on not capping anyone! CABLE: Someone forgot to tell that to Thor. Later in the issue, Cable is talking to the President. CABLE: I watched a good man die PRESIDENT: That was regrettable.
  12. I was annoyed by exactly the same thing in BP - It's feeling hugely as if Hudlin only has one story, which is about racism. It was feeling tenuous in New Orleans where we had Panther teaming with Blade and Cage - just felt slightly overdone at that point.
  13. Well, the remake of The Wicker Man is in cinema's now....
  14. Annoyingly, this has been held back, due to the Great Ormond Hospital suing Alan Moore. Moore's primary defence is that their rights only covers stage adaptations (apparently), and besides - these stories are about fictional 'real people' who 'inspired' the characters. Should be one hell of an interesting court case. I'm debating pre-ordering this. The more I read about it, the more I'm getting really interested.
  15. First things first, check the disc on a friends machine. If it isn't working on either, than it's probably the disc itself, which will help your argument with Square. If it's working fine on the other machine, it's probably your machine - how long have you had it? May be worth giving Sony a ring, because I know in the UK you can usually get a cheaper console out of it (reconditioned, but the horror stories about reconditioned PS's is overstated - I used to work for Sony Playstation Tech Support, and we shared a building with the factory). I was checking about the disc, DW, because while they're sold together, that doesn't mean that mistakes at the factory can't happen.
  16. If it was, then neither of the games would've worked, instead of just one of them. They're both on the same disc? Fair enough.
  17. Just off the top of my head, could this be a region issue?
  18. Yoda, I said already that I was drunk when I sent that. No need to embarass me by posting it here.
  19. Oh man, that's an old one. Thanks though. I really should do parts #2 and #3 of that. And you're right on the Plug thing. My memory betrayed me. Damned age.

For those readers in the UK, TESCO is selling a couple of episodes of this at 97p for two episodes. I saw them in there yesterday.
  21. Thanks, Yoda - let's see if I can answer your questions. The 'supes KOing Hitler bit' happened on the covers. They had stuff happening at the time in the covers which weren't happening in the comics - especially on the covers of 'Worlds Finest'. Kellogs weren't Klan friendly, but the Klan believed that they were very powerful, especially around Atlanta - an early form of pressuring the market (the PTC, for a more current example). They hadn't really tried something like this before, and Kellog's just told them where to go. Stetson, to the best of my knowledge, never received any Klan-led retribution. And there are more in the way of hard figures in 'Freakonomics'. I tried very hard to not quote too much from the book, particularly in a way involving numbers, since it would have felt a touch too much like plagiarism. It's a good book, incidentally. Incidentally, Yoda cut a small section of the comic, which was basically a paragraph or two of me going off on a tangent about 'Preacher' - which was completely the right call to make. If I'd made my point better with it - which was that even now, comic books can reinforce things like how the Klan are perceived, and my own perception of the Klan being coloured (no pun intended) by the 'Salvation' storyline in reacher - then it would have been okay to have kept in. As it was, it was clumsy, and that was a great editorial move.
  22. Okay, this week coming, you guys have THE HIGHLIGHT of the entire season. The episode 'Dalek'. When you think Daleks, think the UK equivalent to Klingons, or The Borg. A piece of our culture. These things have been about since the 1960s. And, for the last twenty years, they've largely been a joke. This was their reintroduction. And they kicked ass. This is all you need to get up to speed. The Doctor has referred to being the 'last of his kind' due to a Time War. Rose is the Doctors travelling companion. THAT IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW. This has been referred to by critics as one of the best single episodes of SF in the last decade. WATCH THIS. Seriously. It is awesome, and it is entirely stand alone.
  23. Having watched it once, and liking it purely on a technical viewpoint, I shall now have to go and look again. Loved the images-to-lines stuff. Worked really well. Now I have an idea of the story, it might work even better.
  24. I don't often listen to the radio. It's probably depressing. Hell, our daytime TV celebrities are Richard and Judy. It's depressing.
  25. Clicky clicky I found this MP3 - a nice, relatively in-depth interview with Alan Moore. Funny stuff.
