I am sure I had heard of her before this, but my first clear memory of her was the song "We don't need another hero" in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. She was a courageous woman, and an inspiration to many millions of people.

I never knew that. I would have preferred that ending. It makes more sense in the context of the story and the brain damage Rocky suffered over the years. They set up the brain damage angle and did not follow through.

It was good to hear you and @Dan get back into talking about Star Wars, I have the half-dozen podcasts where you covered the original trilogy and prequels saved to my hard drive. I don't hate Episode II like you guys do - I enjoyed all 11 of the films quite a bit - but it was fun to listen to. The toxic fandom hate of Episode VIII is ridiculous. As I said before, I think people were imagining SJW stuff that was not there.

Rocky V: Rocky should have died at the end. They set up the brain damage angle, and then there are no consequences for getting punched in the face repeatedly, slammed into things and slammed to the ground. Rocky and Tommy are allowed to have an extended, brutal street fight at the end of the movie and not one cop shows up until after the fight is over. Rocky is not arrested despite the fact that he was also a willing participant in the street fight and assaulted the stand-in for Don King. It's almost like there are no police. All of the emotional weight of the brain damage was undone by Rocky Balboa 16 years later, though I can't blame this film for what comes after it.

Hope you feel better soon. I had almost no respiratory symptoms with COVID-19 last summer, but I had nausea, fever, and body aches. Almost identical to the symptoms I had with the second dose of the vaccine, but not as bad.

While Governor Schwarzenegger beating up the child abuser in Kindergarten Cop was meant to be an applause scene, it also continues the glorification of vigilantism in Hollywood, a right-wing populist theme I have ranted about on these forums before. And what makes it worse is that the Governor played a police officer. No sympathy for anyone who hurts a child, but we have due process for a reason.

Started to watch The Mist. Interesting seeing three Walking Dead actors in that movie, though I really wish Melissa McBride had gotten more screen time. I hated it when I watched it a decade ago. The anti-Christian propaganda irritated me and I thought the ending was unnecessarily bleak and cruel. I wish there had been one actual Christian in the store to shut down Mrs. Carmody by quoting the Old Testament's condemnation of human sacrifice in Jeremiah 32:35 and the kings of Israel and Judah who were condemned because they caused their children to "pass through the fire." (They burned their babies to death in sacrifice to Molech.) ************** ************** Edit: Finished it. I was curious if it was as bad as I remember. It is worse. I hate it as much now as I hated it when I watched it in 2011.

I marked out when I saw the guy from the Ikea employee videos was in this one. Good to see him getting work in the movie industry.

Plane - Better than I expected. Seeing Mike Colter reminded me I never did finish Luke Cage. I just re-listened to the Tranquil Tirades episode on this one again this week. Dubs said that since this apparently is a spin-off of Batman Returns, "What a way for that series to end." Twenty years after Halle Berry's Catwoman, the Michael Keaton version of Batman is back, in The Flash this summer.

I saw JW2 a while ago, but haven't seen 3 or 4. Again, watching out of order because it was a Redbox rental. John Wick: I had a Beagle for 13 and a half years, and a Beagle / Rat Terrier mix for 16 and a half years. Both died of old age, one at 15 and the other a month shy of turning 17. If you want me to hate a character, have him hurt or kill a Beagle. But it's also cheap heat, and I don't need to see it in movies.

Glad it wasn't the Saudis.

League of Super-Pets: This was fun. The people who made this love lampooning Batman.

He does seem a little overly defensive. I started it but haven't finished it. The nice thing about stand up specials is that I can listen via my Bluetooth headset while doing dishes and cooking dinner. My tuna casserole turned out nicely.

Bad Boys - ESPN Films: 30 for 30 Watching Dennis Rodman cry when he got his Defensive Player of the Year ward was touching. Best moment of the documentary.

I didn't mind the changes to Hush and Red Son, but I hated the changes to Long Halloween.

Legion of Super Heroes (2023) Other than that, it was enjoyable.

Baron Corbin has been de-pushed again and WWE feels he has no real potential for star power. The problem is not Corbin, but the booking. He gets a little push, then he is made to look like a clown, and then falls back down the card. Rinse and repeat. Obviously the fans don't take the character seriously when he is pushed, as there is no confidence that he will not be booked like a total loser again in a couple months. But despite the incompetent booking, the higher-ups will never admit they are wrong. It is a testament to Sami Zayn's charisma that he has endured being booked like a clown for years and is still in the hottest feud in WWE right now.

Skyscraper: And The Rock will lay the smack down...

I do hope Sami main events Mania and wins the title from Roman. Last year it seemed like Sami was shoved into the Bloodline as a lame hanger-on and wannabe, and would just be their gopher. I think that was always the plan, but he got over despite being booked like a loser. WWE is known for burying people the fans desperately want to see in the main event, and I cannot imagine it will be any different with Sami than it was with Cesaro and many others. I am used to being disappointed.

I had enough points to get a free rental from Redbox, and I knew a lot of people liked this franchise, so I figured I would give it a try. I would have had to pay to rent the others.

Clerks 3: Maybe I needed to be a fan of this franchise in the 1990's for it to connect with me. It didn't. Maybe I needed to see the first two in order to get this one, and I have not seen them. I haven't seen any of the movies in this series, so this probably wasn't the best jumping-on point. Anyway, I didn't like it. At all.
