Alpha Flight's first issue was great. I've never been a huge fan of the team, but I gave that a read at the store the other day and was floored by how good it was. I really enjoyed the reluctance on the part of Northstar. Don't know why, to be honest, but I really enjoyed that aspect of the book.

The new Moon Knight book has been great so far. The last series was awesome, but I really like the new one. You should try the Marvel Digital Comic thing. I tried the trial that came with MVC3 and ended up signing up for a year. The only complaint I have is the speed at which they get newer stuff out, but that's really it. There's a ton of great old stuff up there.

So, I've been back for a few days now, and I noticed that there is not a lot, or any, talk about Marvel going on. So, since all I read at the moment is Marvel (aside from the odd DC book here and there at the book store) I thought I would start a thred to discuss what I am reading, and if anyone else is reading stuff from Marvel, they can contribute as well. Should probably just start with the big story of the moment, Fear Itself. I know that the whole "big event book" has been done to death, but I have found myself enjoying this a lot more than I did Secret Invasion or Siege. I feel like things are actually happening in these books, as opposed to something happening at the end of the story. Also, I think that the use of tie ins has been more well done than in the past. I actually went back recently and re-read the Secret Invasion tie in issues for the New and Mighty Avengers, and really hated them. It felt like there was a real forced tone to the stories. Same with the Siege tie ins. I have actually enjoyed the Avengers tie ins this time around, as it allows the story to be told alongside the main book as opposed to jamming a story in the crossover for no reason. Journey into Mystery has been another great tie in book.

So, I don't read DC at all, but I read the first two issues at Barnes and Noble the other day, and I kind of liked it. I'm kind of a sucker for alternate time line stories, so there is that, but I thought the first two issues were well done.

Secret Avengers is already one of my favorite books right now. This is just icing on the cake.

Not to be a total douche, but it was JLU, not S:TAS. And it was a great episode, and book. Favorite right now is Walking Dead. I recently got into it, and have read through the first 6 trades in about a month and a half. Just greatness. Favorite single issue: Uncanny X-Men 244. the first appearence of one of my all time favorite characters: Jubilee. A close second is the original G.I. Joe silent issue.

JRJR. That's it really.

Oh no, I loved the book. LOVED. I abhor the thought that they are going to fuck it over by making a movie out of it.

I finished this book this week, and was disappointed as hell to find out it was going to be a movie. Terrible.

Yeah, I can't wait for Rage. That should be great. And Resist is something I am looking forward to as well.

Fucking amazing series so far, and as a big Marvel fanboy it pains me to say that this is kicking the crap out of Secret Invasion. I'm so glad to have stuck with this. I think it helps that the only tie ins I have read were Submit, The Legion one, and the Requim one, and the only other DC book I read is Batman, so the continuity issues don't really bother me, because everything in this book is going along a-ok.

Grayson's Creek. That's what they need to call it, Grayson's Creek.

I thought Lil Leaguers was tremendous. VERY touching at the end and a great way to look at Batman and Superman.

I knew that the artist had seen it, because he put the whole thing in a blog where he was complaining about some reviews and wanted to show some positive ones. I don't know if he's the one that wanted it on there or not, but I know that much.

You're welcome! All kidding aside, I know I don't come around here much anymore. Truth is I'm embarrassed by the way I stopped contributing here and things of that sort and I have always felt bad about that, so I kind of lurk and post here and there. That being said, this is the most awesome thing ever. I'm going to buy a copy tomorrow and probably frame it so you can see the back cover. How sad is that? Anyways, I needed this today. Awesome.

Given that she is carrying a copy of new Avengers and a recent annual, is it at all possible she was there for Spider-Woman, since I don't think Wasp was in that particular issue of New Avengers?
-
Maybe Will Smith was going to do a reverse Robert Downey and go white for the movie.

You have to read it first. I've read through 3 copies, and I never hesitate in picking it up again when it's time to replace one. I probably, no lie here, read it once a month. I've given it has a gift to ANYONE that has expressed the slightest interest in comics, and even some that haven't. I display all my comics in my house, but when someone wants to see one or is interested in just one, that's the book that gets grabbed. You must read it.

The leisurely comic discussion thread
tglancy replied to Aaron Robinson's topic in General Discussion
Well, just tell him that if he starts writing for Marvel, he can just create a story where Peter goes and makes a deal with the devil and gets her back, unspoiled, and it's all good. And the devil doesn't screw him over, either. -
Nova.

Oh good, they are focusing on those classic Duke/Baroness and Scarlet/Ripcord relationships. Jesus.

32 seconds into part two, a blonde girl turns her body into diamond to stop bullets. Fuck. Yeah.
-
As long as it doesn't confuse the hell out of me with references to a character that showed up in the 60's/70's for one or two issues (BAT RADIA LOL OMG!) then I will give it a shot.

Who's the guy with the dummy. They should do that one. That kind of think creeps me out.
