that's dissapointing to hear. the "We Care A Lot" album is my favorite FNM album, they whole atmosphere of that album is just really eerie while still being something you could throw on at a party. but just to show a little Patton love np: Faith No More - Everything's Ruined

While I know it is not a popular opinion, i personally find the Mosely stuff to be far superior to the Patton stuff. I love Mike Patton but I don't think he understood what made FNM work, he kind of turned them into a tamer version of Mr. Bungle. One of only two songs I can play on the bass. A classic. It's one of the only songs i can play slap style. gotta love those open notes!

    Final Crisis

good to know. I was just kind of shocked by that statement. CGS never came off as some sort of didactic exercise in comic podcasting to me, it has always been a pretty open discussion between the various members of the show and the audience. If you don't like the discussion that's fine but the namecalling is a bit much, i don't agree with you all that often but i don't go on other boards and say "that Des Reddick is a fucking prick who hates everything". Not to mention i consider many of the hosts of the show to be good friends of mine so maybe i am biased. But I don't want to derail the thread anymore so let's get back on topic Final Crisis is awesome.

    Final Crisis

Wow, didn't know there was a feud going on. I finally got around to reading the final issue last night and totally loved it. I don't see what was so hard to understand and the hate for this comic is way overblown (It's exaggrating to Bush-hate level proportions). Morrison tried something different, and it went over a lot of people's heads but that still dosen't mean it was bad or that Morrison did a bad job. The first problem is I keep hearing "Oh well it wasn't really a Crisis, they should of called it something else" or "This isn't what a big event is supposed to be like", etc, etc. and frankly those are stupid reasons to condemn a story. The whole point of this story was to destroy the "big event" mentality that comics have been stuck in for decades now, so why should this story read like COIE or Infinite Crisis Pt. 2 when it's trying to break a chain? If as a story you read this and just didn't like it, that's fine but attacking people who did like it and attacking the writer is just plain childish and ridiculous. Not to mention that this is Morrison were talking about, why would you think he is going to write some straightfoward continuity patch thing anyway. Blame marketing and editorial if you want for promising something that you didn't get, but don't blame the story for being what it is.

 Agreed, Morrison has been building this story up literally for more than a decade (JLA, Seven Soldiers: Mister Miracle, etc.). And as Des pointed out, this whole series is exploration on many different levels. I also love how in such a grim story with such a hopeless setting we get to see the heroes at their best and most heroic which isn't something i can't say for other such event stories cough*identitycrisisinfinitecrisiscivilwarsecretinvasion*cough. Morrison is really showing us why these characters are so great, and it all goes back to the original tagline. Heroes Die. Legends Live Forever.

Also, R.I.P and Last Rites were all about how Batman is an unstoppable force even when he is not sentient, I imagine death would be no different. Remember Batman got up and walked out of his grave once before, who's to say that won't be happening again

I don't feel that it is going against his principles. There is a big difference between killing a human and killing a god. Not to mention that it's one thing to sit around and pontificate on what's right and wrong and what a character would or wouldn't do but it's a whole different story actually putting them in a situation where those principles are tested. I personally don't feel that Batman would have anything to be conflicted about or guilty about in this situation, but even so you could interpret that Batman not even trying to dodge the beams is his "guilty aftermath", death was the price he felt he had to pay for killing Darkseid and saving the world. You could also say that Batman knew death was coming anyway if you have been reading Morrison's Batman run, and had been preparing for what he had to do or had his "conflicted lead up" there. I am sure i will just be labeled as a Morrison apoligist anyway, but I don't care that's my opinion.

    Final Crisis

All considering that was a hell of a way to go out. As a batman fan, even if this is the last we see of batman (which it isn't), it was nice to know he went out doing what no one else could do. In one scene Morrison manages to strip away all that "Batman is a facisct" stuff we have been feed for over 20 years in that Batman restored free will back to the people by killing fascism. Batman is the ultimate human, and he saved the world. Morrison talked a lot about drawing a line in the sand with Final Crisis in that it would definitvley start a new age in comics, and i think he just did that right now. The Dark Knight Returns ushered in the Dark Age of comics with a rather facist portrayal of Batman and that lead the way for everything that came after, and the comic world has been living in it's shadow ever since, so it's fitting that this would be the thing to end that age. I know you guys are all pissed about this, and think Morrison destroyed the character and everything but I feel quite the opposite. If Morrison didn't respect the character of Batman, he would of had him stand by and do nothing while Darkseid continued to destroy the world. Morrison dosen't do that, Morrison made Batman a real hero again in the truest sense of the word. And this certainly has a lot to do with R.I.P, Batman faced every demon in his past, and against insurmountable odds still managed to come out on top. That was all preparation for this, the moment of truth and the closing of the first chapter of the Batman. When the Bruce Wayne Batman returns it will be a new Batman, one who beat death literally and with a whole new outlook, and one that is no longer haunted by the demons of his past or the horrors of the future.

  18. I actually liked Resurrection. It's probably my second favorite of the Alien movies (Alien being my favorite), and found the satirical nature of the whole thing quite refreshing for a movie of this type. I will say that while Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a great director, i didn't think he was the right choice to direct the movie (i don't think he quite understood what Whedon was trying to do), and some of the casting didn't quite work. Then again it's been a long time since i have seen it, so my i might think differently now.
