  1. Loc....damn, if Jaymz allows it, it must stand. Something about how he's the complete negative of me and therefore we cancel each other out..blah blah. TMNT 1 is the answer.
  2. Edited spoiler warning into title. I'm up in the air about this one. I'm unsure whether I liked the fact that Sarah got out, or that she basically killed her friend for accidently killing another of the group. I felt like a few details were missing in the movie on the whole.
  3. I work for a large corporate video store, and we have our own branch of game stores attached, and largely, the policies are fairly uniform. In the game store, you are not allowed to buy a Mature rated game if you are under the age of 18. You have to have ID, they have to see ID. End of story, if not, then you're not getting the game. On our side, the rental policy is this. If you're not 18, you're not getting the M rated game without parent permission. This is where the the whole thing breaks down. From the Jump, parents assume that because we rented/sold them the game, that somehow, we're responsible for the content in the game, and that we're going to make up for their mistake in purchasing the game. Something that I've noticed about consumers in the modern world is that they're no longer satisfied with prompt service and courtesy. They're largely used to that, and take it for granted. They feel that if they are not 100 percent satisfied, that someone on our end of the counter must be held accountable for it, when more than 90 percent of the time, the blame falls on the consumer. Since they want to blame the company/store/merchant whatever, then make it damn near impossible for them to buy the game for minors. If they're buying it for their kids and the kid's under 17, don't sell it to them. Explain the rating system, I do all the time, and tell them what kind of content to expect from their title, it's on the back. If they get upset, tell them that too many times, parents put the blame on us in guest service/stores/merchants whatever, and now we've taken steps to stop the fingerpointing at the source. Parents.
  4. Damn good idea, especially if it caters to this crowd. I know after you mentioned In Stock Trades, that's where I went for a TPB, so I trust your choice in ads to an extent.

    PS3 news

A game's price is usually dictated by popularity, really, not quality. But it stands to reason that a game that sucks ass will also not be all that in-demand, and so the game stores are more likely to have a bunch of them laying around. Hence, they offer lower prices on that game's trade-in, since they can't move them. It's not a direct correlation, but the relationship is there. That's what I'm getting at, I guess I'm just used to the way our corporate handles it. The game will fetch the same price, unless we've got too many copies...then we won't take it at all. Then when we've moved a few copies or sent some to another store, we can accept them again, at whatever price corporate dictates.

Where the fuck is everyone going where the quality of a game dictates the price of the trade in? At the Game Crazy here in town (same company I work for), it's all based on time after release, and a corporate value assigned to the game by starting price. I bought a game, opened said game (negates returning the game, devalues to used price), the game is now worth around 65-90 percent of what I paid for it, I keep it a few weeks, beat the game and decide to trade it in, but in those passing weeks, the corporate value has gone down quite a bit, to about 45-60 percent of initial value. It's the way it should be.
  7. I almost went yesterday...but thought better of it, because of training. I might go see it tomorrow, or Saturday, the next day I have off.
  8. Umm...wow. Jack Thompson can go no lower.
  9. I'm sorry, but the "Juggernaut BITCH!" line made me laugh soooo hard. That damn video is hilarious.

    Kratos v Sub-Zero

Quote me on this, no one is more badass than Kratos. No one. Kratos is the badass. He owns Chuck Norris, Jack Bauer, and Jesus. All at the same time.

    Ganon v Kain

Word. KAIN. He ripped off Raziel's wings, and is the legit reason Nosgoth is fucked over forever.
  12. That Wiki is my favorite, if only for the mental picture of Kevin Smith going all Silent Bob on the Superman script.
  13. Thanks a whole lot, I'm heading back over there tomorrow or Friday. I'll see if they have the issues, because the first issue...damn damn damn.
  14. CIVIL WAR: I'm with Yoda. Thought it was appropriate, but really, I'm with the Cap, and beyond that, I have an attachment to Wolverine, so wherever he goes, I will be there. The first issue, which I got today, was damn awesome. I wanted to get some of the back and side story, but the dude didn't really want to help me out much, so I bought my comic and left. I still want the back/side stories though, if possible could someone give me a title to start with?
  15. Without writing a column in this thread (which would clear things up quite a bit, and get some of the fogginess out of the way...I'm going to write one outside this column), Silent Hill, the movie, was a good re-telling of the first story in general terms. Some of the things I really liked were the Otherworld segments, especially the effects during the changes, the little things that tied into the games, which was especially awesome during the very beginning where Rose is running down the forest path and again during the scene where Rose is bleeding in the church which I thought was a not so subtle shout to Silent Hill 3. The reason that Rose and Christopher wouldn't meet up is because the town as Rose is experiencing it isn't the real town, but the town as influenced by Alessa, which is not physically the same as the literal Silent Hill that Christopher was in. I was unclear about why it seemed like Rose got the Jacob's Ladder ending from the game, but at the same time, it was fairly obvious by the foggy surroundings that she wasn't coming out of the influenced world. This movie actually left a good enough opening for a heavily changed version of Silent Hill 2, though I would really be dissapointed with a changed version, seeing as SH2 is my favorite game for life.
  16. Just got done for the night, in Hollow Bastion before Winnie the Pooh. Love this game.
  17. I'd shit myself. The question stands: Is it angry shit pants? Or is it anticipation shit pants? The road to Shit Pants Valley will be traveled.
  18. Wow. I like how she assumes a head shot gets more points, and that the only thing that you're allowed to do in Grand Theft Auto is steal cars and shoot police without reprocussion. I wonder why the so-called adults in this nation cannot seem to form a valid opinion of something they deem as bad. I mean, I can understand people getting upset about the violence and the foul language and getting rid of it in their homes. But to make sweeping generalizations about the game industry on the whole, and ignoring evidence that counters their argument is just ignorant and not helpful. The exception to the rule is always always always overblown here. Violent murders or other incidents caused by video games have some ridiculous ratio like 8 for 20+ years of existence, which trumps alcohol and porn, the two things that a Mature rated game are often times compared with.

    The Boondocks

That, I agree with. It's just the facts, I mean, it's similar (but at the same time not so similar) to family, in that if someone calls your brother a name, you don't like it, but if you call your brother an asshole, it's not so much a problem.
