  1. The Thin Blue Line-Errol Morris' documentary of one of the most compelling and intense stories of a murdered cop ever, told in the MOST FUCKING BORING WAY IMAGINABLE!!! What a boring pile of shit. I will never understand why this is so widely lauded. The only entertaining part of the film is when a guy who talks about how he has total recall and then immediately goes on to doubt whether or not the car he saw was blue. That was some good shit. But it's buried in this clinical mess.

Are you sure people didn't mix this up with the much beloved "The Thin Blue Line" sitcom starring Rowan Atkinson? Because, it seems like a very easy mistake to make.

  2. Watched Elimination Chamber. Wanted to see two matches and one delivered. If this is then end of The Shield, that was one hell of a way to go out. Of all their many excellent 6-man tags, that may have been the best. It is one of those things where I know the ending, yet still bite on every false finish.

And then we have the chamber match, which I am generally not a fan of. Some nice spots, but once it got down to the final three, I knew exactly how it would play out. And unlike earlier, I didn't bite on anything.

Sheamus's brogue kick to Orton inside a chamber was cool. But yeah, it wasn't that great, and the ending was pretty terrible. The Shield/Wyatt's match got "This is awesome" chants before they even touched, and it did not disappoint.

  3. Catfish: Another film I heard the hype on and never got around to seeing. From the fucking get-go my bullshit meter was through the roof. Then they go and meet their "correspondent" and the reality comes crushing in. I truly believe that these guys knew exactly what was going on with this "relationship" and concocted a plan to get themselves infamy by exploiting a poor sad woman with a horrible life. I don't think that she is fake or her family...her real family...but I think those guys knew from the beginning. They found out. Researched like crazy and then decided to film it as if it were a neat little doc about the relationship between the bigshot New York photographer and the precocious "little girl" who happens to be pretty amazing at turning his photographs into paintings.

Yip. They were also able to rangle a TV series from it.

  4. Is it just me, or did the Ultimate Spider-Man comic feel rushed at times? I get that Bendis' strength is in character development and dialogue, but it just sometimes feels like, he just rushes through the fight scenes, the climax to stories, to get back to telling character centric situations. Like with the Carnage arc, and how Carnage is just, easily defeated.

Also, I really felt like, a year before the death of Ultimate Spider-Man, that Bendis was dead set in rushing through Peter's stories, to try and get to the Miles Morales stuff.

I will say, even Bendis couldn't make the clone saga utterly stupid, no matter how hard he tried to keep it short and interesting, it was still confusing, and a bit odd.

  5. So, Marvel Unlimited. Does anyone have this? Is it worth the money?

Look at the last post, Dan :P

The search option is pretty crappy, but once you know the series and issues you want to read, and get used to it taking a bit of time for the issue to load in the first place, it's pretty good.

    D'oh.

But in terms of the selection available, you're satisfied with it?

Yeah, very happy, lots of selections and I definitely feel like I am getting my moneys worth from it.

  7. Apparently, the problems I am having with internet speeds are entirely based upon my choice of internet browser. Somehow this choice also affects my iPod and Netflix thru the Nintendo Wii.

I say this with no hyperbole: Time Warner customer service are the worst people I have EVER had to deal with over the phone. I was hung up on thrice. I was blatantly ignored while I was talking.

Over the past three days they (as in a different person each time, naturally) have narrowed the problem down to:

    - the modem

    - the wireless router

    - my laptop

    - my internet browser

    - my Wii

    - Nintendo

    - Netflix

Good thing I called. I thought my lack of milk in the refrigerator was causing everything to slow down. Thanks TWC.

  8. You know what's great? Marvel Comics Unlimited, so many great comics, and no limit to the amount you can read.

You know what is utter garbage? Marvel Comics Unlimited service search feature. Unless the issue/series you are looking for has been recently added, it may take you a while to find it, and it's hard to tell whether a digital title is part of the subscription, but says $3.99 for non subscription members, or if it's not part of your subscription, and you may have to buy it, or wait 6 months for it to show up on the service.

  9. Spaceballs: Not Mel Brooks' best film, by a long shot, but there's so much to like. The performances are wonderful, mostly Rick Moranis' Dark Helmet, John Candy's wonderful Barf and the very earnest take on Han Solo from Bill Pullman. There's a pile of great jokes, (Comb the desert/"We ain't found shit.", Mr. Coffee/Mr Radar, Jamming the Radar, John Hurt's Cameo, etc.) But Daphne Zuniga is weak, and the plot lacks the bite I generally expect from Brooks. It's not perfect, but is a personal favorite of mine.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Dom DeLuise's cameo as Pizza the Hutt and Brooks' turn as President Skroob. Both phenomenal. Oh, fuck and George Wyner's Col. Sandurz. What a great take on every Imperial Officer ever.

It's the piracy scene that I always loved.

  10. I'd be happy if they let the Wii U be a low-level "niche" product for the rest of this generation and focused on the 3DS instead, then came back into the home console market bigtime in the next generation.

So, you want them to do what they did with the Gamecube, all over again?

  11. I'm confused about when this takes place. How is Xavier walking, and why are he and Magneto still friends? Did the last movie never take place?

Also, that's supposedly Quicksilver in the silver jacket. It looks like Magneto is in a prison jumpsuit, so, maybe this is them breaking him out of prison.
