  1. “what else comes out of the woodwork this year...” LOLOLOLOL! BTW, sadly I think this episode is it in terms of Austin-Rock. They do stuff in the Rumble, but don’t cross paths, interactions wise anyway, until the 1999 Rumble to set up the first Mania match between them.
  2. There is a Wrestling With Wregret YouTube video that was released this week that ranked Owen as one of the eight worst face turns ever. Pretty much because right after this everything went away. His target became Hunter due to Shawn’s politics, and he lost the Black Hart edge, probably due to heat with it being too similar to Austin’s gimmick.
  3. Bruno is from Pittsburgh, not Philly. WCW brought him in briefly due to his bitterly leaving the WWF.
  4. I’m in the pro-Jake camp as well. It helps that he had no interest in Star Fleet, and was never portrayed as a Mary-Sue like character, much the opposite over the years actually. It probably also helped that Cirroc Lofton was young enough early on that rules dictated that he couldn’t be used all that often, so in the first few seasons he was rarely seen and/or used as a central part to one of big storylines of an episode. Plus he has his own DS9 rewatch podcast!
  5. “Have we’ve met before!?” ”Yes. In battle at Wolf 359.” [Picard gives a “oh damn” look]
  6. I’m disappointed that my constant trolling has gone for naught, as there was no reference to the second 3MB member to get future endeavored and make it all the way back to win the WWE Heavyweight title during the lifespan of this podcast!
  7. Remember when Bret and Shawn did that hatchet burying segment when Bret returned to Raw in 2010. Thing I got a kick out of is, if you went back to Shawn’s heel promo in Montreal at the Go Home for the infamous Hogan SummerSlam match. Shawn tells the crowd that if he ever saw Bret again, he’d say right to his face “I SCREWED YOU! AND I’D DO IT AGAIN!” Then they did a fake out with Bret’s music blaring. Anyway, flash forward to the hatchet burying segment, Shawn unloads by saying he still thinks Bret, at the time, deserved what happened that night. Pretty much EXACTLY what Shawn said he’d do, though in a more mature “we’re engaging in a serious argument conversation” fashion, and not in a “heelish school yard” manner.
  8. IIRC, pretty sure all “as it happened” reviews (I was even following someone that night, no recall of whom, was doing a “live blog” such as it was in 1997) that got posted that night and Monday mentioned how abrupt the PPV seem to just end with Shawn, Hunter and Brisco going through the curtain. Bret and the rest of the Harts in ring antics were mentioned as “After cameras went off the air” stuff, and stated as being from live reports.
  9. Footage of Bret spelling out W-C-W and N-W-O can be seen in the WWF “Lonely Road of Faith” Kid Rock video montage done early in 2002 (storyline Ric Flair produced it to warn Vince of the history that would crumble if he brought in Hogan and The Outsiders).
  10. Quick, WWE, rehire Heath Slater and slap the WWE Heavyweight Title on him...this podcast is less than ten episodes away from making it a reality that all three members of 3MB got fired, only to come back and win the company's big belt during the run of this podcast! =;) Sorry, had to keep the joke going.
  11. Tempted to use my now tired joke involving Cure and the title reigns of Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyire
  12. And now they both have had, with McIntyre in midst of his at this posting, significant runs as WWE Heavyweight Champion! Though sadly Heath Slater was part of the post Mania/Covid-19 country wide lockdowns cuts.

  14. The internet is your friend https://nlbm.com Dig around there, and Google Bingo Long movie allegories!
  15. The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings Not sure if you’ve done a sports film yet, and there are plenty of historical allegories in this one set in a fictional Negro Baseball Leagues. I’ll second the autobiographical Jo Jo Dancer, as well as take your pick of his buddy comedy work with Gene Wilder.
  16. Many TV shows that replaced main/reoccurring (non-puberty going through children) actors usually make it as though it’s a continuation of the character, like nothing happened, despite clear appearance changes. Good examples along with the L&C Jimmy are Miss Ellie on Dallas, Darren on Bewitched, Becky on Roseanne, and hell even Superboy on the titular live action series. Also Miss Ellie and Becky are among the rare instances where the original actor came back after getting replaced!
  17. -I have issues with the audio on Picard. I can barely hear it on my CBS All Access phone app! At least its not shaky though, but its probably a worse issue than the screen shaking. -Did my email for Last Outpost/WNOHGB go through? -Worf wondering about "Rome" made me think of years later when he surprised Jazdia by quoting the Rules of Acquisition. I think his response to Jazdia's astonishment was along the lines of "I am a graduate of Starfleet Academy! I know a great, many things."
  18. I’ve just found out about this meme, but knowing the hosts of this show, I’m pretty surprised that “They’ve taken the hobbits to ISENGARD!” didn’t make its way into this episode. I mean I wouldn’t have bumped Ian Dury for it, but maybe before or after playing Dury’s performance
  19. Went with Moore just due to seeing if he’d get some measure of respect with his non-Bond projects.
  20. I wonder if we can do a running talley in honor of WNOHGB. How many “Wesley save the day” episodes are improved, or at least feel the same quality, if Wesley is removed from the equation.
  21. Great, now I need Watchmen Hostess ad memes to be made, NOW! Not sure which is more amusing in terms of incongruity, the idea of these characters in those old ads, or that realized, as a title sequence, 1980s Saturday Morning cartoon version of Watchmen.
  22. LOL! Fair enough. Still not sure what’s more polarizing though, that ending among older Superman fans, or fans of the TV show, and the sequence referenced. Well, there’s still potential for the latter to get turned on its head a bit though...fingers and toes crossed
  23. I have a “grasping at straws” theory about Earth-167’s fate though. -Notice how all the Earths seen with red skies were Batman properties (though that could be a nod to the Batman books that tied into CoIE ending with the ominous red skies as the only thing tying them to the crossover), we didn’t see it for Smallville. -Clark did show genuine concern, just because Lois thinking he was making a funny diffused it for that brief moment doesn’t mean they didn’t discuss it seriously inside the house. -While it was said Welling was up in Vancouver for just the day, there is that Berlanti comment about three Supermen on screen together. -Probably holding on to too much hope, but considering how Silver Age-y Smallville could get, whose to say Clark took off the Blue Kryptonite watch, put Earth-167 into a pocket dimension and will appear at The Vanishing Point?
  24. Just thought of a theory. No clue of the timeline of events, so I could be off base, but something on TV (no spoilers) recently was very reminiscent of the conclusion to Alan Moore’s “Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow” that ended the run of the Silver & Bronze Age/Pre-Crisis Superman. Knowing that Moore couldn’t use the Charlton characters in the way he wanted to (killing them off, changing their status quo’s, etc), and that he very enthusiastically wanted to write the final Pre-Crisis Superman story (literally begged and threatened the editor to give him the assignment), makes me wonder if the entire scope of the story (slaughtering many of his supporting cast and villains) and Superman giving up his powers at the end in favor of a traditional suburban family life with Lois was his way of saying FUCK YOU to DC not letting him play in the Charlton sandbox. Especially with the last line in the introduction being “This is an imaginary tale...aren’t they all?” Of course like I said, the timing of everything could be off, but IDK, thinking about it, it does seem like a good subversive way to stick it to an editorial mandate on his opus, plus the story, despite closing out the first volume of Superman and the Pre-Crisis run of Action, obviously has never been considered a cannon Superman story, so it existing as an “imaginary story” could be Moore’s way of expressing disappointment that Watchmen couldn’t just be an imaginary story in the Charlton Universe. Anyway, probably over thinking things, but hey that’s what these mediums (podcast and social networking platforms) are for
