  1. What's kind of crazy to think about is the fact that he really didn't even try to hide his identity very much. He basically just watched everyone figure it out and then played along with them the whole time.
  2. Things that would make X-Men Apocalypse a perfect movie for me: -Movie opens with Morph getting murdered -Opening title sequence uses the Ron Wasserman X-Men animated theme -Wolverine punches Cyclops in the gut; Cyclops blasts Wolverine in the face -Wolverine has to wear a mask to hide his still-healing face? -Wolverine can now be recast because his face got blasted off and healed back funny for some reason? -Cyclops polishes an apple while a single tear rolls down his cheek
  3. IGN is saying that this is a mode where you can switch between Batman and the sidekicks in a tag team manner. I kinda hope that at some point we get some multiplayer co-op brawl mode. Also: Nightwing looks rad, Robin looks even more like a tool than last time.
  4. I dig it. Overall, it actually seems like it's probably the closest we've ever had to comics-Joker in live-action. The maniacal screaming thing is perfect.
  5. The worst thing in the story was the girls carrying Everyman in their car to the police. Seriously? You're not going to call the police and have them pick him up? You're going to put a handcuffed shapeshifting guy into your backseat and just hope he doesn't wake up and either overpower you or pull shapeshifting shenanigans? Dumb. But otherwise the episode was neat. Having the family dynamics of Flash and Arrow compared was interesting. I found it funny that Quentin didn't seem to understand the idea of making peace with family. Also, I wanna say that this is the most fun Laurel has ever been in the Arrowverse. I hope she gets a chance to be more like this in Arrow.
  6. So it's a survival disaster action movie now? Okay, cool. I'm down with that. It at least makes it different from the other three.
  7. Okay, yeah, I really like those posters a lot.
  8. That's true to an extent, but when you go to the extreme level that Man of Steel did, the end result isn't "the hero saved lives," it's "Metropolis got nuked." I feel like Avengers hit precisely on the upper limit of destruction you can have in a superhero movie and still call it a "win" (unless you live in Hell's Kitchen, apparently). Man of Steel pretty much showed us another 9/11 times twenty. Thinking on it more, Man of Steel really is the story of the Transformers movies: Zod & Friends/Decepticons come to Earth seeking the key/Allspark so they can use Earth's resources to rebuild their home planet while killing all the humans in the process. Superman/Optimus Prime stands in the way, claiming that humanity's existence is worth protecting, and that Krypton/Cybertron is long dead anyway. Battles ensue, causing terrible damage across the world, notably in Chicago (Metropolis was filmed in Chicago), which makes humanity turn against Superman/the Autobots. So now Batman v Superman is Transformers 4. Which is awful by even Transformer movie standards. Hooray.
  9. Yeah, I'd post the Rebels season 2 trailer here, but honestly it's pretty spoileriffic for the Season 1 finale, and, seriously, everybody needs to go watch Season 1 of Rebels. It's kinda ho-hum and low-key at first, but it ramps up to an amazing level by the end.
  10. So here's my problem with it all, right down to the core: It's an interesting story that is in no way a Superman story. The single biggest problem with Man of Steel was that it introduced Superman by making him partially responsible for the single biggest disaster in American history. Instead of having Superman be, you know, an actual hero, he ended up bringing destruction upon Metropolis, even if it wasn't all his fault. When the best thing that can be said is, "well, at least the entire planet didn't die," that's not much consolation. Superman's first outing was a terrible loss, and the entire planet would have been better off if he'd never landed on it. It's basically the story of Transformers. Man of Steel is darker than every Batman movie shy of The Dark Knight, which is an asinine choice to make for a Superman origin movie. So when this new movie further makes Superman into a controversial savior/destroyer figure, it only digs that dark well even further. Yes, if Superman were a real person, this kind of thing would happen. These kinds of moral quandaries would arise. But that's not what Superman is. This is basically the Watchmen approach taken to Superman. If it were an alternate universe story, then sure, but this is meant to be THE Superman for film. And as a Superman fan, I watch that trailer and feel kind of disgusted. I wait years on end to actually see a good representation of the greatest superhero of all time, and then am handed this, a story that basically only seems interested in tearing him down in favor of being edgy and "real-world." Seriously, when was the last good Superman movie? 1978? 80, maybe? The fact that Superman of all characters isn't treated like an actual superhero is beyond stupid to me. I'm done with the "lonely alien god" story at this point; just let Superman BE SUPERMAN again.
  11. What? Thor was devastated and rage-filled when she died. He and Loki only worked together because they both cared about Frigga so much that they could put aside their issues for the time being; they pretty much literally said that to each other. Not to say that Thor 2 wasn't lacking in the character depth department, but that was one of the few highlights.
  12. So... the trailer leaked. I am not pleased. EDIT: whoops, I should type faster.
  13. All reports are that Gwendolyn is the trooper in the chrome armor.
  14. !!!!!! EDIT: video reposted since I accidentally started a new page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngElkyQ6Rhs
  15. Some highlights from Star Wars Celebration Anaheim's opening panel: Left to right: Poe Dameron, Rey, and Finn. Random new fact: the desert planet seen in the trailer is not, in fact, Tatooine.
  16. All the CW's superheroes and villains in a fight club: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XE_jH2eQl4 I love DC TV right now.
  17. If you're looking at it purely in-universe, then okay, but it was still too big a thing to be wasted the way it was. Of course, if One More Day had actually been a good story, then maybe it would have been fine.
  18. Shhh. You keep saying things I completely agree with and the foundations of the universe will collapse.
  19. True. Which really bothers me, honestly, because it wasn't at all a good story development. It was a shock value moment that was undone almost immediately afterward.
  20. I don't really agree with the idea that it's wrong to cast a Chinese-American as a Japanese character. I mean, we cast white people from all different continents to play certain roles and no one really cares. While there are some differences between Japanese and Chinese people, they're not pronounced enough for it to be legitimately offensive (a la switching Native American for Mexican or Asian). And to clarify, I'm part Chinese myself. My dad's side of the family is from China. Keeping the culture straight is incredibly important. There's no excuse for confusing Japanese language and culture with Chinese. But in terms of acting? Eh. If she works then she works.
  21. I noticed that too. I really like the action in Daredevil, but if there's one big thing about it that I don't like, it's the fact that people take repeated brutal hits to the head and basically walk away with scratches. Although it's rare, you can die from a single sucker punch to the face, let alone a flurry of roundhouse kicks. Okay, so, just finished it. Overall I really loved it, but I do have a couple of gripes, notably with the last episode:
  22. That was the only part of the trailer I liked. If the trailers are actually indicative of tone (which, given that we've gotten two in a row now with the same tone, they might), then it really feels like this was written to be a Guardians-style action-comedy, but they're apparently trying to push it as an action-drama with a side of dry comedy. But hopefully it turns out well.
  23. Yeah, they're both now part of Whedon's group of favorite actors.
