Dread
Yeah, I was the same age when I saw it for the first time too and was not bothered by it at all.
Missy
Poltergeist, on the other hand, fucked me up! Same goes for Psycho. I couldn't shower without the door open for a good long while.
Gareth
I saw the shower scene of Psycho alone, when I was about 6 years old. I wasn't scared by it per se, but it definitely stuck with me.
dc20willsave
I think Ian saw the VHS cover of The Crow at too young an age as well. One of the local video stores had a large poster of Child's Play 3 up in it when I was like 5 or 6. Scared the hell out of me where I had to walk through the place staring at the floor to get anything I wanted to see.
Rjoyadet
I saw The Exorcist when I was 8. With my cousins, at my First Communion party. We huddled together and prayed the Rosary over and over. My mom had me watch The Exorcist when I was six or seven. This was exceptionally odd, because just a year or so prior she tried to shield me from First Blood. That said, if I were to guess, I'd say this happened around Halloween, and, knowing my love of horror movies, Mom probably wanted to scare me a little. However, the movie impressed me more than anything else; I was absolutely fascinated with the special effects. Since then, I've come to the conclusion that the real reason The Exorcist didn't scare me is because I'm not Catholic. I've found more Catholics who are terrified of that movie than people of other faiths. Now it makes sense! Most of my extended family is Catholic and I am an Evangelical Christian. The movie never frightened me like it did them.
