Ian and Dave come to the end of Neverwhere. In "Down Street," the Door, Richard, and Hunter make the dangerous return journey to give the key to Islington, the Marquis returns from the dead and the traitor is revealed. In "As Above, So Below," Richard and the Marquis must join forces to free Door from Islington but first they must vanquish the Beast of London Below. They discuss the series as a whole. Knowing that Hunter was leading them all into the hands of Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar, maybe she didn't tell Lamia to fuck off because a distracted Richard was one less person to deal with when the trap was sprung. Maybe she was actually trying to save him from Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar by allowing him to fall into the Velvet's hands. Keep in mind, when Hunter and Door got ahead of Richard and Lamia, she made no attempt to hurry them up.

Good point. She had seemingly lost de Carabas by good fortune and Richard is not a direct threat to her, even if he did overcome The Ordeal.

Maybe she was actually trying to save him from Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar by allowing him to fall into the Velvet's hands.

Not so good point, as leaving Richard to be sucked of warmth is hardly "saving" him. It's possibly the lesser of two nasty fates, but de Carabas is sufficiently pissed off with Lamia when he attends the scene for it to be implied that the Velvets leave their victims in a pretty nasty state.
