I'm shocked, but at the same time not, that GitS: SAC was voted onto that list. I mean, I know Shirow Masamune is something of a god over there, but I've never completely understood why that show is so popular. And it is pretty new, whereas all the other series/movies on that list (save FMA) are several years old. What I am surprised about is that Princess Mononoke wasn't on that list.

What's so hard to understand about teenagers piloting giant robots in a post apocalyptic world?

Giant robots that bleed for some reason or another. Ya, I find it confusing too. Granted I've only seen 2 episodes in the middle of the series.

I too am surprised that Mononoke didn't make the list.

umm....They're not robots. They're Evangelions. Rather specifically, angels fitted with armor and control systems to accept the commands of a pilot.

Only "surprise" to me is Mushishi (which is not even a year old, so I'm surprised it would end up on a list like this).
