Missy
Avengers and Transformers Assemble! Exclusive: Get sneak peak at the first cover, and read up on the blockbuster summer mini-series. by Richard George March 29, 2007 - When Marvel approached us to debut Jim Cheung's cover to New Avengers/Transformers #1, we tried to think of all the clever ways we could introduce the property. Do we mention the announcement at New York Comic-Con 2007? Do we try to sell it above and beyond other books like World War Hulk? Is it bigger than Civil War? More fun than Halo? In the end we realized our approach was pretty simple: New Avengers. Transformers. We're talking two of the biggest brands in pop culture. We're looking at a comic book that's going to contain Optimus Prime, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Megatron and Dr. Doom. What more needs to be said? Alright, alright, we'll tell you what we know. The series will be a crossover between the "Original New Avengers" and an "Ultimate-esque" version of the Transformers currently being used by publisher IDW. The book will consist of four issues, each with a different cover artist. The first cover, presented below, will be handled by Jim Cheung. Jason Pearson, Ed McGuiness and Tom Raney, in that order, will round out the remaining three books (although we wouldn't be surprised to see variants). Interior art will be done by Tyler Kirkham (X-Men: Phoenix - Warsong). Stuart Moore will be writing the series. Moore is probably best known for his work on the recent Punisher: X-Mas Special as well as Wolverine #41, where Logan had to save a young child from a civil war in Africa. Only basic details are available about the plot. While Decepticons will be present, who will represent the Marvel Universe? How about Dr. Doom? The story is apparently set in Latveria at some point, though we don't know much more than that. The mini-series will occur in continuity, but will be set in the past, prior to the events of Civil War. The New Avengers roster will be the "classic" one, featuring Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man, Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, the Sentry and, of course, Captain America. We also know that this will take place between the opening "Breakout" arc and the "Sentry" one. References to previous team-ups would likely not be made as Transformers continuity has undergone revisions since that time. The series is scheduled to debut the same week the film debuts (July 4, 2007). For a look at Jim Cheung's incredible cover to New Avengers/Transformers #1, head on below! Missy
Better yet, I want a Dr. Doom / Megatron variant!
ragernok2002
Eh, do we really need this? While I love Transformers , do we really need this series? If it gets the current Transformers series some more readers awesome, but I don't think it will. Although I do want a Doom Megatron variant as well or one of Soundwave. S-T
The Transformer is okay, but Wolverine... YUCK! He looks like he needs to poop. Maybe that's why he's so angry all the time. Anyway, I agree. Terrible.
Bento
It could be fun. I'll get it. Wow, Marvel is really pulling out all the stops... Zombies, Transformers, main characters dying. I wonder what else they'll throw on the board to see what sticks
