prez
Okay so apparently this is the new MEGA-CROSSOVER that DC does, oh every other month. So they're keeping mum on most of the details and I want to know if anyone has heard anything. The basis of the series seems to be that a major DC character is killed off. Since the cover advertised doesn't include Kyle Rayner, the rumor is that he's the one to go. But I don't see how killing another GL would make any sense at all. Especially since the GL title is in creative and artistic hell right now (seriously, I'm this close to dropping it). I can't imagine who gets to die, as it seems everyone in the DCU worth a shit has died in the last decade. Plus DC has been such a shithole with crossovers as of late that it doesn't even seem worth investigating. So my guess is that, though preliminary art looks great, this will be yet another DC failure. Any thoughts?
Cheap Heat
I hope it isn't Kyle Rayner, he's my favourite GL.
Missy
I hope it isn't Kyle Rayner, he's my favourite GL. Same here. Though I don't make it a point to buy the book every month, I've been reading it more since Kyle got the ring. Brining Hal back or giving it to another person isn't the right move -- if that's what DC is doing.
S-T
I read the first issue. The character who dies is the Elongated Man's wife.
Missy
I read the first issue. The character who dies is the Elongated Man's wife. You're kidding... right?
S-T
You're kidding... right? Not kidding. all of the DC heroes show up to her funeral too. It was written as a big deal: underscoring the dangers to the families of DCU superheroes.
Missy
L-A-M-E!
Brett
L-A-M-E! I disagree.. I thought the first issue was FANTASTIC. If you had told me before I read it that it was Sue Dinby, I would have sobbed, but wow, it was an excellent story and it made sense, the fear of your significant other being attacked to get at you. Trust me, Yoda.
Missy
I'll take your word for it, but I'm still waiting for TPB.
S-T
I disagree.. I thought the first issue was FANTASTIC. If you had told me before I read it that it was Sue Dinby, I would have sobbed, but wow, it was an excellent story and it made sense, the fear of your significant other being attacked to get at you. Trust me, Yoda. I just picked up issue #2 today. It's an excellent story and a great folow-up to the first issue. The flashback scene with Dr. Light's attack on Sue Dibny in the JLA sattelite was just disturbing. I almost wish I had waited for the TPB as well, because then I wouldn't have to wait a month between installments.
S-T
Just read #3 today. If you can pick it up, do so. Excellent story, and the fight between Deathstroke and the JLA was awesome.
S-T
Identity Crisis has made a splash in the mainstream media. The following links are all the same article; I am providing them to show how wide the story has been distributed. http://msnbc.msn.com/id/5945544/ http://www.detnews.com/2004/books/0409/10/c01-269163.htm http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/LondonFreePr.../10/622582.html http://www.htnext.com/news/7087_998263,00870000.htm The characters who die in this one will, unlike Superman, need to STAY dead. Otherwise, it will kill (pun intended) the impact of this story.
Missy
I haven't been following the series (I'll get it when DC makes it a TPB), so what issue are they on?

Cheap Heat
Don't CNN have their own Journalists though?
S-T
Don't CNN have their own Journalists though? Yes, but they also pick up a lot of stories from the AP wire.
S-T
I won't spoil the surprise, but it was revealed at the end of issue #6 who killed Sue Dibney. It is quite a shock, as well as the other thing that the heroes did when they lobotomized Dr. Light.
S-T
SPOILER WARNING. The killer is... The Atom's wife. Seems she wanted to get back together with him, so she attacked Sue Dibney figuring Atom would come to her side. Mrs. Atom didn't intend to kill Sue, she just wanted to scare her. Of course, she could have just asked him to come back, and he probably would have. After a great run, the ending was lame.
