I did a thin mattress on the floor of my place my entire last year of uni and it was literally the most comfortable I have ever been. I have a bed again now and got a decent thick mattress (thin ones and slats don't work together) but if I had the floor and storage space I'd go back to the floor in a moment. If I had a mansion I'd be on cheap foam and concrete by choice.

Commoner is what most people you run into in D&D are. They roll a d4, or a 4 sided die, for hit points plus extra points if you have an above average constitution score. You also get less hit points if you have a lower than average constitution, which this baby does. A 4 means he gets a -3 to his health. You always get a minimum of 1 HP at each level. Since the baby has 2 hit points, that means that he must at the very least have a d5, or a 5-sided die, for his hit points and he rolled max. More likely, the baby is secretly a disguised rogue, and gets a d6, or a 5 sided-die.
