JackFetch
Zone of the Enders was pretty good, though. I thought it was ok, but never would have bought it if not for the demo. Nobody else would have either.
SuaveStar
Warner Home Video has announced that Clash of the Titans will be released as a Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy Combo Pack on July 27th and will include a sneak peek at director Martin Campbell's Green Lantern. http://www.superherohype.com/news/greenlanternnews.php?id=9342 In this day and age, that means, one person will buy it, and post it on youtube for the rest of us who won't buy the film to see it. Koete
First photo of Hector Hammond.
Stavros
Looks wrong but its the only way it could be done without looking stupid or blowing masses of the CGI budget on the look. Plus Peter Skarsgard is a good choice. The cast as a whole looks good, although Blake Lively has a little of the Katie Holmes's about her. Might be unfair, I'll wait until the film to judge. Well, considering that this is the origin of Hector Hammond, his head might not be gigantic yet. I mean, it started out normally, then grew over time. JackFetch
It kind of looks like Rocky Dennis from Mask. I mean, it started out normally, then grew over time. That's the way it is in this movie also.

MaxPower
I'm just glad to see so many movies going the non CGI route lately, it's really refreshing.
JackFetch
Because I know a few people on here want to see it, here's RR in his mocap suit and a cute little dog at his feet for some reason.
ShaunKL
D'you think that's the way his hair is going to be styled in the film?

ShaunKL
Really? I always thought Hal Jordan had a more proper hairstyle.
SuaveStar
Is it just me, or does that look like the Ryan Reynolds hairstyle he always has?
Dread
Hair style? Are we really complaining about hairstyle? News flash: comic book hairstyles don't really work in the real world without making you look like a douche. Exception: Elvis and Captain Marvel Jr.
KnightWing
Eh. His hair's a little bit longer in the comics today (though not quite as long as in that Alex Ross picture), but the difference isn't enough to make me cry foul. If he goes bald, that's when I'll cry foul.
ShaunKL
It turns out Ryan Reynolds is playing Abin Sur, which not only means that he will have to shave his head, but also this infers that this is a prequel to the main film which will come out in 2019. JackFetch
Latino Review caught up with Temuera Morrison (Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith) this weekend at Walt Disney World and asked the actor about playing Abin Sur in Green Lantern. He told the site that he has finished filming the character, who gives Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) the power ring. He then showed the site an image of the character which looked almost exactly like previously-leaked concept art. "That took about 4-5 hours to put on, it was all prosthetic," Morrison said. "We did the whole scene together were I give him the ring, our suits are CGI so we had these grey suits with things on them so it was cool and working with Martin Campbell again was great too." He added that you can expect to see him in a possible sequel as well. "They want me to come back in the sequel," he said. "They want to show you my backend story for the next movie. They want to show you how I become part of Green Lantern Corps." Warner Bros. Pictures will release Green Lantern in 3D and 2D theaters on June 17, 2011. http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/101550-temuera-morrison-on-abin-sur-in-green-lantern I wonder why they want to show his story in the second movie. dc20willsave
Putting is spoilers since it contains something big. Also, take it with a grain of salt. Supposedly, comicbookmovie.com has gotten ahold of a press release for the movie. Green Lantern 'Bringing the enduringly popular superhero to the big screen for the first time, “Green Lantern” stars Ryan Reynolds (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) in the title role, under the direction of Martin Campbell (“Casino Royale”). In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all. Campbell directs “Green Lantern” from a screenplay by Greg Berlanti & Michael Green & Marc Guggenheim and Michael Goldenberg, story by Greg Berlanti & Michael Green & Marc Guggenheim, based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. The film also stars Blake Lively (upcoming “The Town,” TV’s “Gossip Girl”) as the spirited Carol Ferris, a test pilot and the heir apparent to her father’s aviation company; Peter Sarsgaard (“An Education,” “Flightplan”) as scientist Dr. Hector Hammond; Mark Strong (“Sherlock Holmes”) as Sinestro, Jordan’s powerful mentor in the Green Lantern Corps; Jay O. Sanders (“Revolutionary Road”) as Carl Ferris, Carol’s aircraft designer dad; Temuera Morrison (“Star Wars” Episodes II and III) as Abin Sur, Jordan’s alien predecessor; Taika Waititi (TV’s “The Flight of the Conchords”) as flight navigator Tom Kalmaku, Hal’s good friend and confidante; Academy Award® nominee Angela Bassett (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”) as enigmatic government scientist Amanda Waller; and Academy Award® winner Tim Robbins (“Mystic River”) as Hector’s influential father, Senator Robert Hammond. The film is being produced by Donald De Line (“The Italian Job”) and Greg Berlanti (upcoming “Life As We Know It”). Herbert W. Gains and Andrew Haas serve as executive producers. Geoff Johns and Lucienne Papon are co-producing. The film’s behind-the-scenes creative team is led by a number of Academy Award® winners, including director of photography Dion Beebe (“Memoirs of a Geisha”), production designer Grant Major (“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”), and costume designer Ngila Dickson (“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”), as well as Oscar®-nominated editor and longtime Campbell collaborator, Stuart Baird (“Gorillas in the Mist,” “Superman”). The film’s visual effects are being overseen by Oscar®-nominee Kent Houston (“The Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen,” “Casino Royale”). The film is currently scheduled for release in 3D and 2D on June 17, 2011. “Green Lantern” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. ' Source. Stavros
Too early for parallax surely. This film should be the introduction, with Hal becoming a hero and Sinestro starting his fall. Then 2nd film, Sinestro is cast out of the GL's and tries to create his own corps using Parralax but in the end the entity chooses to possess Hal, so we get an Empire-style cliffhanger going into the third film. Finally we get the assorted other Lanterns like guy and kyle who came in during the second film trying to save Hal and defeat Parallax. Seems simple enough to me, I think the full on Blackest Night war of light might be too much, but you could definitely get into potential other corps if you wanted. Venneh
Admittedly, I don't know much about GL continuity, but didn't Parallax possess Hal at the height of his career as a GL? Introducing it this early on just kinda doesn't seem right. Oh, also, BAH 3D. I saw a poster for Step Up - IN 3D when I went to IM2 last night. Missy
Considering the fantastical visual nature of the ring, I would have been shocked if the movie wasn't in 3D.
Stavros
Considering the fantastical visual nature of the ring, I would have been shocked if the movie wasn't in 3D. Yeah, Mark Strong mentioned it was in 3-D a while ago back when he was promoting Kick-Ass.
