Two things: One, Babe is a fuck ton creepier when you realize that this is the voice of the pig:

Two: We were talking about personal possessions today in my Economics of Sociology class, and one girl had, I shit you not, 221 tops (shirts) and 37 purses in her fucking dorm room. And yes, I have a sizeable pile of DVDs and books, but 221 tops? 37 Purses?

Just started a student on the Animal Farm unit off English 10. Gave him the spiel about totalitarianism and communism and all that good stuff and he started reading. After a page he came up to me and this is what followed:

HIM: So, is this the same Animal Farm as the one with Chevy Chase?

(i thought for a second about if he was talking about the live action film with talking mouth animated animals with Kelsey Grammer when it hit me.)

ME: 1, I think you're thinking about Animal House and John Belushi. In which case, no it's not the same but it's almost as awesome.

There is a Chevy Chase movie called Funny Farm, maybe he was just confused. I haven't read the book version of Funny Farm, but I'm sure it's just as enlightening as Animal Farm, but probably not as much as the book version of Animal House....

This weekend, at my mom's belated birthday party, for one reason or another the family began talking about currency. Specifically, who's been on coins and who hasn't. At one point the conversation came around to the Sacagawea dollar coin, to which my aunt said, "She wasn't a president, was she?"

Just got back from home at lunch where the phone guy helped set up my internet. Pulling aside my bookshelf to get at a phone line, he noticed my Kirby Omnibi all in a row.

HIM: "Kirby fan, huh?"

Me: "Yeah, you too?"

HIM: "Haven't read a comic in probably thirty years but I loved that guy."

Me: (Thinking thoughts like 'created FF, etc' so I decide to do a little test) "Yeah, I've just been rereading the Fourth World stuff, I love it."

HIM: "Some of it was fun but it was hard to follow if you didn't pick up all the issues all the time. I preferred Kamandi."

Whoa.

Take that comic snob, with your tests and knowledge!

More of a did I just read that, from Craig's List (The actual ad has since been removed. I got the copy from Topless Robot.)

Need an amputee to complete my Halloween costume (Brooklyn)

So this might seem strange and really offensive to some but hopefully someone will reply. I have always loved the scene in Empire Strikes Back where Chewbacca has to carry around a half reconstructed C3PO in a backpack because he hasn't reattached his lower body yet. For Halloween I would love to dress up like this. I am big enough and strong enough to both pull off the Chewbacca look and to carry around a lot of weight for the night. So basically I am looking for a double amputee (someone missing both legs - preferably at the hip) to accompany me as C3PO for the evening. We should meet ahead of time so that we can work out the backpack/harness system. There are a few parties that I want to hit and I think we will be the hit of any event we attend. Anyone up for this?

Some random TV show is pretty much right.

The Porno industry went with VHS and, since the home video trend hadn't really solidified beyond rentals, porn was a massive factor. That's why Blu Ray and HD DVD were worried about which side porn would fall on. I think a few major studios went Blu Ray.

Just sayin'.

The internet made that a non issue.

Saw someone post on a forum that Superman/Batman: Public Enemies was better than Batman: Mask of The Phantasm.

Had an aneurysm.

Apparently he had already had one.

This is more of a "did I just see that?":

So I'm sitting in my car at our local mall's parking lot when I see a perfectly-preserved white 80s-era Cadillac drive by. In the driver's seat is an old man (at least in his seventies) with a long dark gray beard. He is wearing a wide-brimmed fedora made out of what looks like thick, trash can-style aluminum. After the car drives off, I see that the entire back window is filled up with at least two dozen pink stuffed bunnies.
