Guest
I've noticed that at any moment, we'll have around 2-6 of us regular members on the board, and anywhere from 20-80 guests. Maybe the problem isn't getting them to visit, they just think registering is going cause them grave injury or something.
Missy
It confuses me, too. Lurkers, join! Please. Chime in. There's no flaming here, so there's nothing to be afraid of.
Guest
Don't mind the smell guys! You get used to it after a while!
Dread
Of course more board members are always welcome, but forced registration is a little Tony Stark for my liking...
Guest
Well, not forced so much as they won't be able to read the board without registering, like most boards.
Stavros
Yoda's only taking your credit card numbers for ID purposes, you can trust him.
Missy
For a little while I did have it so that you had to register to read the boards, but I didn't like it. People deserve a taste before joining.
George W.
Is it possible to limit the amount of times you can lurk without registering? And Yoda, I thought you'd be all for the mandatory registration...
Missy
Is it possible to limit the amount of times you can lurk without registering? I can limit what sections guests see, but not how often they can visit before joining. And Yoda, I thought you'd be all for the mandatory registration...
Guest
In that case, just allow them to see any threads relating to Babychest, and then a message "if you want more high quality antics like these, join the forums!"

Aaron Robinson
Perhaps it’s worth creating a little sub-forum with a message for any guests to the site. Just something simple like a friendly invite for people who might want to join. I don’t think forcing people to register will solve anything, I mean look at all the people who have registered and rarely (if ever) post. Missy
Log out and you'll see just that. There's a section called "Dear Guests" that only guests can see; it's been there for a while now. EDIT: Des beat me to it. Guest
I noticed there's a post in there about when you stopped registration for a time due to spam. Maybe people still think that's the case.
Missy
Thanks for pointing that out, DW! I cannot believe I forgot about that post! I've gone ahead and deleted it, but     !
Aaron Robinson
Christ. Figures as much, I probably saw the idea first on this site too. Heck, I'm pretty sure I logged in just before I made that post as well, which shows just how observant I am.
