I thought it was a pretty cute episode.

I do admit, I wish they had stuck to the Doctor-lite aspects of the story towards the beginning at least a bit longer. I was all ready for the episode to be more about the Trio than about The Doctor and Clara. I mean, once they rescued the Doctor, they became incidental characters which was almost a disservice. Hell, Vastra did next to nothing the whole episode to be quite honest. Clara at the very least should have remained under glass until towards the end. Let Jenny run around with the Doctor for the episode if its that important he get free.

I kinda want Ada to stick around with Vastra and Company. I want to see them with the blind psychopath.

News on who John Hurt is playing

http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/john-hurt/25560/doctor-who-john-hurt-teases-50th-anniversary-role

Apparently he's going to play an aspect of the Doctor. I imagine they just rewrote the part that Ecclestone was going to play. I'm still hoping that they'll use McGann in there somehow.

An Aspect of the Doctor? Let's see... There's The Dream Lord. Or The Valeyard (YES PLEASE)....

Hmm. Was ok, not as good as last week.

Uncovered less than I would have liked about the Cyberman, didn't reconcile the counter universe stuff at all. I was hoping for more from Gaiman.

The Cybermen really are just the Borg at this point, there's no practical differences between the two aside from the cybermites now.

I agree.

It was a good solid episode with some nice moments. The Doctor battling for his own mind was nice, although not something totally original. Again, I too was hoping for a little more revelations from Gaiman. More about the new cybermen and more hints at what is going on with Clara but I guess we will get it all in the final ep.

Did anyone else see the prologue for next week or was that just a red button bbc thing for just the Brits?

Nice repeat of some dialogue from Doctor to Clara. Just teasing us even further

1) Why is the onus on Gaiman to explain the past Cyberman continuity?

2) As someone who hasn't seen the Borg, I didn't have a problem with the new Cybers.

I liked the episode. Not as good as the Doctor's Wife, but there was a enough going to make it enjoyable. Bloody hated the daughter character that Clara's responsible for. The brother isn't great either, but she was just hateful...

1- I saw it hinted somewhere that Gaiman was planning on acknowledging the history of the cybermen in order to generate the new ones.

2- Maybe if it was a lesser show, but Star Trek is the one show that has a larger legacy in TV scifi than Doctor Who. I know the Cybers have actually been around far longer than the borg but the mid-state transformations really seem ripped off.

So I loved that episode, Gaiman is amazing and in my mind he filled his brief of making the Cybermen scary again.

The two kids weren't brilliant, actors or characters but it didn't stop me enjoying the episode, I will definitely go back and rewatch this episode as I know there is more to find on the second and third watch.

I really, really liked this one. The "mind game" with the Doctor, Clara being a clever/commanding/adorable badass, all of it.

I did think the Borg similarities were a bit much, though. They literally used the Borg's two main phrases ("You will be assimilated" and "We have adapted") and rewrote them as "you will be upgraded" and "upgrade in progress." They're almost literally the same villain at this point, except the Borg are scarier.

But hey, I love the Borg, so whatever. You don't see anyone complaining that every sci-fi universe has identical space marines, now do you?

I'd heard Nightmare in Silver was a bit of an opinion-splitter, but I just don't see how. Ok, it wasn't quite as good as The Doctor's Wife, whic I largely put down to having Tamsin Outhwaite in it, but otherwise I thought it was tremendous. People seem to be criticising Matt Smith's acting too, which I don't get. And the kids weren't that bad and were conveniently "inactive" for most of the episode. Loved the new Cybers too.

This half-series has been patchy, for reasons I can't quite put my finger on. I loved Bells, was very cold on Akhaten (there wasn't really a plot, and I hate watching Dr Who and thinking about why the science doesn't work), Cold War took a second viewing for me to really like (and I wasn't keen on the resolution), really liked Hide, enjoyed Journey for what it was (except for the android brother thing - as IF - and the Big Friendly Button), and I loved the last 2 eps for completely different reasons. I have every confidence in Moffat to deliver in the finale, so I'm hoping the back end of the series will make up for a slightly lacklustre first half.

1. So your disappointment is based on some random rumour. Fair enough!

2. I don't dispute Star Trek has the larger legacy. I'm saying I've never watched the show, therefore whatever comparisons there might be didn't temper my enjoyment.

I'm just going to out and say it. Copies of the Series 7 Part 2 DVD have accidentally shipped. Right now a bunch of sites have spoilers. I think I speak for most of us when I say don't be a dick and spoil anything on the forums until Saturday after the episode has aired. Also, I urge caution since some Doctor Who sites might not list it and the Doctor Who wikipedia page actually got hacked earlier today.

Some people are putting up fake torrent files for "The Name of the Doctor." When downloaded, the file is actually gay porn. I can't decide if that's a horrible thing to do to people just trying to watch DW or an amazing thing to do to all the jerks trying to sneak a peek too early.

I get the sentiment, but more than one little kid is going to be exposed to it that way.
