JackFetch
"The Day the Earth Stood Still" is 20th Century Fox's contemporary reinvention of its 1951 classic. Keanu Reeves portrays Klaatu, an alien whose arrival on our planet triggers a global upheaval. As governments and scientists race to unravel the mystery behind the visitor's appearance, a woman (Jennifer Connelly) and her young stepson get caught up in his mission – and come to understand the ramifications of his being a self-described "friend to the Earth." The trailer:http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/thedayth...hstoodstill/hd/ You young'uns might not realize this is a remake of one of the most famous(and controversial for it's time) sci fi movies ever made. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0043456/

coolguy
The trailer at least looked really cool. But doesn't the effects of the dust stuff remind you of Galactus from Fantastic Four 2 MOvie. I really thought during the trailer, oh shit it might be the silver surfer, and then it showed keeanu Reeves. It still lokks cool though. George W.
Keanu Reeves as an alien? He finally found his range.

drqshadow
Well, that looks like it has absolutely nothing in common with the original... I'm both relieved and disappointed. The first is one of my all-time favorites. Klaatu Barada Nikto!

JackFetch
This is from the movie, and if I'm not mistaken that is Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.

JackFetch
Its Giants stadium. I guess if I would have looked closer it says Giants Stadium right on the front. Good call. Which brings up a question: Why do all sci fi movie disaster/invasions always take place in New York or LA? Makes me want to never go to either one, ever. NightAngle04
Because North Dakota just aint sexy enough.
drqshadow
I think setting the destruction in New York or LA ensures that most people will recognize the landmarks and realize what a big deal the moment is. Of course, when you've seen the NY skyline come down thirty times over the last two years, the effect is kind of lost...
