I grew up in the 80s watching him, and all I can remember is his promos. I'm pretty sure nobody remembers him for his wrestling over his mic work.

Depends if you just look at his WWF work or his wider southern wrasslin' background. I didn't watch much wrestling until after 2000, so I'm almost as likely to see him working in Japan or a pre WWF match with Piper as I am his WWF work.

Tony Halme, who wrestled under his real name with New Japan Pro Wrestling in the early nineties, and as Ludvig Borga for the World Wrestling Federation from 1993 to 1994, passed away last night in his native country of Finland. No details are available regarding his cause of death. He was 47 years old.

Halme was a former member of the Finnish Parliament, representing the True Finns party. He was also known by the pseudonym Viikinki he used while appearing on the Finnish version of the television game show American Gladiators (Gladiaattorit).

Though he is best known for his appearances in the WWF under the name Ludvig Borga, he was also an MMA fighter and professional boxer who held the Finnish Heavyweight Championship. In a trivia note, he was Randy Couture's first-ever opponent. On May 30, 1997, Couture won the match via choke in 57 seconds.

Halme retired from athletics in March 2003 in order to pursue a career in politics.

He celebrated his 47th birthday this past Wednesday.

Ha, Alex Wright, fantastic...

I had a thought last night, why is it thought by the PTB in TNA that what made WCW was specifically Hogan, Hall, Macho, etc? Couldn't I argue it was just seeing big names from a decade earlier show up, the nostalgia of it that made it? So if that is correct, if TNA wanted to replicate the impact that WCW had, shouldn't they be looking for the big names of the 90's to bring in? Not names like the Nasty Boys? I mean ideally, you would want Rock and Austin, but that just isn't going to happen. Or maybe TNA just really have no clue what makes a good wrestling character...

They've already spent a large portion of their existence nabbing names from the 90s - Booker, Angle, Christian and none of it worked. Star power doesn't mean jack all if you can't write a good, logical wrestling show.

The sad thing is, TNA has a much deeper talent roster than WWE, just no clue how to use them. Hogan isn't going to change that.

The Miz's promo last night about his rise in WWE was so fucking awesome. He should be a main eventer in the next six months.

I completely agree. MVP looked a whole lot better thanks to him. The guy can talk.

On PWTorch's website they have a poll on who the MVP of Raw was, and Miz is running away with it.

Just saw this on YouTube, and I have to say that I liked MVP's promo better.

That said, Miz's impersonation of JBL had my cracking up.

Really? I mean, of all the things wrong with TNA that's the last thing I'd change. In fact I'd grown to rather like it, it was a better fit for the X-division since the short post to post distance meant they got good springboards off the ropes. Just feels like they are changing the whole company to fit what wrestling was 12 years ago when they should be trying to find what works today and tomorrow.

Show opened with Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff coming out. He welcomed people to Genesis and people cheered. The whole place is chanting "We Want Six Sides" when they saw the four-sided ring. The crowd is booing the hell out of Hogan, no more six sides, no more eight sides, this is where pro wrestling is meant to be done. Crowd booing him even more. Our competitor only talks about sports entertainment and is afraid to use the term pro wrestling. Now Hogan said how he's proud of all the TNA wrestling fans and proud to be with Eric. Eric said nobody likes change but change is what we're about. Fans now booing Eric. "Get used to change because there's a hell of a lot more coming your way." Hogan said Watcha gonna do Vince McMahon when TNA is coming for you. Crowd cheered that line.

Sean Morley vs. Daniels

Even though Daniels did a heel promo to start the match, the crowd saw Morley as a WWE reject and didn't want him. Morley didn't get over at all. The crowd mostly did funny chants like "Washed up porn star" and "Sit down Brooke" when Brooke Hogan would do this fake getting into Morley in the front row. When Morley won, using the money shot, which I guess they are allowed to use as a term, the first few rows right in front of the hard camera all turned their back. Not a positive in any way when you've got a guy who last month was challenging for your world title losing to a guy who had been an enhancement guy for five years in WWE.

HA. I can't wait for this fucking company to die.

The only thing I'm hearing positive about all this is the fans. That and the ramp going straight to the ring, I'm a big fan of that. The fans are roasting everything that's changing though, I don't see them accepting hard working TNA talent like Daniels taking losses to Sean Morely. And I like Morely, I think he's a good worker who got stuck with a shit gimmick that ruined his entire career. That's no reason for him to continue doing it in TNA.

Good money, few days.

The Tara/ODB match was shit and I zoned out, I don't even remember who won, or even if I care. If I paid for this, I would be calling my cable/satellite company and ask for a refund.

Right, but he could be working in TNA and NOT doing that gimmick. He could cut promos about how that gimmick ruined his career, and how TNA was a fresh start, put over his new attitude and the company at the same time. Instead we get the same shit different show.

See, you added logic and common sense to that. This is TNA, where the only logic is "If it worked for WWE, it'll work for us!"
