Molly
Okay, on the subject of spandex. Why in the fuck didn't the Nolan films have Bats put gray spandex over the body armor? It would have looked comic-accurate and would have made Bats look less solid black.
Dread
The same reason you don't put a ballcap over a motorcycle helmet.
Molly
Well, yes and no. I think it could have worked, but it would have been less "real world." I dunno, it's the sort of thing I could see working in a JLA film.
KnightWing
Does gray/black spandex really work for live-action Batman? I think the closest that's ever been done is the fanfilm Dead End, and that didn't look all that amazing.
Molly
Again, not just over his skin, but over the body armor, I think it would look fine. EDIT: At least, that's what I assumed Bruce, Dick, Tim, Cass and Damian have been doing for years.

And no offense meant by using the word "gay" btw.
KnightWing
At least, that's what I assumed Bruce, Dick, Tim, Cass and Damian have been doing for years. That's actually the spandex itself; it's layered, sorta like cardboard. But metal.
Delete
Christopher Nolan has an interview in Empire magazine where he vaguely talks about Batman and Superman for a few pages. I found his reasons for why Batman and Superman should stand alone in their universes interesting and how he understands the difference between the characters and the differences between DC and Marvel
JackFetch
Though they're merely conversations at this point, DC Comics' Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns shared with Newsarama a few choice picks for what titles he'd personally like to see get adapated. The writer named characters and titles like "Wonder Woman," the recent Jaime Reyes incarnation of "Blue Beetle," the team "Suicide Squad," the Wildstorm series "Sleeper" and the Vertigo book "100 Bullets" as potential candidates for either film or television versions. "The real goal for me now is getting DC, Vertigo, Wildstorm and Mad to the big and small screen while staying true to the source material we all love," Johns told Newsarama, "...I'm in constant creative discussions about DC with the other divisions." While it sounds like none of these properties have, at this point, moved beyond the very earliest stages of conversation, Johns' sway could mean that this short list will be showing up sooner rather than later. http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/102058-geoff-johns-names-top-picks-for-adaptation
Dread
Wait...isn't that Paul Levitz's job? I mean, yes please ona an HBO Sleeper series. But for fuck's sake, let someone who doesn't write fourteen books I like do it.
KnightWing
Wait...isn't that Paul Levitz's job? Johns is the Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment. Levitz is just a contributing editor and consultant.

SuaveStar
Fuck. I'm so confused. Did he just step down? Is that what I'm remembering? Yeah, but he stayed in the chair till they found his replacement. Which was Didio and Lee, with Geoff Johns taking CCO.
KnightWing
*ahem* This is how it works now. DC Entertainment President and CEO Diane Nelson Co-Publishers Dan Didio and Jim Lee Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns
JackFetch
Earlier this year, it was suggested that some big announcements were coming from DC Entertainment. Many months passed by and when they didn't come at the San Diego Comic-Con in July, it seemed like DC Entertainment was going to wait and see how Green Lantern does before announcing further projects. That's not the case, as Warner Bros. CEO Barry Meyer announced at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference that DC is going to play a much bigger role at the studio going forward now that the "Harry Potter" films are coming to an end. According to Heat Vision, he said that "there will be an organizational announcement next week, then in about a month Warner Bros. will unveil a spread sheet detailing how the various superheroes will be reintroduced to consumers, and on more than just feature film platforms." Stay tuned. http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/107328-dc-entertainment-to-announce-its-superhero-line-up Harry Potter has been holding back the whole DC universe? KnightWing
Nah; it's just that WB needs a Harry Potter replacement, and DC seems to be the way to go for now.

JackFetch
Wonder Woman movie, finally, please?? They've been working on it for years. The problem is how to do it where she doesn't look hokey. A beautiful woman running around in a tiny outfit beating up people with a golden lasso while wearing a tiara sounds pretty stupid on the surface. When it gets done, I bet they change a lot of things.
KnightWing
They can do it if it's done right. WW's outfit is, essentially, a combination of several different types of Ancient Greek and Roman clothing & armor. Heck, in the animated movie, the costume is given to Diana after she wins the bullets arrows & bracelets tournament, in which all the performers are wearing a type of Spartan-inspired athletic armor that's not much less revealing than the WW costume. Also, a lot of it has to do with the camera angles and lighting. It might look trashy and stupid in a bad shot, but look great in another. It'd be tricky, but I think it'd be better to go with the classic costume rather than change it. The Lynda Carter TV series cemented the look of Wonder Woman in the mind of mainstream culture. Random, non-geek people off the street know Wonder Woman and what she looks like; a lot of them are actually really passionate about it. If they go around changing that iconic look too much, the reaction could be a lot worse than if they left it alone, goofy or not.

Captain America doesn't have a woman's body to complicate things. Anything that shows a hint of skin will make her look like a stripper.
