SuaveStar
On the Flash part right now. Mike, yeh cannae understand the Scottish banter! Yah maddie, when will yeh learn tae ken what they mean like. Yah bloody big wein. Did any of that make sense? So far a good episode. You two really hate this flash trade don't you? Also loving the new artwork Mike. On the Harley Quinn review now.
Missy
Thing is, I can get past the accent, but the vernacular is what stopped me cold. Due to Millar being Scottish, I'm assuming Mirror Master was spouting off real Scottish phrases. But had I not known that, I would have assumed someone was trying too hard to write a Scotsman. I don't know if I'd say we hated the Flash book, but we were disappointed by it.
Dan
It was a story with flashes of inventiveness, with art that (at least I personally thought) was pretty awful. It wasn't horrible, and now that I think about it, I have half these issues somewhere, because this was a book I bought off and on at the time (mid to late 1990s). But I didn't hate it at all. He is a creation of Morrison's after all and used a lot of Scottish vernacular in Animal Man.
Missy
Oh yeah. I forgot he's Scottish, too.
Dan
It felt a little too much like an American's idea of what a Scotsman sounds like, which was weird considering both wroters are from Scotland. It almost felt like what would happen if Garth Ennis wrote an Irish character who kept asking "Who's been after me Lucky Charms?"
Guest DCAUFan1051
Just finished listening have a few questions: #1 & Most Important Is Mike Turning into a copy of Brainiac?? there were a few times where mike's voice was very computerized #2 On the Harley comics in general is Bats or the joker ever in them or is it just her against the cops? #3 I dunno if you guys will ever or mike you have ever talked about this but I'd love to hear a review about the 4 issue set of DC Vs Marvel I would have posted a pic of the issues I have but I can't find the friggin things. Dan
The Joker is in this, but Batman isn't to any real extent (although Bruce Wayne makes a very brief appearance).

It almost felt like what would happen if Garth Ennis wrote an Irish character who kept asking "Who's been after me Lucky Charms?" That's what I was getting at earlier when I said had I not known Millar's point of origin, "I would have assumed someone was trying too hard to write a Scotsman." #1 & Most Important Is Mike Turning into a copy of Brainiac?? there were a few times where mike's voice was very computerized It wasn't that bad and it only lasted for a few seconds near the end of the episode, but yeah, my audio track got a little wonky. #3 I dunno if you guys will ever or mike you have ever talked about this but I'd love to hear a review about the 4 issue set of DC Vs Marvel If Dan picks it, I'll review it, but I honestly have zero interest in covering that series. I have JLA/Avengers somewhere on my list, but no, I don't think I'm gonna suggest this one, either.
Missy
When we eventually cover JLA / Avengers, please make sure that's the only trade we're discussing that week. Calling that series dense doesn't even begin to do it justice!

Mike on my voice comments I wasn't saying it was bad I was trying to have some fun with what I heard in the episode you sounded like a Brainiacs clone
Dread
Filling a book with characters and writing a convoluted story does not make it dense, it makes it a bad comic. Just saying.
