I don't get how this would work. I thought he only became OCD after the death of his wife? Will it just be like Encyclopedia Brown?

He was always OCD (You can see this in numerous flashbacks and dialogue), Though it was his wife's murder that pushed him over the brink, and had him discharged from the force.
