Guest DCAUFan1051
except that I've read a story that because of MGM's financial woes Bond 23 is on indefinite hold. check geektyrant.com for the full story
Delete
I just checked that geekyrant place and they are reporting Mendes as director too http://geektyrant.com/news/2010/1/5/sam-mendes-to-direct-bond-23.html

But it says in the director story that they are fast tracking it even if MGM goes broke. So what happens to Bond Films if MGM goes broke? Stavros
Interesting step for Mendes. Hopefully we get a measured and clever approach to Bond. Some action camerawork like we see in Road to Perdition could really work with an icon like Bond.
slothian
I've only seen Road to Perdition with regards to Mendes films (a film in which Craig had something of a role), but I'd still be exciting to see him at the helm. As my BITD colleagues have noted on more than one occasion, the Bond franchise can cast the most left-field of directors for its action films. As for the MGM situation, there seems to be too much momentum behind Bond 23 for Craig to fall the way of Dalton and have his interpretation suffer from a lack of movies. Also, whatever gets put out will make money - it just depends whose coffers the money ends up pouring into. That said, I'm no expert on the process of studio financing/acquisitions and the like. Tom BITD
I have this weird, cold feeling about the announcement of Mendes--another Craig friend, incidentally. And if the rumors about casting are also true....well, we may be in for a very, very, very bad entry.
