Delete
I first read that as C Thomas Howell was playing the Lizard and for the first time was interested in this movie. Then my hopes were dashed.
Koete
Although director Marc Webb is still shooting The Amazing Spider-Man, Sony has already signed screenwriter James Vanderbilt to start work on the sequel. Heat Vision reports that Vanderbilt, who worked on Sam Raimi’s aborted Spider-Man 4 before being brought in to pen the franchise reboot (later revised by Alvin Sargent), met Wednesday with filmmakers and studio executives to outline his ideas for the follow-up and get their approval. Although few concrete details have been revealed about the more character-driven Amazing Spider-Man, actor C. Thomas Howell confirmed last week that Rhys Ifans will, indeed play classic comic-book villain Dr. Curt Connors — aka the Lizard. Vanderbilt, who penned the 2007 thriller Zodiac and co-wrote the 2010 adaptation of The Losers, is also working on the upcoming remake of Total Recall. The Amazing Spider-Man, which wraps its Los Angeles shoot in mid-April, stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Campbell Scott, C. Thomas Howell, Julianne Nicholson and Annie Parisse. It will be released in 3D on July 3, 2012. Source I completely forgot Vanderbilt wrote Zodiac. I am psyched for this film now. SuaveStar
Those walls next to the elevator remind me of the OCP logo from Robocop. So, that's not a bad thing.
KnightWing
A ton of new blurry photos taken from Entertainment Weekly. Here's the highlights:

Stavros
I assume when the say its not a replacement they don't mean it. This isn't in continuity with the others surely?
JackFetch
It has to be a replacement since they are redoing the origin and changing his powers.

tglancy
That thing about the web shooters from the magazine is maddening. "newbies weaned on Raimi's films" can go fuck themselves.
You Know Who
That thing about the web shooters from the magazine is maddening. "Newbies weaned on Raimi's films" can go fuck themselves. WHOA dude!
KnightWing
I kinda rolled my eyes at that line. It's probable that whoever wrote that just doesn't understand superhero/comic book fandom in general.
Missy
A bootleg of the teaser trailer has hit the web. View it quick, 'cause they keep coming down.
Missy
The first-person segments seemed right out of a video game, and I hope they aren't in the movie.
tglancy
But they will be. 3D and all. Need to shoehorn it in.
Venneh
Yeah, the pov webslinging shots feel a touch gimmicky (though they might be better on a big screen), and there is a bit more brooding dark feeling about the whole thing (seriously, with that hair, I thought he was Edward Cullen there for a bit), but all in all, it's looking pretty good. KnightWing
I don't mind the POV just because it made sense for what they were doing in the trailer. That way you got the effect of the web-swinging, but still only got the Spider-Man reveal at the very end. I doubt it'll be in the final movie. JackFetch
That teaser was taken down pretty quick. Word is it might be in front of Captain America though so we'll see it soon enough. btw, the trailer is awful. I hope the movie isn't what that trailer portrays. Gareth
It almost looks like they're trying to put this in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Peter's parents being part of S.H.I.E.L.D.
