Dread
Fright Night sucked but it had eighties charm. I'll be interested in the remake. This is the kind of film they should be remaking. Not Rosemary's Baby for fuck's sake. I don't even know who that guy is though. Dr Who?
MaxPower
Putting this here so as to not derail the Iron Man 2 thread. With Tuesday's box office take of $511 thousand, Jon Favreau's Iron Man 2 has achieved the benchmark of having crossed the $300 million mark domestically, joining the fairly exclusive ranks of only 34 movies that have grossed that amount (not accounting for inflation). It still has some work cut out for it to achieve the $318 million amassed by its predecessor in 2008, as well as the $33 million it would need if it wants to surpass Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland as the top grossing movie of the year in North America. Internationally, Iron Man 2 has reach $295 million for a worldwide total of $595.3 million, which tops the first film's $585.2 million. http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/102522-iron-man-2-hits-300-million I've said it once and I'll say it again, these figures are basically meaningless. The dollar increases in value, bigger population, more screens, etc, etc. When someone can knock off Casablanca in adjusted figures, then I'll be impressed. But to derail my own argument, with cinema competing with so many other forms of entertainment, it probably will never happen. So maybe generation comparisons are more effective? Aaron Robinson
Hmm? I've never heard of Casablanca having particularly impressive numbers. Are you sure you’re not talking about Gone with the Wind?
MaxPower
Haha, yep, that's what I meant, Gone with the Wind. Casablanca was in my mind from trivia night the other night (famous lines that aren't actually said). I think Casablanca did really poorly at the box office, oops! Flashfan1
Does Earth-2.net: the show have any reviews on the Star Wars movies or the Indiana Jones movies? Or the Transformers movies?
Guest
The first Transformers live action movie was covered way back in episode 126. It was not a positive review.

Guest
Yeah, but they've been done to death.
KnightWing
Now that people have spent the last 5-10 years pointing out all the negatives of the prequel films, I think at this point it's actually a lot more interesting to examine the positives. There's actually a fair amount of good in them.
dc20willsave
After they get done with the Batman films, it would be an awesome topic for The Show.
Aaron Robinson
I know this is gong back to a discussion from last month, but: I can never be truly comfortable with what Bale did for the Machinist, but I think that's a big part of why it worked. Plus I think that's one of those things you only ever have to do once, he's not making a habit of it. Well, he did lose a ton of weight to play a prisoner of war in Rescue Dawn. I doubt he ever got anywhere near where he was in the Machinist, but he still looked pretty awful. Then he gained it all back again.

JackFetch
Steve Carell is leaving The Office at the end of Season 7. I hope they just cancel it. If they try to keep it going without him nobody will watch.
Stavros
New Top Gear started this week. Jeremy Clarkson's segment on the Reliant Robin was probably one of the funniest things that show has ever done. The joke just never got old. Molly
You want proof that there is no God? SyFy didn't pick up this pilot of Mike Mignola art in motion. Paul Giamatti as the hero, David Hyde Pierce as the villain and Corey fucking Burton as Abe Lincoln. I present: The Amazing Screw-On Head.
