Syfy is continuing its reality push by greenlighting three new skeins that are aimed to raise the nonfiction profile of the NBC Universal cabler.

"Marcel's Quantum Kitchen" taps into the cooking craze as chef and molecular gastronomist Marcel Vigneron plans the menu for a weekly event, ranging from affair as diverse as fairy tale graduation party to a Goth-rock fashion show. Skein is a production of Intuitive Entertainment and exec produced by Kevin Dill and Mechelle Collins.

On "Paranormal Witness," people who believe they have witnessed ghosts and aliens discuss their encounters. Raw TV produces with Dimitri Doganis and Bart Layton exec producing.

Third skein is "Face Off," a competition series exploring the world of make-up artists who have an expertise in special effects. Mission Control Media produces with Michael Agbabian and Dwight Smith exec producing.

Syfy, with "Ghost Hunters" and "Destination Truth" faring well, is set to launch a new reality night. Beginning July 15, cabler will preem "Mary Knows Best" and "Fact or Faked: Paranormal File" and air them weekly on Thursdays.

Scripted drama "Warehouse 13," the most-watched show in Syfy history, begins its second season July 6.

The fall TV season has claimed its second casualty: ABC's "My Generation."

The series lasted just two episodes; it drew just 3.9 million viewers Thursday and a 1.1 rating in the A18-49 demo, down 31% from its already dismal premiere episode.

The show was conceived as a sort of documentary following a high school class around 10 years after they had graduated. It had been given the Thursday 9PM, pre-"Grey's Anatomy" time slot.

This had shit written all over it.

Didn't The Simpsons do a parody of this style of show about five years ago?

CBS says that after just a month, it's giving full-season pickups to all five of its new prime-time series.

The network announced Thursday that it has ordered full seasons for the dramas "Hawaii Five-O," "Blue Bloods" and "The Defenders," as well as comedies "Mike & Molly" and "(Bleep) My Dad Says."

This strong rookie roster has helped CBS to a victory in prime-time viewership all four weeks of the season so far.

Several series on rival networks have already been axed. Those casualties include "Lone Star" on Fox, "My Generation" on ABC, and NBC's "Outlaw," which will soon fade from sight.

I've watched exactly zero of these shows, but I'm surprised they picked up all of them.

Also:

The CW is giving full-season orders to freshman dramas Hellcats and Nikita, along with veteran One Tree Hill.

The Walking Dead is coming back for a 13-episode second season.

The drama series, toplined by Andrew Lincoln, has broken ratings records, with the show reaching more viewers in the 18-49 demo than any other cable TV show after two episodes.

The Walking Dead's series premiere on Halloween drew 5.3 million total viewers and Sunday's "gutsy" episode took in 4.7 million -- that's an incredibly high retention of a record rating and surely made this pickup an easy decision for AMC.

The show was also pre-sold internationally through Fox International Channels, which is also going to distribute the show's second season.

“The Dead has spread!” said Charlie Collier, President, AMC. “No other cable series has ever attracted as many Adults 18-49 as The Walking Dead. This reaffirms viewers’ hunger for premium television on basic cable. We are so proud to be bringing back The Walking Dead again, across the globe.”

“I wish all programming decisions were no brainers like this one,” said Sharon Tal Yguado, SVP Scripted Programming. “The Walking Dead is a TV masterpiece on so many levels. We want at least 10 seasons, if not more”
