Guest
Hmm. After the Aladygma hoax, I was really hoping we could get something on Cloverfield 2. This looks mildly interesting.
D-Man
This played before IM2. Some CLOSE ENCOUNTERS imagery coupled with a JURASSIC PARK vibe. Intriguing but I hope the whole thing isn't as derivative.
Dread
Could it be Cloverfield 2? I got an enhanced super being in Area 51 vibe from it myself.
Venneh
It feels like a Cloverfield prequel, at least to explain where it came from. And if they actually film it in Super 8, that could be interesting.
D-Man
The official answer, apparently, is no, this not related to CLOVERFIELD. The fact that Abrams is directing kind of lends an air of truth to that statement. Plus, Speal-burg is involved. By the way, in case anyone was wondering, I hated Abram's STAR TREK reboot. NightAngle04
I saw the trailer and I didn't care for Cloverfield so I have mixed feelings about a JJ/monster movie.

dc20willsave
There's something hilarious about the trailer to me since it refers to a secure facility in Ohio and I'm typing two miles from said secure facility.

Dread
The summary of the trailer review at revolutionsf.com has the following to say: A train wrecks. Something knocks on a busted train car. And we have to wait a year.
D-Man
Don't worry. We'll have TRANSFORMERS 3 to tide us over.

D-Man
I guess I'm in a good mood after the movie last night. It ruled. Though, I've got a feeling my review was totally incoherent. A couple of beers and a head cold will do that.
Dread
"A couple of beers and a head cold" is officially now the title of my autobiography.
JackFetch
It's supposed to feel like an 80s Amblin movie. I think it does a pretty good job.

JackFetch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vtn5dm9uYi8 This movie looks amazing. It really feels like an 80s movie, and I even saw a Tie Fighter cameo.
KnightWing
...I even saw a Tie Fighter cameo. Good catch. TIE Bomber, actually. Yeah, I like how they don't actually reveal whatever the secret is.
JackFetch
The film, which takes place in the summer of 1979, features a group of friends from a small town in Ohio who capture something not of this Earth on their Super 8 camera after a devastating train crash. KnightWing
That would be unimaginably awesome. EDIT: The Cloverfield monster, not the smoke monster.

dc20willsave
Super 8 Will Shake Up Some Moviegoers With ‘Motion Effects’ Seating By Hugh Hart Email Author April 26, 2011 | 4:41 pm Moviegoers in select cities will be able to shake, rattle, roll and levitate in their seats as they watch J.J. Abrams’ summer sci-fi thriller Super 8 . Screenings are slated to take place in about 50 North American theaters that are outfitted with D-Box Motion Code seats. The “motion effects” technology activates pitch, roll and heave movements that shift audience members up, down and sideways in their chairs. “The content of this new picture is an ideal match for our incredibly realistic motion effects,” D-Box Technologies CEO Claude McMaster said in a statement. The Canadian company also enables on-screen actions to trigger what it calls “intelligent vibrations” for audience members. Produced by Steven Spielberg, Super 8 tells the story of kids who make home movies before stumbling upon a government cover-up of mysterious events involving aliens. The movie (see trailer below) opens June 10. Source So, apparently someone has seen Matinee and The Tingler.
