Koete
Variety has word that longtime visual effects supervisor John Dykstra (most recently of "X-Men: First Class") has signed on to make "Tales From The Farm" -- one of the books in cartoonist Jeff Lemire's award-winning Top Shelf trilogy "Essex County" -- into his directorial debut under the new title "Super Zero." The film will be produced by Steven Gilder and Alec Chorches, developed by FX company Rhythm & Hues Studios and come from a screenplay by John Carr. Originally published in 2008, "Tales From The Farm" explores the relationship between a young boy named Lester who after losing his mother to cancer forms a strong bond with a hockey player turned gas station owner, and the pair survive their lives with the help of fantastic flights of fancy. Variety's article indicates that "Super Zero" will be live action but will rely heavily on FX work for the fantasy scenes. "I've been so involved in films that are primarily based on the action sequences and over-the-top visuals that this to me was incredibly attractive just based on the depth of the characters and the evocative nature of the story," the director said. SkylerQ91
I have never read it but always heard good things. Should be interesting to see since I live in one of municipalities of that Essex County. -Skyler
Koete
That went nowhere, because it's now being developed as a CBC tv series.
