Venneh
He was also pretty damn good in True Grit. And all they're using is his voice, as far as I can tell, not mo-cap/makeup.
Stavros
Good, they need to keep that awesome evil cgi Thanos from the Avengers teaser.
Missy
I dunno, the remake of Oldboy wasn't entirely terrible and he wasn't the thing that made Men in Black 3 completely suck.A belated Post of the Day!

Did I miss the meeting where it was decided that Men in Black 3 completely sucked? Brolin's a good actor and I'm sure he'll be great. Dread
Well, none of them are great. The second is shit and the first one does not hold up. The period aspect of the third gives it a level of class and interest the others don't have.
KnightWing
I do like the third one to a mild degree. But I still think the first one holds up as "a 90s sci-fi action movie."
slothian
Oh, MIB 2 is horrible. I think the original does hold up, but it ends too abruptly. MIB 3 is a refreshing change of pace.
JackFetch
It goes 1, 3, 2 for me. It's not that 3 was so good, so much as the standard set by 2 was so low. 3 is a perfectly fine sci fi movie, but nothing special.

dc20willsave
One of the things I've liked about all the trailers is how tongue in cheek they've been. It's what made it all feel unique. That one is a pretty typical Hollywood trailer.
Stavros
There was cool stuff in that trailer and funny stuff at the end but honestly, tone-wise that might as well be a Riddick movie. Let's emphasise the fun people!
KnightWing
Actually, I think they desperately need to show something other than comedy in the trailers. Thus far everything has made the movie look like it's a really bizarre comedy, not a fun action movie. We comics fans get it because we recognize it from the comics, but I don't think most people have any idea what they're looking at when they watch the trailers. When I last saw the first Guardians trailer in the theater (during a screening of The Winter Soldier, mind you) there were a lot of people in the audience whispering back and forth about how they were confused and didn't understand what they just saw. Sure, this new trailer is kinda heavy on the self-serious epic stuff, but at least it's providing more of the complete picture.
dc20willsave
That's the thing though. This is generic. Note that with every previous trailer, the connection to Marvel isn't toted front and center. That's because you're emphasizing an Action Comedy with some quirky elements.. This is so generic that if it didn't tell you it was Marvel, nothing would set it apart I go to see a movie, there are really only three trailers. Comedy Trailer with 50% of the jokes already there. Moody trailer filled with scenery porn and a musical clip from Two Steps From Hell. Maybe a wisecrack from the Comedy Relief character. CGI Cartoon movie. That's it. The trailers we have had are none of those. The newest one is firmly in trailer group 2. If I saw that at the theater, I would yawn or roll my eyes because it looks just like the trailer before and after. There is an art to cutting a trailer. The people who made the first few trailers have nailed it because, even if they didn't know what was going on or were confused by the trailer, I'm sure those people who saw it remembered it later. This is in firm opposition to the trailer for whatever Adam Sandler comedy, Dreamworks Animated thing with a celebrity voice cast, or Chris Pine political thriller. KnightWing
That's all very true, but I think if they want to sell to the masses, they might have to do some more generic marketing. Niche geek comedy/action marketing is part of what hurt Scott Pilgrim so badly. By having this epic, serious trailer after we've already had the other comedy-heavy trailers, it spreads the movie's appeal more broadly. And besides, a generic trailer is only going to turn away film nerds who sneer at that kind of thing; 90% of moviegoers respond to generic marketing because they can understand it and get behind it. Donomark
Judging from the trailers and early reviews, I think Guardians will be a typical "Good, not great" Marvel film in the vein of Thor 2. It'll be entertaining enough, but it doesn't look like it'll be the game changing awesome-a-thon that the initial trailer had people proclaiming it would be. Dan
My hopes are not for an earth-shattering, world-changing experience that will leave me fundamentally better than I was before. I'm looking for two hours of fun that doesn't take itself seriously. I think I'm gonna get that.

Stavros
Agreed. Who is seriously looking for a Marvel film to change the world? All I care about is that it's good, and it makes enough money to keep building the universe.
