Formerly Known as The Justice League

In a venture to create a superhero team "for the people", the shameless Maxwell Lord recruits JLI mainstays Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Fire, Elongated Man, and Captain Atom, as well as newcomer Mary Marvel, known collectively as the "Super Buddies". As they battle Harvard hoodlums, superhero battle fixers, and each other, an old enemy descends upon Earth, hellbent on reclaiming L-Ron, Lord's frustrated but dependable robot assistant.

I'd pretty much adapt the mini-series of the same name. The only major thing I'd change would be having the Super Buddies ultimately taking care of Manga Khan rather than having the real Justice League swoop in and upstage them. If it was successful enough to warrant sequels, I'd adapt I Can't Believe It's Not the Justice League (which features Guy Gardner and Power Girl) and close the trilogy with a story where the Superbuddies have to deal with Lobo.

What do you mean, like a do-over?

I mean a second round. Sequels, new movies. Such as Marvel are doing after the Avengers.

Maybe later, but I'd like to do a Marvel universe or Vertigo-themed one first (not organized by me though).

If we do a Vertigo-themed one, I hearby stamp a claim on Lucifer. :)

Apokolips

  • Younger Scott Free attempts to escape (again), captured, bought to Vunderbarr for re-education, repeat this process a few times, gets older
  • Falls down into the slums on a later repetition, meets Himon by falling into the middle of his class
  • Himon brings him into the class, he meets Barda
  • Through Barda, we meet the Furies, and through both Barda and Scott, we meet Granny Goodness, get a sense of both Barda and Scott's dissatisfaction, this comes out through lesson montage, both from Himon and Granny
  • Mother box/Himon tells them about new Genesis, interrupted by an enforcer who seemingly kills Himon, sends them all for a particularly brutal reeducation
  • Scott and Barda comfort each other, Himon shows up (lol, not dead!), tells them how to escape NG - boom tube, at a specific location across planet, be there in a day, and you can escape
  • High chase pursuit between Scott, Barda, and the Furies, they barely escape to

New Genesis!

  • Everything is awesome and peaceful, so of course Scott and Barda start making out, Orion finds and detains them
  • Bought before the Highfather, Highfather freaks out and tells them they need to go back, because of the pact, and Scott and Barda are "??"
  • Cut to Apokolips, Granny informs him that the Furies have failed to capture Scott and Barda, Darksied (in shadows) says good
  • Cut between Darksied and Highfather as they explain that Apokolips almost annihilated NG once, and they created a peace pact and the switch - and that the pact is only effective so long as Scott and Orion stay on Apokolips and NG, respectively
  • All hell breaks loose on NG as Granny, Desaad, Vunderbarr, and the Furies invade, and we get to see Darksied in action as he utterly decimates NG
  • Good job, Scott, the closest thing to paradise that you've ever know is now in total warfare, not nearly prepared for it, and it's ALL YOUR FAULT. :D

End Movie 1! Can be either duology or trilogy

If you don't want to read my long winded story, then skip to the last paragraph. It's highlighted. And Stavros, it's your go.

The film revolves around the ventriloquist, and his murderous antics. He usually leaves a scene with three victims, two are his audience, the third is the puppet he uses for his act. It becomes clear to Batman, Gordon and Al that the victim who plays the dummy is usually killed hours before the other two, and The Ventriloquist performs an act for his "Captivated" audience.

Bruce meets Julie, and starts to fall for her, but pushes her away, as he's worried that his dual identity as Batman, will end with her hurt.

Dr Arkham, comes to Gotham after his marriage failure, and takes over the asylum, he goes on local talk shows, yet clearly hates his job, and Batman for bringing the crazy "Rogues" into his life. Arkham stars to look into Batman, and realises there may be another book in the making "The caped crusader: My time with Batman" and starts to dig into the history of Batman, how he came to Gotham, what his goals are, and just what makes him tick.

Gordon is being forced to retire, as he's just to old for this now, Batman sadly has to agree when he finds Gordon is being targeted by The Ventriloquist. In the scene that follows, we have The Ventriloquist talk about his past, how he was once like Batman, the thrill of the audience, the captivated eyes, but then, they grew tired of his act, just like Gotham will of Batman. He then precedes to slit Commissioner Gordon's throat, however it is not fatal as Batman is able to stop the bleeding long enough for EMT's to arrive. Rather than run away, The Ventriloquist is quite captivated by his actions, before attacking Batman as he helps Gordon, screaming "You're ruining it! You're ruining everything!" It's quite clear at this point, The Ventriloquist is clearly no match for Batman, as he is slapped against to the wall, knocked out with one shot.

Dr Arkham is brought in to talk to The Ventriloquist, The Ventriloquist does not have a past, no name, he doesn't even like to be called The Ventriloquist. Dr Arkham asks The Ventriloquist what brought him to Gotham, to which The Ventriloquist replies "I was invited" This leads Arkham to say that Batman brought this monster to Gotham, and thanks to the heroes in MCU and Commissioner Gordon, the city is now safe, but Batman has brought so many so called "Super-villains" to this once great city that he is now asking, acting Commissioner Telmissus to issue a warrant for he arrest of the Super-Villain known as Batman. The Ventriloquist smiles as he hears this.

Telmissus issues the order the next day, for the arrest of Batman on site, Gordon may have accepted Batman as a helper, but with hundreds dying because of his actions, they can sit by and let him treat Gotham as his playground any longer.

The next part of the film features Bruce and Alfred talking about maybe it being time for Batman to die, become the urban legend he once was. Alfred says that maybe that's for the best, Bruce has spent over ten years fixing the city, maybe it's time to let the law be back in control, and focus on Miss Madison. That night, Bruce has a dinner party, to officially announce to the press his relationship with Julie Madison, and his intentions to marry her, if she'll have him.

As this goes on, a visitor comes to The Ventriloquists cell, opening the door, The Ventriloquist looks up and says "You're late" The shadowy figure drops a bloody knife in The Ventriloquist's cell, The Ventriloquist's smiles.

Alexander is at the party and thanks Bruce for his support in Gotham's time of need, and informs him that Gotham will be in safe hands with him. Alexander's phone goes off, and he takes it, and says the words "How did he get out? Get everyone down there, protect Gordon, get available man to Gordon now!" Alexander apologises that he has to leave. Alfred earwigs the conversation, and Bruce tells Alfred that he cannot let Gordon die at this man's hands. He says that after tonight he's done as Batman, but not before he says Gordon. Alfred then says he'll take care of Ms Madison, and make sure the guests are gone by the time he returns.

Batman goes to Gordon's room, and finds out that it was a wild goose chase, that The Ventriloquist has attacked someone downtown, and his holding another person hostage. Batman goes after The Ventriloquist.

Batman finds out that it was a wild goose chase, and decides to go back to the manor. However when he enters, through the batcave, he finds a trail of blood, he follows the trail, to his drawing room, where a beaten Alfred and Dr Arkham are unconcious, as The Ventriloquist performs his act, as he uses Julie Madsen as a living doll. The Ventriloquist talks about how all of life is a stage. Dr Arkham has his asylum, Alfred has the manor, and Batman has, or had Gotham, and Ms Madison, and precedes to slit her throat, Batman starts to run for her, before The Ventriloquist reveals that there's no point, he hit her juggular, she was dead before she hit the ground.

Batman starts to beat up The Ventriloquist as sirens go off, The Ventriloquist says his partner "Mr Scarface" called them. Batman asks who this partner is, but the Ventriloquist just laughs and Batman has to run, to hide in his Bruce Wayne guise, and act like he was attacked in the bathroom. Alexander finds Bruce and has to inform him that they have caught The Ventriloquist, and that he will be going to Arkham for a long time, but that Ms Madsen is dead.

The funeral of Ms Madsen takes place, and newly appointed CommissionerTelmissus attends. Gordon decides to pack up, and leave Gotham, as there is now truly nothing there for him, his children have grown up, and he is has been given the offer of early retirement, and he's taking up.

The Ventriloquist is in his cell and a Mr Scarface appears before him "Did I do good Mr Scarface?" The man who we don't see throws down tablet into the cell, and walks off, The Ventriloquist looks at it, sighs and ingests it. We then here sirens and people screaming, The Ventriloquist has somehow ingested a cyanide pill, and is going into shock.

Telmissus is at a press conference, talking about The Ventriloquist and how if it is the responsibility of Gotham to use any chances to keep anyone alive, even The Ventriloquist. A reporter asks if he will rescind the warrant out on Batman. Telmissus remarks that no, Gotham does not need Batman anymore, and it is time for the soldiers who show their faces, to take back Gotham from the wrong.

Telmissus enters his office, and sits down to have a drink, and he says "How long have you been there?" revealing Batman in the room "Long enough" Telmissus talks about how he should arrest Batman, but Batman says he should break him in two, for bringing The Ventriloquist to Gotham.

Telmissus claims to not know what Batman is talking about. Batman then informs him that he was always suspicious of Telmissus, how he climbed the ladder so fast, how he was able to know so much about Batman, but the thing that annoyed Batman most was his name.

Alexander Telmissus and The Gordian Knot. The cutting of a knot, it's all just one giant Riddle. Batman said it took him months, but he has finally dug up enough evidence to link The Ventriloquist, to Edward Nygma, who several years earlier, as the warden at Blackgate was one of the first victims of The Ventriloquist. Telmissus applauds Bruce, feeling like they are on real first name terms now, he knew he would be a worthy challenge, years went by, and Nygma just felt like an outsider, watching all these losers come through Blackgate, he knew they weren't worthy of the great Batman, they weren't patient enough to truly destroy him. Batman says that Nygma's actions have had the opposite effect, he's now made Batman stronger than ever, he nearly had Bruce quit being Batman, but by destroying the woman he loved, he made Bruce realise that the world needs Batman now more than ever.

Batman says Nygma made Batman's life easier, now as an urban legend, no one will know if Batman does or doesn't still exist. Nygma on the other hand, has played his game so well, that he is now in charge of Gotham's police force, and will be the target of everyone who wants a piece of the action in Gotham.

As Batman leaves Nygma starts to realise what he has done to himself and drops his head into his desk, as we hear a call coming through for the commissioner to help with a "Code green on the bridge, The Joker has escaped custody!"

Long story short: Ventriloquist kills people, kills Julie Madsen, turns out he's working for Gordon's second in command, who's this universe's Edward Nygma, and Gordon retires, as Nygma becomes the #1 target for criminals in Gotham.

Pre-credits,a robotic voice picks out a cocksure blonde teenager of the 25th century, owning the corridor of his high school. His real name is given as Michael Jon Carter, but Skeets (for it is he) notes that this teen is the future legendary hero, known as Booster Gold. The titles display a montage of Carter's futuristic football successes and subsequent fame, along with his sweet-talking of his female classmates and his poorly mother and disinterested sister attending his games.

With his sister Michelle laying into him for not doing more for their mother, Michael looks for a way of profiting from his football status as "Booster Gold". He starts by trying to cash in on his college sport celebrity, but this inadvertantly leads him into meeting a few gambling bosses who, playing to Michael's ego, get him into fixing matches. Michael obliges and starts to secure funds whilst ensuring his reputation remains entact. However, Michael realises that he has neared the cost of his mother's specific treatment and tries to negotiate a final higher sum to ensure all the money's available before his mother's condition takes a turn for the worse. Instead, his contacts expose him to the media. Instantly, Michael is arrested, exposed and sentenced to jail. His name is in tatters, all the money he'd saved is forfeited back to the authorities and his one visit is Michelle, coldly telling him neither she nor their mother will have anything to do with him again.

Upon his release, Michael applies to as many jobs as he feels able to do, He gets none of these, and we next see him being shown a 25th century janitor's closet. Humiliated as he monitors the cleaning robots at the museum he works for, Michael takes a particular interest in the exhibition on the Earth's heroes of the 21st century, and studies their lore instead of doing his job properly. It is here where he activates Skeets, a robot on display, despite him being specifically told not to touch anything. Skeets fills Michael in on a number of things, including the golden power suit on display and its abilities. Noting that there was one tragedy the Justice League was unable to stop - the destruction of a municipal building at the hands of a villain called Shockwave - Michael begins thinking of the acclaim he could recover if he relocated to another time period. He attempts to steal the suit, but the futuristic security systems kick in, sealing him in and alerting the authorities. With time running out, Michael dons the power suit and begs Skeets for a way out. Skeets suggest using the time travel technology within the exhibition, whilst binding himself to serve Michael. As the guards burst in, Michael hits the device, smirks and disappears with Skeets.

Arriving in the 21st century hours before Shockwave's historic attack, Michael tries out the power suit outside of Central City with Skeet's help. Feeling confident, Michael makes his way into the city and reaches Shockwave before he can carry out his mission. Shockwave belittle the newcomer and kicks his arse, but Booster starts to fight (and quip) back, ultimately defeating Shockwave with Skeets' help. As the crowds flock to him and cheer for him, a microphone is thrust in his face as he's asked who he is. Michael replies "Booster Gold!"

This footage is watched by a shadowy figure on television, who receives a phone call from the apprehended Shockwave, who is verbally chewed out. However, the shadowy figure assures him that he should be ready, as he's still needed in the plan. As Booster finishes giving evidence to the police, he's approached by Dirk Davies who offers him representation and a place to stay for the night (which Booster accepts, as he has no recognised legal tender). The next day, Dirk awakes Booster to tell him that their state senator Henry Ballard wants to meet him that day. At the press conference, Ballard publically thanks Booster for his actions the day before and asks him what he intends to do next. Booster replies "Go to Disneyland!" A montage then plays, showing Booster and Dirk setting up Goldstar Inc. and Booster endorsing as many things as possible whilst stopping (petty) crime. Booster is shown to be having the time of his life at Goldstar offices, riffing with his secretary/PA Trixie Collins. He's visited by Blue Beetle (Ted Kord/Paul Rudd) who's sent on behalf of the Justice League to find out more about the newcomer. This leads to the pair hitting the town and establishing a rapport, whilst a paparazzi photographer gets a picture of them drinking together.

With this information feeding back to the shadowy figure, named over the radio as "The Director", he orders that the 1000 strike the penitentiary. As such, the city's prison is overrun by men and weapons, leading to a mass break-out, which includes the suited-up Shockwave. The hung-over Booster attempts to quell the flow, and manages to protect the public from violent escapees. But Shockwave makes a bee-line for Booster, and even with Skeets formulating plans of attack for him, Booster's senses are dulled enough for Shockwave to beat him senseless. With Booster KO-ed, Shockwave then smashes Skeets before moving off. In aftermath, with the picture of Booster and Beetle drinking being leaked to the press, Dirk and Trixie do as much PR damage limitation as they can as Booster mourns Skeets, knowing he has no idea about how to fix him. With Senator Ballard questioning Booster' usefulness and ego over television, Michael regrets the damage he's caused by wanting to be famous. He attempts to return to his own time by returning to his time travel device, only to find it deactivated. He's then flanked by the costumed Director, who notes that he knows that Booster is a time-traveller and his presence at this place and time is a deliberate attempt to rewrite the history he's about to create. The Director orders Booster's execution, with Shockwave leading the 1000's troops. Booster uses his natural athleticism to escape back to Goldstar Inc.

Upon Booster's arrival, he finds Kord there, who has managed to fix Skeets. Booster relates to him what he's learned about the 1000, but doesn't know their ultimate goal. Kord promises to have his back whenever called and returns to report back to the Justice League. Skeetes relates that the most notable event that's about to happen that day is the assination of the vice president nominee, whose position is filled by Senator Ballard. Thinking the Director is behind it, Booster and Skeets fly to the open air press conference, which Ballard is attending alongside the VP-elect. Booster takes the podium, to Ballard's ire, and uses it to sincerely explain his insight into events from his past and how he's there to ensure no-one gets hurt. Cue Shockwave, who has a knock-out fight with Booster. Ballard looks to discretely take out a syringe from his pocket, but Blue Beetle flies in and grabs the VP to whisk him to safety, to Ballard's fury and Booster's appreciation. Together, Booster and a vengeful Skeets take down Shockwave as the remaining 1000 retreat. Booster looks up and sees the public giving him adulation once more.

Shockwave is flown outside of town to a high security facility whilst Booster and Beetle are publically rewarded on behalf of the now vice president and senator Ballard. After the ceremony, Beetle notes the rest of the JLA want to meet him, to the response "Who wouldn't?!" Meanwhile the Director tells the assembled 1000 that theire most immediate priority is taking out Booster Gold, and revealing himself to be Ballard.

From here:

- Plays into the Super-buddies film as well as Booster's first meeting with the JLA.

- Booster v the 1000

- Michelle follows Booster with the Goldstar suit to tell him about their mother/his crimes for altering history and the subsequent fallout.

- Boosters changing relationships with Dirk & Trixie.

- Rip Hunter.

Ok, my basic idea is as follows, I might flesh it out later.

The film starts in 1945, at a dock n Manhatten. Sandman in investigating what appear to be smugglers bringing in crates of equipment, gassing lookouts and making his way onto their ship. Upon examination the equipment is all labelled in german and he finds an insignia for the elite scientific corps. Surprised by a huge german (captain nazi in plainclothes) he attempts to gas him but the gun is crushed and Sandman is unmasked as Dian Belmont. She is murdered and in germany, her boyfriend Wesley Dodds screams and wakes from his dream.

Upon returning from military service Dodds falls into deep depression after Dians murder, his investigation going nowhere with little help since there's no proof she was killed, he traced the ship to north africa but there was nothing conclusive, all logs and records were gone, and the ship was sold to its new owners anonymously. He drinks with former hero Crimson Avenger, but when catching a glimpse of Dians killer in a newspaper photo about a scientific institute in the city he begins anew.

Throughout all this we get flashback to Dodds and Belmont before the war, fighting gangsters using snapshots by papers to switch between then and now, for instance as a flashbulb captures Crimson Avenger and Sandman standing over fallen crooks it cuts to them in a bar, etc.

Anyhow, (I'll flesh this bit out later) the photo leads to Dodds investigating the institute through links to politics, military and eventually its leader Vandal Savage, who it turns out was the faceless threat he'd been chasing in europe during the war. He kills Captain Nazi by blowing up a gas gun in his face, and uncovering Savage as a Nazi and for public perceptions sake he is put on trial and imprisoned. But of course for Vandal Savage a prison sentance is the blink of an eye...
