JackFetch
This article has some interesting numbers about this Fall tv season so far. DVR playbacks are up 17% from last year, and Big Bang Theory(yeah I know some of you hate that show) is now the most DVR'ed show passing Sunday Night Football. NBC has crawled out of the gutter to become the number one network for the 18-49 age bracket. Duck Dynasty, a show on A&E about a family that made their fortune making duck calls, was the number 10 show out of every show on tv last week. It's not listed here but I looked it up, the season premiere had 11.8 million viewers. That's fucking insane.

JackFetch
Fox announced their Winter premieres. Bold new legal drama RAKE debuts with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, Jan. 19 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), following the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, and continuing with its time period premiere on Thursday, Jan. 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Making his broadcast television series debut, Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Greg Kinnear ("Little Miss Sunshine," "The Kennedys") plays a brilliant and frustratingly charming criminal defense attorney, whose chaotic and self-destructive personal life often gets in the way of his professional one. Beginning Saturday, Jan. 11 (11:00 PM-Midnight ET/PT), ANIMATION DOMINATION HIGH-DEF will feature LUCAS BROS. MOVING CO. and GOLAN THE INSATIABLE. In LUCAS BROS. MOVING CO., the stand-up comedy of New York-based identical twins Kenny and Keith Lucas (The Lucas Brothers) gets animated. The twins run a moving company, and no matter what happens around them, they always remain totally, bizarrely unfazed. GOLAN THE INSATIABLE is the story of a mighty godlord from an alternate universe who arrives in the small town of Oak Grove, where his only friend is a 10-year-old goth girl named DYLAN. As previously announced, on Saturday, Nov. 23 (11:00 PM-Midnight ET/PT), as part of a special ANIMATION DOMINATION HIGH-DEF lineup, LUCAS BROS. MOVING CO. and GOLAN THE INSATIABLE will preview, prior to their January launch. As previously announced, new Army-set comedy ENLISTED debuts Friday, Jan. 10 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT). Written and created by Kevin Biegel ("Cougar Town," "Scrubs") and starring Geoff Stults ("The Finder"), Chris Lowell ("Private Practice," "Veronica Mars") and Parker Young ("Suburgatory"), ENLISTED is a single-camera comedy about an older sibling who returns home to reconnect with his two brothers and lead a group of misfits on a small Florida Army post. This spring, new comedies SURVIVING JACK and US & THEM will debut on FOX; series premiere dates to be announced. From Emmy Award nominee Bill Lawrence ("Scrubs," "Cougar Town") and set in 1990s Southern California, SURVIVING JACK stars Emmy Award nominee Christopher Meloni ("Law & Order: Special Victims Unit") as a man becoming a dad, as his son (Connor Buckley, "Deception") becomes a man, in a time before "coming of age" was something you could Google. SURVIVING JACK is set to air on Thursdays (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) for eight weeks, following AMERICAN IDOL (8:00-8:30 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) results shows. New ensemble comedy US & THEM will also join the schedule in the spring. Starring Emmy Award nominee Jason Ritter ("Parenthood") and Alexis Bledel ("Mad Men," "Gilmore Girls"), and based on an award-winning BBC series, the series follows a young couple, whose path to happily-ever-after is complicated by the screwed-up circus of people closest to them. JackFetch
Shows likely to be canceled: Once Upon a Time in Wonderland Betrayal Dracula Dads Shows on the bubble: Super Fun Night Trophy Wife Revenge The Michael J. Fox Show Sean Saves The World X-Factor (this show took a nose dive for some reason) Bones Mindy Project Glee (they already said they are doing another final season but who knows with these ratings) Raising Hope The Mentalist (although it looks like this might be the final season anyways) Beauty and the Beast Carrie Diaries Other notes: Parks and Recreation is doing pretty bad ratings, but it's still the highest rated comedy on NBC. dc20willsave
And that's the thing. A lot of executives are still living in a state of mind where the overnight ratings are god and I can understand that train of thought but we don't live in that age anymore. Plenty of people just don't have the time to devote to watching a certain show every week at the same time, especially when we don't have to rely upon something as unreliable as the VCR. The Networks and the Advertisers should embrace Hulu and their online streaming sites. People can't skip ads and they can watch an episode multiple times, increasing the number of views. Unluckily, most execs don't care because, in their day, we could get the Flintstones to sell cigarettes to kids and why can't we do that anymore and who took my teeth? JackFetch
The main thing is to make the show better. It's still considered a comic book show, but doesn't feel like one. It's boring people who expect nonstop action and special effects.

Luckily, Nielsen is finally going to count streaming numbers beginning this month. We probably won't know the effect for a little while, but those viewings are finally going to be counted. And with the exception of CBS, the major networks actually own Hulu, so they clearly have a vested interest in getting this right. And they have to know how many people watch on their homepages, especially now that (as you said) you can't get away from their embedded commercials. They are partners in The Edwards Agency, an unusual business based on the belief that people's decisions are influenced by their environment in ways they're not aware. Clark is a former university professor and world-renowned expert in the fields of human behavior, psychology and motivation. But Clark has mood swings which are a result of him not taking his meds for a bipolar condition, sometimes resulting in quirky, manic episodes. Older brother Ross, a brilliant schemer recently out of prison after a two-year stint for fraud, has come up with the business model that he believes can make him and his team millions of dollars. Although his energy is infectious, his tactics can be questionable and his strategies border on the illegal. Now, if he can just avoid letting his manic brother from going off the rails... Only behind the beautiful homes and perfect lawns of Chatswin lurk the Franken-moms and Red Bull-guzzling teens who have nothing in common with Tessa and George. In seasons one and two, with the help of suburbanites like flirty hot mom Dallas (Cheryl Hines), alpha neighbors Sheila and Fred Shay (Ana Gasteyer and Chris Parnell), and awkward classmate Lisa (Allie Grant), George and Tessa learned to navigate the pitfalls of suburban life. With time, they realized life in Chatswin wasn't so bad. Once you got past the plastic smell. This season, George and Tessa find themselves more at odds with bucolic Chatswin than ever before. George struggles to once again navigate life as a single suburban dad after a tumultuous breakup with Dallas. While Tessa, abandoned by her mother at the start of her senior year, no longer has any interest in trying to fit in. So she and George recommit to walking amongst the suburban hordes without becoming them. Only Chatswin's pull is stronger than they anticipated. Elsewhere, after the Shays' beloved son Ryan heads off to college, they welcome an unexpected new addition to the family, one that is a new thorn in Lisa's side. Luckily, she can focus her attention on Malik as they take their relationship to new heights. And Dallas deals with both the loss of a relation and her relationship with George.
