  1. This being a season premier, it was a special episode. And if Lex really wanted to know Clark's secret, he would have tortured Ma, Pa, Pete, Chloe or a million other people by now. Lana not knowing is silly at this point.

While I take a different viewpoint than you Mike on this, I will agree it was rushed, make it a 90 min (like when Batman Trailer but this time do a trailer of the new Superman DVDs set instead) & follow it w/ a new CW comedy & have Supernatural premire next week.

Pete is in Witchita KS not seen since Season 3 ended. And Pa Kent is 6 feet under so unless Lex does a seance w/ pa Kent he is out of luck there too. Ma & Chloe would die before turning on Clark & his secret. Besides Lex knowing Clark's is a BIG NO NO in Superman mythology. I agree Lana should figure it out by series finale.

  2. Boo.

Whatever happened to professionalism? Call me old-fashioned but a monthly book ships monthly. McNiven needs to do some quicker work. Sure, he's ultra detailed but he shouldn't be allowed on a monthly book if he can't keep up. Simple as that.

This extra month means that it'll be two extra months until I get to pick it up at my local comic shop. Work starts with a vengeance in September and what with the new mortgage I won't be hopping on a ferry anytime soon. Weak.

How about getting some headway on a story before you start publishing it? Now it throws off the whole whack of tie-in books? What a colossal cock-up. Hitch coming to defend the whole thing seems like dark humour to me. Has he ever done a monthly book on time? I love me some Ultimates and I'm just happy that, a la Planetary, they aren't fooling themselves by soliciting monthly anymore.

    I totally agree,

    Daily Bugle: Civil War Edition

    Marvel can DROP DEAD!

Do the book on time w/ quality writing & quality art in the bag or don't solclit the dang series in the first place. I am giving my extra money to DC trying out 3 new titles & trying out indies.

That is it for me w/ Marvel & their event books. If they really good, I will get them in trade form. No news of this screw up at WW Chicago. I will still get my core Marvel titles of She-Hulk, Captain America & Daredevil. This news has started a real Civil War: on time or late late late!!!!

    Pissed off Marvel fan,

    Matthew

  3. Do I have the feeling a Master Yoda rant coming about Marvel's Civil War? The Marvel Universe is in great danger, Luke. Future very dark indeed, Jedi. Hopes the DC Universe learns from the competitior's mistakes & misfortune. As for me, DC will get 3 additional books from me as punishment for Marvel's tardiness.

Books on time--The Jedi Force Wills It to be,

    MARVEL's CIVIL WAR DELAYED

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In information released to comic book retailers Tuesday, Marvel has announced that issue #4 and 5 of their hugely successful Civil War series are being delayed.

Civil War #4 [and all its variant cover editions], originally scheduled to be released tomorrow, is now scheduled for September 20th. Issue #5 and all its variants, originally scheduled for next month, is now scheduled for November 15th.

And because of the nature of the storyline, the delays in the main series will affect the related and tie-in titles, like Civil War: Front Line.

    In the announcement, Marvel wrote:

“Over the next few weeks, the Civil War proper title and a few of the tie in books that are closely related to the story in the main book will be shipping later than originally planned. NEW ADDITIONS TO THE CIVIL WAR CHECKLIST!

BLACK PANTHER 23 CW December 2006

CIVIL WAR: WAR CRIMES December 2006 ONE SHOT

BLACK PANTHER 24 CW January 2007

BLACK PANTHER 25 CW February 2007

CIVIL WAR FRONT LINE 11 February 2007

Also, starting in November some Marvel will be branded as “Casualties of War” -- similar to how they branded titles as “Spider-Man Unmasked” and “Road to Civil War”. Those titles are:

    MOON KNIGHT 7

    In December

    CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER SPECIAL

    IRON MAN/CAPTAIN AMERICA SPECIAL

    MOON KNIGHT 8

    In January 2007

    BLADE 5

    MOON KNIGHT 9

“The need for these shifts came about as the September [for November shipping product] Marvel Previews #37 was going to press and we were not able to make adjustments,” reads Marvel’s explanation to retailers. “The December Marvel Previews will reflect the changes and additions. At this point we do not anticipate further changes to the schedule. We apologize for the inconvenience but feel that this is in the best interest of the quality of the event and for retailers to continue to realize the immense sales for these books. We are announcing these shifts early enough in the hopes that retailers can adjust their buying patterns for the next few months. Also, we hope the addition of a few more key Civil War titles will make up for any lost sales that result from these moves.”

I am soo pissed off, DC will be getting 3 additional titles from me as punishment for Marvel's Civil War royal mess up. Marvel's loss is DC's gain.

  5. Pee Wee Herman was arrested for showing his "pee-wee" at an adult xxx theather showing "Nurse Nancy". Pee Wee paid a fine and a few public service announcements, he was given a clean record and Pee Wee Playhouse closed up shop until Adult Swim. Reubens was arrested again in 2002 in connection with an investigation involving child porn. On March 22, 2004, child pornography charges against him were dropped after he pleaded guilty to a separate "misdemeanor obscenity" charge.

The sad life of Pee Wee.

On August 16, He Will Appear On Jimmy Kimmel Live.

  6. Finished listening to the show and I just wanted to say thanks again. For providing a detailed look at CW & its tie ins. Props to you Mike, talking & talking & talking about Civil War, even when you talked about current events & mini rants it was enjoyable. I really enjoy both of your efforts. Can you provide a list of Major tie-ins for CW in you & Jenny's opinon that are a must have in list form?

Looking fwd to E2-net #50 next week & your next CW episode next month,

    Matthew

  7. The Daily Bugle CW special was very enjoyable. A mini-treat with all the 70+ CW tie ins, it was nice to get a comic for 50 cents. Still listening to the show. DC books & Marvel & Marvel CW is raping my wallet monthly. In Dec. books, I will do alot of cuting of both DC & Marvel to try new titles.

    Rock on E2-Net!

    Matthew

  8. I'll hold my rant until you guys have had a chance to hear both the Vertigo and WildStorm panels. It wouldn't be fair to rant beforehand; I'll save that for our WWC recap show.

I will say this, however: it pains me to see DC treat their fans with such disregard. While I'm not the biggest DC fan in the world -- I do read a handful of their titles and just recently got into several others (i.e. Legion of Super-Heroes, Jonah Hex, Superman) -- even I feel slighted by them. As a way to show my frustration, I'm thinking about writing Dan DiDio a letter letting him know why I'm aggravated and that I will not support DC until I see their Vertigo creators and editors (and Bob Wayne) making an effort to embrace the fans. (At the earliest this would be Wizard World Texas.)

In truth, it was mostly Bob Wayne who put me off. He always has, but this weekend he seemed to be like, "Why the fuck am I here?" Sure, Will, Brian and the other Vertigo guys (save Brian Azzarello) didn't help, but Wayne was the worst offender.

Is it fair to punish all of DC (including WildStorm) for the actions of their VP of Sales and a handful of Vertigo creators? Maybe, maybe not. That's where I'm conflicted.

Please provide a address for Big Dan at DC to give him a piece of our minds.

    Matthew

  9. Thanks for the update, I will look forward to Wizard World Cons news. I am looking forward to our Blade review.

Thanks Master Yoda & hopes the internet problems you have are experiencing are fixed,

  10. Thanks for the warm invite, Michael. I will be looking forward to all three episodes next week. I really enjoy the weekly heads up about next weeks comics, especially the Civil War reprints info. Thanks so much to you & Jenny for the quality podcast you guys put up.
