  1. I also liked the last track on Disk 2 - "Music Of The Bat", where it's a mix of explanation (I didn't look, but I assume it's Lolita Ritmanis, although it could have been something Shirley Walker recorded before she died).

It's Shirley Walker. The liner notes say it was part of an audio interview she did back a few years back. I didn't hear the track until today, but I got to agree with you - it's really fasinating how the slight variations of it provoke different emotions. That was something I never picked up on. Just goes to show how incredibly talented Shirley Walker was. What a fitting tribute to her. :)

  2. I got the CD in the mail today and I've got to say - it's REALLY well done. The tracks are all remastered so it sounds absolutely incredible! This is not a half-ass compliation in any way. My favorite would have to be the first track on disc 1 called "Gotham City Overture", a 14-minute score combining all the various characters themes (such as Batman, the Joker, Batgirl, Clayface, etc.) together into one beautiful piece. It was kind of fun to listen to it and name who's theme it was. Also there's a 20-page booklet where not only does it give liner notes on each group of episodes, but some very touching words from Bruce Timm, Danny Elfman, and Paul Dini about Shirley Walker (to whom the CD is dedicated to).

It's absolutely worth picking up and I hope La La Land Records decides to continue the series.

  3. I can't wait to illegally download this!

    Oh come on!

Someone has to ruin it for everyone else.

Illegal downloading is bad and I don't approve of it. But if there's an mp3 floating out in cyberspace somewhere, I certainly wouldn't mind getting a copy of it. You know... for preservation of it in case of a nuclear fallout. :)

  4. Hey guys! Something occured to me today that I had to go back and re-listen to the podcast. And sure enough, neither one of you mentioned what happened to Mr. Freeze in "Cold Comfort"! I'm sure it slipped both of your minds but you'd think it'd at least get some reconition. I especially got a chuckle when all the villains were being named off and whether they changed during "Gotham Knights" or not. If having your head being taken off your decomposing body isn't change, I don't know what is. :P

  5. Hey guys; chances are you've already thought of this but since you're going to be devoting an entire episode to the "World's Finest" three-parter, and the musicial separations in the earlier episodes were quite nice - please consider using the theme to the "Batman/Superman Adventures" after you're done reading the viewers e-mails.

Shit. That was just one sentence.

  6. The latest episode of John Siuntres' fantastic Word Balloon podcast features an interview with Andrea Romano, who basically cast and directed the voice actors for the entire DCAU (from Batman: TAS to Justice League Unlimited to the current direct-to-DVD projects).

I have yet to listen myself, and from the blurb they seem to focus on New Frontier, but there is sure to be some talk on the older stuff.

Word Balloon: Andrea Romano on Directing the New Frontier

I thought it was absolutely fasinating to listen. Romano has such a vibrant energy to her that I can easily see how she gets actors to give her their best performances. I had no idea Kevin Conroy was going to be voicing Batman in the "Gotham Knight"! If there's some folks out there who haven't listened to it yet, I seriously recommend it. My only complaint was it's too short! :)

  7. Okay, well look I haven't seen Brainiac Attacks yet, so I don't know how much it sucks, but it's NOT apart of DCAU continuity, so it will not be on the podcast. For those of you who like that film or just want to review it, than create your own podcast and do it, perhaps James and Mike can send a MP3 of there comments to joi in on that podcast. But it aired during Justice League, so it would be very confusing to go from an episode of Justice League and than to a non-DCAU movie because of it production # date.

Talk about timing.... I never saw "Brainiac Attacks" until I was over visiting my nephew a few days ago.

I'm still crying. God, make the pain go away....

  8. The only idea I can think of is playing an audio clip of a particular scene in each episode, just like how you do at the end of each podcast. Of course that would mean how you played audio clips before would lose some appeal - but it's the only thing I can think of at the moment. Sorry. :shakehead:
