Aaron Robinson
I saw the Alvin and the Chipmunks trailer for the first time a couple of days ago, it looks even worse that what I thought it would. I’m kind of interested in seeing this, but I think I’ll probably just pick up the novel catch it on DVD later.
Dread
I’m kind of interested in seeing this, but I think I’ll probably just pick up the novel catch it on DVD later. Good plan. That said, I heard that Alvin and the Chipmunks were supposed to be a rap group in the updated film. So it truly isn't THAT bad.
Aaron Robinson
I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic… since the movie really does look THAT bad. I read months ago that Alvin and the Chipmunks was going to be gangstafied for modern audiences, but any unpleasantness I saw from the poster was trumped by the trailer which featured Alvin comically eating his brother’s shit. drqshadow
I had a choice between seeing this and "No Country for Old Men" yesterday. I chose the latter.
JackFetch
I finally got around to watching it, and going into it without having read what it is based on seems to help. I thought it was ok up until the woman and kid show up. The scene with the dog(you know the one) made the movie even though I saw it coming a mile away. It seems like people are trying to read too much into the movie also. Some people seem to think it was teaching some religious message, and that's not what I saw. Now that I've heard how the book goes, I can see why people would be upset. They should have named it something else at least.
Aaron Robinson
Saw the movie and read the book. I enjoyed them both, although the book was far better. I agree with Jack that the movie faltered when the mother and kid were introduced.
