I watch this show on and off again. Everytime I get back in to it I realise a few little things that make me like it more. Stuff like Clark always wearing red and blue, Lex' development, etc.
Hell even the way they have been introducing other main superman and JLA characters has been done quite well.
lol I watch it on and off again too. It's just a show with some really good ups and a lot of really bad downs. The problem is that the ups are good enough to make me stay during the downward spirals of crapcake plot twists [Read: The Tori Spelling Episode]. (>__<) Lex's character is what mainly keeps me coming back, that and the hopes that either Lana learns Clark's secret or that she becomes a heartless wench and becomes one of Clark's enemies. That would totally rock. Lana as a formidable enemy. I totally dug those episodes where she had those supernatural powers and was kicking Clark's red-n-blue butt, just in case you couldn't tell. =3
Oh, and I'd have to disagree on introducing other JLA character's well. I like the way they breathed new life into the Flash, Green Arrow, Aquaman, and even Cyborg (not really JLA but oh well), but I just can't stand the way they intro'd the Martian Manhunter, if that's what he is. (T___T)

I would see that maybe before I, Robot I may have been annoyed at the news about Shia, but he doesn't annoy me as much anymore. Maybe it's his dissociation from the Disney Channel that did it.

There are so many movies out there, so this definitely isn't a complete list of my favorites, but these are the movies in the forefront of my mind that I could watch a countless amount of times and either see something different, or just enjoy it immensely. There's also a few category additions I hope everyone will add on to. I sorta just had to find somewhere to put Escaflowne and at least ONE or two Miyazaki movies. =3

Oh, God yes. I think this movie is one of those films EVERYONE needs to see sometime in their lives.

All right, here's a recommendation if no one has seen it just yet: Reefer Madness. Starring Alan Cumming, Christian Campbell, and Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars fame, it's just a hilarious musical parody of the 1936 reel of the same name. I just started watching Veronica Mars so now is when I find out who Kristen Bell is. The little light bulb went on with the thought, "Hey! Isn't that the girl from Reefer Madness?!"
I finally got around to buying this gem, after seeing it countless times on Showtime, and I tore it open only to find nothing inside the box but the disc. Bummer right? Wrong. The manufacturer SCENTED the DVD. What did it smell like, you might be thinking? Three guesses and the first two don't count.
Amazing choreography, singing, you name it. Heck, a movie with lines like Joan of Arc saying, "I'm Joan of Arc! No martyr works it harder!" while in a Las Vegas-style lounge in Heaven headlining Jesus? A must for anyone with the remotest sense of humor. Is that word? Don't care. I'll make up words for this movie. XD
Any fellow Reefer Madness lovers out there?

I guess I'll be the first one to jump on the hate-wagon. I reaaaaallly hate Sailor Moon, or what I've seen of it, anyways. My little sister rents videos of it all the time from the library, and it's so... corny and awful. The dialouge, animation, and basically everythnig about it just makes me cringe. From the way you describe it, James, this is probably the "bad" version which you spoke of.
I can see where you're coming from, Pablo. The American episodes are a real turn off. It's a marvel I sought out the originals and followed the franchise up to the live action series after being exposed to just the American version of the anime. But trust me, after you get past those seasons the plotlines start to resonate a bit more, especially in the movies. I would say that you could get away with liking the movies and not the whole show because the animation in the movies can't be faulted, and the storylines, along with character relationships, and explored a bit more than the "monster of the week" format of the series.
It's kind of like the situation with Inuyasha: the show drags out to exhausting proportions without anything really happening, but the movies really carry most of the momentum as far as furthering characters and plot. Especially after watching the series finale of Inuyasha, I'd totally just own the movies. =3

I agree that this is a very confusing series. I've only seen five episodes so far and that's caused me more headaches than I usually have in a year. I definitely agree about complexity adding to the series though.since Vision of Escaflowne is my all-time favorite anime of all
You're quickly starting to grow on me Marit. Escaflowne is one of my favorites too. At home I have the entire series and, very unfortunately, the movie. The first disk got a really deep scratch in it a couple of years ago but IrBen Entertainment, the local anime rental store, has the same four-disk set so I'll be able to get a replacement soon, probably this weekend. The movie was very disappointing though. I haven't had a look at the new manga series yet but it looks disappointing as well.
Another Escaflowne fan! I'd glomp ya but I'm still a newbie. =3 But yeah, the movie is not exactly my favorite, although I do watch it when I need my Escaflowne fix, and I have the soundtrack, which is just amazing. I also have the other Escaflowne soundtracks, but I think the movie one gets the most play with Lovers Only from the series at a close second. The movie character designs are pretty interesting. I like the older Van, although he does seem bit more savage than I'd like, but I definitely like the older Hitomi. It kind of makes the whole story a bit more mature to have the core characters look like they can handle a bit more. Merle is hilarious no matter where she is, anime or movie. Oh and Folken! I absolutely love him no matter what. The Escaflowne itself is pretty amazing in the movie, so on that count I'm not disappointed. As for actual story, the movie is like an ultra-compressed version of the series and would make no sense to a newb. Only hardcore Escaflowne fans need apply.
I'm glad you're getting your replacement set of the series soon though, but stay away from the manga. I'd like to say again that I absolutely love Escaflowne. I have mini-posters, wall-scrolls, pins, and even a custom Hitomi pendant from the movie, but damn, volume two of the manga is as far as I got. It reads like something out of Shonen Jump. Dragon Ball Z as far as depth goes, but definitely worse. Utterly disappointing. Hitomi is objectified, has a ditzy personality with a cup size bigger than her IQ, Van is just worse than the movie as a complete blood-thirsty oaf, and the story just falls flat. Oy.
I think I might pop the movie soundtrack in now. XD

I actually grabbed this series up not too long agao and the only thing I have to say is "My head hurts." I'll prolly try going through it again but everything in this show confused the hel out of me.
Yeah, although that's something that I really appreciate about the show. The complexity is what really got me behind the characters, and rooting for them, you know? Because the humans are pitted against a force they really don't understand. Plus, the whole idea behind there having to be Harmony achieved through use of a Tuner, I think it was, is just ultra-cool because those are abilities in the blood of some unsuspecting person out there. Fate is a powerful thing to work with within an anime. Escaflowne works along much the same lines. These extrordinary people are drawn together to fight an altogether not unfamiliar foe, fighting tooth and nail for their world. Great stuff. (^^)

I watched the entire Sailormoon Sailor Stars series about 8 months ago and it's so damn sad. The last 7 episodes or so are just depressing as hell. But that's a sign of a well-written series.

Most definitely a great series, although I didn't agree with how many times core characters tended to die and return from the dead, but I guess it's all apart of what makes the series work. (^^)
The live action series made me cry, but for different reasons. It's more based on the manga, which is a little weird to see on screen (ie. Tuxedo Kamen never throwing not one rose), but it definitely lends to more drama, especially with Sailor V. OMG, now *that* made me cry. And I could identify with Sailor Mars' situation with her estranged father, so that was another tear-fest. Definitely a good series no matter what the form.

Harrison Ford Announces Indy 4 Deadline
Harrison Ford has told George Lucas and Steven Spielberg that if they don't get Indiana Jones 4 off-the-ground next year they can find themselves a new man to wear the hat.
The 63-year-old tells Contact Music that, t's looking very good to do another one. I haven't felt this positive about it happening in a long time... but if it doesn't happen in the next two years we should all forget it."
The latest is that the film will begin shooting in Autumn this year.
How long has this been going on? Probably longer than the JP4 rumors and several other franchise rumors combined. Heck, there's even a Back to the Future sequel rumor out there with Michael J. Fox playing the older eccentric Doc-like character. Although, I think those were Michael's words while he was musing aloud. At any rate, imho, Harrison will end up playing a character as old as Sean Connery's. I remember reading articles about thrown out scripts involving our Indie in the 1950's or something. I have no idea. It's like every time ID4 is mentioned in movie news, another script's been thrown out or someone threatens to drop out.
I adore the original trilogy, The Last Crusade being my favorite, but shouldn't some sleeping dogs just, well, you know.

Sailor Moon was great, even if I only ever saw the Cartoon Network version. It was one of the first anime I'd ever seen, it's a great starter because the plots are interesting and the characters are loveable.
Definitely a great show. I absolutely love it from beginning to end, and the live action series was equally cool. I cried just a little during some of the eppies. Very emotional. And so, I must get all fan-girl post-a-rific on you guys with some avi's I made in 2004. XD

I'd hate to betray the series, but RahXephon: The Motion Picture really did more for me than the series. I think it's probably because I saw that adaptation first rather than seeing the series. G4 aired the series last year under their Anime Unleashed banner, and I set my DVR so I wouldn't miss an episode, but I quickly saw that the anime was a long-winded version of the movie. With the movie, everything was streamlined and to the point, but the anime was quickly beginning to feel like the second season of Lost.
So, my personal pref would be The Motion Picture, but you're definitely right, it's a stunning anime no matter in what form. It was right down my alley, since Vision of Escaflowne is my all-time favorite anime of all. Anime with heart that just happens to have mechs. Friggin' awesome. (^-^)

Yeah, I heard about that on one of the podcasts I listen to; DVD Verdict? May have been, may have not, but one thing is for sure; I will have one more huge incentive to stop watching Smallville until Clark grows a pair.
