    Episode 144

In this massive episode of Dread Media, Desmond and Darryll debate the finer points of Lovecraftian cinema, gore, and misogyny after viewing City of the Living Dead, and The Human Centipede (First Sequence) inspires Desmond and DW to write poetry and follow their dreams. Combined with Desmond's musings on Celebritygeddon and the following tunes, it's 100 minutes of gut-wrenching terror: "Father's Grave" by Melissa Auf der Maur with Glenn Danzig, "Paura Suite One (Gates of Hell) - Tears of Blood" by Penis Flytrap, "Centipede" by Strapping Young Lad, and "'Til We Die" by Slipknot. RIP Dennis Hopper, Paul Gray, etc. [ 1:40:01 || 45.9 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/podcasts/dreadmedia/episodes/dreadmedia_144.mp3

  6. The most controversial era of World's Finest Podcast begins here, as James and Mike start their discussion of the divisive Teen Titans! First, Cyborg leaves the team in a huff ("Divide and Conquer"), then Starfire's conniving sister pops up ("Sisters"). Next, Slade pits the three-member HIVE against the heroes ("Final Exam"), and it's up to the team to stop the living embodiment of thunder and lightning ("Forces of Nature"). And rounding out the six reviews, Cyborg must fight for what makes him human ("The Sum of His Parts"), and Raven has to deal with her inner demons ("Nevermore"). Episode 143

In this huge episode of Dread Media, Desmond interviews Vincenzo Natali about his upcoming film Splice, and his classic dark sci-fi work, Cube. Then DW is back, and he and Desmond talk about Stargate: Atlantis, their in-development werewolf / vampire buddy cop show, and, oh yeah, the Cube series. Hint: the first film's really good, one of the films is really bad, and it wouldn't be a DW / Desmond discussion if they didn't disagree about something. Then the show is rounded out with an off-the-cuff What Music They Make, paying tribute to the metal legend Ronnie James Dio. Tunes include: "Hybrid Moments" by The Misfits, "Man in the Box" by Alice in Chains, "CUBErt" by System of a Down, and "Holy Diver" and "Scream" by DIO. RIP Ronnie James Dio. Listen to Megan stretch to find things not to like about a classic! Thrill at both hosts disliking of horse stunts! Marvel at Desmond's ability to compare two films that have never been compared before in the history of film criticism! Also, does Desmond get turned down after propositioning his wife? 16. Well, it's been fun, but this is the end of our Chrono Trigger discussion. In this bittersweet edition of Extra Lives, Aaron and Damien finish up the side-quests and then give Lavos what-for. If that wasn't enough, the guys have a lot more to say about all that is gaming. What major recent release did Damien hate? Why does Aaron need a rusted metal codpiece? What exactly is South African Caveman Punk? The answers to all that and more, in this, the longest edition of Extra Lives yet! 17. With their Bond podcast nearly over, Ian and Adham are less than overjoyed that the penultimate episode of For Your Ears Only is devoted to talk about the franchise's uncertain future, and the 1967 spoof spy flick Casino Royale. Where 007 is a retired knight of the realm, Vesper Lynd is actually Honey Ryder, and Le Chiffre is a minor antagonist who delights in magic tricks. Pointless plot twists, characters that take the middle third off, and a burping Woody Allen are just some of the topics discussed. Also, the feedback is fully updated, and special announcements await about next month's final installment! Episode 141

It's a Greg Lamberson special here at Dread Media as Desmond and Darryll battle over the 1989 cult classic Slime City. But how do the two feel about its long-awaited sequel, the yet-to-be-released Slime City Massacre? Listen to find out. Plus, Desmond reviews Greg's latest novel, Frenzy Way. Slime songs aplenty: "Slime City Song" by Holy Mary Motor Club, "Slime City Massacre (Demo)" by Dead House Music, "Slime City Massacreeee" by Crankdaddy, "The Wolf is Loose" by Mastodon, and "I Melt With You" by Nouvelle Vague. 24. In my quest to successfully enter the realm of anime / manga fandom, I've hit a few roadblocks. Most mainstream offerings are just too goddamn happy for a curmudgeon like myself, and a lot of the more action-oriented works still find a way to slug along at a painfully slow pace, stopping after every punch to let me know what the hero is thinking of having for breakfast the next morning. Video game tie-ins haven't faired much better, as the Street Fighter manga read like little more than a discarded Dragonball script. As you'd expect, this has left me little in terms of options. There was only one more chance to get me into anything not named Gantz; I needed to read some horror. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/a/parasyte-01
  25. "Once upon a time, years and years ago, there was a little princess, and she was very sad, for her father and mother had died. Before the princess appeared a traveling prince riding upon a white horse. The prince wrapped the princess in a rose-scented embrace and gently wiped the tears from her eyes. 'Little one,' he said, 'who bears up alone in such deep sorrow, never lose that strength and nobility, even when you grow up. I give you this to remember this day. We will meet again. This ring will lead you to me one day.' Perhaps the ring the prince gave her was an engagement ring. This was all well and good, but she was so impressed by him that the princess vowed to become a prince one day. But was that really such a good idea?"
