  1. Here's my question: wasn't there supposed to be a zero issue? There are five Wednesdays in April, yet only four issues have been solicited. Did DC change the last issue from #0 to #1?

#0 will be out in May and be written by Grant Morrison and Geoff Johns. It will actually be the intro issue of Final Crisis, and will be the only issue of Countdown i will be purchasing.

  3. I fully understand the "dead celebrity plus spilled pills equals OD / suicide" thinking, but the pills could have been knocked over as he fell to his death. Or he dropped them earlier, fully intending to pick them up, but never got the chance.

i believe it has been confirmed that this cavalcade of pills spilled all around Heath was actually one bottle of prescription meditcation still sealed on his nightstand next to him.

  4. ABOUT BIG MO':

What is Big Mo’? Sure, it’s a candy bar, but it’s also everything that Dale Jr. loves—including chocolate, peanut butter and caramel. Big Mo’ is racing. The way you need it like oxygen, because it’s in your DNA and if you’re not around it, you can’t keep going. Big Mo’ is your buddies. Hanging out ‘til all hours of the night crackin’ jokes, playing pool and just kicking back and having a good time like you always do. Big Mo’ is being true to yourself. When you get right down to it, that’s the only thing that matters—doing what you love because you love it and not needing any other reason.

After reading that it seems like this candy bar is a metaphor for homosexuality. Suddenly the name Big Mo' makes a lot more sense lol

  5. The regular Angel/Buffy comics are BAD.

they weren't all bad. I dug Brian Lynch's work on the various Spike series, most of the stuff in the first Buffy omnibus is pretty good especially The Origin, and there were a few others as well. I will agree though that there were definetly far less hits than there were misses.

  6. As it pertains to the scene being a clue, in my review I said as much. However, this goes back to Batman's inconsistency throughout the years. Sometimes it's hard to tell just how far he'll go. Recently he's been portrayed as both a smiling father to Tim, and as the gruff "leave your date now" guy. There's always been a certain amount of mental abuse levied upon the Robins and considering how dark comics have become, I wouldn't put it past DC to inject physical abuse into the Batman / Robin relationship.

I think that's taking it too far. Having one of your flagship "hero" characters strike a child would be taking them to a far too irredeemable place. Mike, I have to say i am actually kind of bummed that you didn't dig this book. There aren't that many mainstream superhero books that i was looking foward to more than this series and it seems like it's generally been well recieved elsewhere, but i would be lying if i said that most of your criticisms sound like things that wouldn't irk me as well. I still have to wait until the end of the month to read my copy but until then there's nothing else i can really say about it.

  7. Killing Joke is available in an tpb novel called "Across the Universe: The DC Universe stories of Alan Moore" (or something like that). The new pringtin has Killing Joke and The Last Superman Story not included in the original printing so make sure you get the new one.

it's actually DC Universe: The Stories Of Alan Moore, the old printing is called Across The Universe.

  8. While the scene in question is a little jarring, i think that the fact that it happens at all should be a clue that something is wrong. But if it isn't than this is a huge oversight on the writer/editorial side of things and definetly has no place in a Batman book of any kind especially one like this that seems to be aimed at children. All that aside though, i am still looking foward to reading this series and i have already ordered every issue solicited so far. I would be happy to review future issues for you guys since it appears that Mike and Des atleast won't be picking anymore of this series up.

  9. While the I Am Legend movie wasn't great it definetly wasn't abysmal, but then again i have followed the production of this movie for a long time and have read several versions of this script (including the final shooting script) and i can say that many of the things that you guys had problems with were actually things the studio did to the film over the course of the last few months before the film opened in theaters. The original ending that was shot was far more in tune with the book, and stuff you guys pointed out as plotholes (like the bridges, and the alpha male/alpha female, etc.) were going to play out more in the original cut but since test audiences didn't like it, they were forced to go back and re-shoot the horrible ending the film has now.

The first hour of the movie was excellent in my opinion, and i thought it captured the feeling of desperation i felt when reading the book quite well. The film was really beautifully shot and the scenes of a deserted New York were breathtaking. I thought Will Smith did a great job, and the dog Samantha played off him really well. It's a shame that the last 20-25 minutes in this cut was so awful that it ruined to me what was otherwise a really good movie. My only other complaint was the awful CGI used in the movie and I don't understand why they couldn't of just used some dudes in makeup instead.
