TO PROMOTE HIS ATTEMPT TO RECAPTURE GUINNESS WORLD RECORD/
NOISIVELVET ANNOUNCES INDOOR GARDEN INSTALLATION
(CHICAGO, April 2012)
Adham Fisher, of Leicester, England, and Nikki Huber, of Schaumburg, Illinois are
joining forces and boarding the CTA to cross promote Adham's attempt to re-capture his
Guinness World Record for riding the entire Chicago L system, and Nikki's mission of
showing how the community can affect the world in a positive way.
The noisivelvet organization is proud to welcome Adham Fisher to Chicago in his attempt to
recapture his Guinness World Record for the fastest travel time on the Chicago L System.
Joining Adham, and promoting her mission of showing how the community can affect the world
in a positive way, will be Miss Earth Illinois Nikki Huber, of Schaumburg.
L Riders will indeed be quite curious when they see Adham in a lush green jacket made of grass
and Nikki in a full gown, sash and tiara. Adham, Nikki, and a few members of noisivelvet will
greet morning, afternoon, and rush hour “L” riders and taking questions from curious riders.
In addition to promoting their causes and goals - they are joining together to help noisivelvet in
announcing “Alterpolitan: An Indoor Sculpture Garden” taking place on Thursday, May 3, 2012,
from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at 77 South Dearborn.

sculpture garden at 77 S. Dearborn for your enjoyment. The space will be completely
transformed with wall to wall living greenery. The garden will be open between May 3rd and May
24th. On May 3rd we will be hosting a reception complete with complimentary beverages and a
chance to meet the great artists we have teamed up with.

Hello all.
Yours truly will be in Chicago from April the 23rd to the 29th for a week of CTA activity. There is potential for good publicity and I've been trying to contact Mike to ask about doing something for Earth-2, but without success. Mike, if you read this, please email me, or maybe someone can point him in my direction. Any others in and around Chicago, tell me what you're doing next week.

Hello all. Exactly as advertised and hell to the fuck yes.
This is slightly overdue, but I wanted to say that meeting all of you was excellent. It's a pity I didn't attend the convention with you due to the L run (keep an eye on that blog, because my account of the day will be published soon) and taking weight out of my suitcase in the form of vinyl to music stores (Mothers' Day is now available on 12" at Reckless Records, Dave's Records and K Starke Records, and you should buy it to offset my travel debt). Those activites took place in the Friday and Saturday daytimes respectively, then there was pizza, walking and drinking with you fine people.
On Sunday I became a tourist and went up Willis Tower wearing my Mylo top and duly dropped pressure on the whole city from the glass box. I also went to Andersonville in search of bakeries in my city guide book. I walked past two resale (charity) shops, went in and was astounded at their size - one was practically a warehouse - and their content. In Britain, charity shops are almost as common in certain cities as big chain supermarkets; there can be dozens and I do wonder how much money goes to charities when the overhead costs for running the shops are borne in mind. Also, they are quite small. In Chicago, I found the shops to be few but have the most impressive collections of donations. We should follow suit.
On Monday, the three Brits breakfasted together at the Best Western then went their separate ways, which meant I had to move my gear to my alternative hostel, where I stayed for one night. On the way there, I got chatting to a couple on the Red Line, and they ended up coming all the way to the hostel with me and buying me lunch in the next door restaurant, just because I was British. Hell to the fuck yes.
Monday night was taken up with watching the Chicago Bulls kick the Sacramento Kings' ass at the United Centre. I didn't quite understand why every time out period was taken up with cheerleading, mascot racing and pie throwing, but I'm British.
On Tuesday I flew to Winnipeg for a few days seeking more AFS promotion; two radio interviews and three gigs - the latter of which was attended by none other than Kellen! One chap bought a record, had me sign it, then said "Now I need to buy a record player." I also attended an ice hockey match between Manitoba Moose and Abbotsford Heat, and I was sat next to two Heat fans who were very passionate about their game. "Go Heat!" However, it was another game I didn't quite understand - what is the point of each player only being on the pitch for three minutes? And I kept referring to the pitch as the rink. I'm British.
It was a pity no one saw Ian do what he does best and drink himself to sleep, but perhaps next time...

I agree with TFG1Mike that Brosnan should have done one more film, if only to redeem himself from the atrocity of Purvis! Wade! GRRRR!. I've never been a big fan of cinemas, especially now that everything seems to be in 3D. I watched a bit of Avatar and didn't understand the fuss. If a 3D Bond film is ever brought out, I would probably be very disappointed.

So sorry to be rather late off the mark here, but I have been otherwise engaged. I say “almost final confirmation” at the moment because I have not received my tickets yet. Ian has suggested I inform you all of the developments as there might be accommodation sharing opportunities.
Also, as part of my visit to Chicago I will attempt to visit each station on the El as quickly as possible – an unofficial attempt on another system for the Guinness World Record which is applicable to the London Tube and New York Subway. If anyone wants to join me on this, in whole or in part, let me know. The rules are here. The attempt will take place on either Friday the 18th or Monday the 21st.

This is what I always say about The Beatles: Though I respect their place within the history of music, I cannot stand their early work. It's too bubble gummy. Once they broke away from that and got into drugs, however, they took on a sound that's slightly more appealing to me. But even still, most of their music I'd rather ignore.
That's pretty much how I feel about them. There is no denying the influence they have had, and will continue to have, on music since they formed, but their material has never done anything for me. I think I only vaguely like three of their songs. Plus, I tend not to listen to anything that was released before 1979 anyway.

Mr Lubcho - please outline your ideas for the Peniscast. Though I suspect it might be along the lines of the "Blatantly Would" phenomenon with which my friends and I came up a few years back. There is recorded evidence of this - I'll see if I can find it.

It's an interesting one. Personally I have not liked anything either artist has done apart from Seven Nation Army (now the Bond theme could be put over that bassline) but, like Ian, I think it could be good.

Hello all.
I'm Slothian's sidekick on For Your Ears Only. As well as recording with him, I'm also a musician. Boston Dan picked up on my somewhat unique versions of the James Bond themes and asked if I had a CD release due. I actually do have a single out at the moment, though it's on vinyl, but download too, and so I thought I'd tell everyone about it, particularly as it has more relevance on the west side of the Atlantic.
I'm known as AFS in the music world, and my single is called Mothers' Day. The story behind it is as follows:
In the summer of 2001, a cassette tape was discovered amongst various items included with an Amiga 2000 computer purchased at a garage sale in Winnipeg, Canada. On the tape, a man gives instructions to his kids on how to set up their Amiga 2000 which he had just given to them. In the middle of the first side, he breaks from instruction and lets into them for not having sent their mother a Mother's Day card. This is the basis of Mothers' Day Part I. On the second side he continues his instruction until finally ending the recording with an apology. This forms Mothers' Day Part II. The recording's date is estimated at being from the early 1990s. Nothing is known about who this man is.
The record is currently out in the UK and I'm hoping to get it released in Canada, where it will probably have the most impact. You can find out more and listen to some audio by clicking the links below. I'd be especially interested to hear from any Canadians regarding this.

Well, now, it's funny you should mention that, because apart from being Ian's sidekick, I am also a musician. It might not sound like it from the podcasts, admittedly, but I have a single out now in the UK, on which, you might be glad to hear, I don't sing. It's called Mothers' Day and features a sample of a Canadian man from a cassette discovered with a computer bought at a garage sale in Winnipeg. I think you'll find it intriguing. I'll create a new thread in the Off Topic section and put more details there.
