For a presumably pretty young person, you've got awesome shading and gesture. I'd love to see how your art has developed.

Aw thanks! TBH looking back at all of the old justice babies comics I too am pretty impressed by my teen self's handle on gesture XD.

I tend to mostly gravitate towards realism now – in the last few years I've gotten super into figure drawing in particular. I don't know how much of my old style has carried through lol but my drawing insta is @most_appropriate if you want to check it out :)

  2. Veronica Mars

Season 1: It took me a few episodes to get into it, but once it did I thought the season was excellent.

Season 2: Way too many clues that left me extremely confused and I thought the Big Bad reveal in the last couple of episodes came out of pretty much nowhere. At least in season 1 we got to see

Aaron Echolls beating the crap out of people from the very beginning

so the reveal at the end wasn't completely shocking. The season 2 character was starting to become my sister's favorite (though I honestly never really saw the appeal) before we found out they were the bad guy. Still, I enjoyed watching this season overall.

Season 3: Lots of Logan/Veronica, which I liked, but not as much Wallace or Mac, which I didn't like.

Also, I laugh at how badly the town of Neptune wishes it was Palo Alto. The wannabe-Stanford Hearst College, rich people owning software/technology-related companies, the spoiled rich teenagers who think there's nothing else to do in town but drink and do drugs, the actual slideshow about Palo Alto in a season 2 episode...the list goes on. For the record, Palo Alto is way cooler than Neptune, and not just because Neptune doesn't actually exist.

  3. James Franco was at my school today. He was filming random people walking, talking, eating lunch, etc...I wonder if he caught the streakers on camera. (There were five streakers today and I knew all of them. So awkward.)

  4. High school's almost over, I know where I'm living next year, and on Facebook I found a bunch of other Very Potter Musical fans going to Cal in the fall. So psyched for college!

  5. Apparently on Friday President Obama called one of our school's journalism teachers on her cell phone and told her that he was really impressed with our school's journalism program.

I want to be the high school journalism teacher who gets phone calls from the President.

  6. Getting rejected from four colleges in one day is not fun.

On the bright side, I'm currently choosing between UCLA and Berkeley, so I guess I can't complain too much. =)

  7. Wow, our exchange student from Austria could not have picked a worse time to come to California. Heavy rain, a power outage, AND possible trace amounts of radiation? Oy.

  8. Do you know if that applies to their grad school decisions as well? Good to know what day I nay need to drink myself to death. :P

In other news, if we both end up there, awesome! What're you going for?

I'm not sure if it applies to grad school, but I'd think it would, just because Pi Day is a day that everyone at MIT, undergrad and grad alike, should be able to celebrate. =)

Honestly I have very little idea of what I'm going to do in college. Maybe something with writing or something with computers...who knows. How about you?

  9. It made pretty much everyone who believes in teen abstinence out to be a complete moron with actual mental issues.

This was my problem with it too. My concern is not that I think all teenagers should refrain from sex, but there are some (not mentally unstable) people who actually just don't want to do it. Episodes like this one make it seem like every teenager is making with the babies, and that's just not true. Some young, impressionable teenagers who actually do want to remain abstinent might be discouraged by seeing TV episodes like this because it seems like the only people who aren't having sex are either the mentally unstable ones or the people who just don't know exactly what sex is.

  10. This weekend I finally got around to seeing a few episodes of Community. I got the pilot on iTunes free when it came out but never got around to watching more. However, the few episodes that I saw this weekend convinced me to add the season 1 DVDs to my Netflix queue. So far I'm enjoying it and from what I've heard it's a great show, so I have a lot to look forward to. Yay! =)

  11. Everywhere I turn I feel like I keep hearing the same message: Teenagers are reckless. Teenagers make bad decisions. Teenagers hate their parents. Teenagers drink, do drugs, and have sex.

What the hell am I doing wrong here? I've been a teenager for quite a few years now and I'm really not feeling like I can relate to any of the "typical teenage life" crap that comes out of the media. I don't drink or do pot or any shit like that and I really do enjoy spending time with my family. None of my friends have EVER touched alcohol or drugs and yet everywhere else I look people are acting like everyone does that kind of thing and it's totally normal.

In my creative writing class the other day we were reading one of the short stories from James Franco's book (we probably only read it because he grew up here and is now writing stories about our town). The story we read was about a few teenage boys who got drunk and high all the time and oh, woe is them because they live in Palo Alto and doesn't that suck because god, it's so boring to live in a university town where the public schools are actually amazing and everyone's rich and can afford to live comfortably even through the recession. But after we read the story and we were discussing it, people were talking about how realistic it was, and how apparently it's inevitable that teenagers living in Palo Alto in particular will of course be drinking and getting high all the time because there's nothing to fucking do in this town.

First of all, nothing's inevitable, so screw you. I have had plenty of good, SOBER fun with my friends watching movies and playing Monopoly and Pictionary online and none of us have ever found it necessary to supplement our fun with alcohol or drugs. Second of all, don't complain about how life sucks when you live in Palo Alto. There are reasons people pay millions of dollars to live here. Did you fucking notice when the recession hit? Of course you didn't. Why would you? It's not like anyone here was affected by it, not significantly, anyway. Get some perspective, please. If that doesn't interest you, feel free to leave. Someone else who actually enjoys living here can take your place.

So in conclusion: I'm apparently not a normal teenager, James Franco's book sucks, and I am now starting to dislike almost everyone in my creative writing class/my entire grade.

  12. Just in time for Valentine's Day, though that's totally unintentional. We've been meaning to do this one since we came up with the Justice Babies and now we've finally finished it! It's been way too long since we've come out with a new one and that's pretty much entirely my fault because first semester I was too stressed out from college apps to do anything fun. Anyway, done with that. Haha.

This one's called "Impressions." When I was coming up with title ideas, "Impressions" came up in my head, for whatever reason. So then I asked my sister what she thought and she came up with "Impressions," too, without me telling her at all. It was awesome. So we decided to go with that.

    Enjoy!
