    Welcome to the second part of my roundtable / press conference call with Rob Zombie, the director of the upcoming Halloween remake -- which is set for release at the end of August.     First James and Mike answer several e-mails, then they dive headfirst into a steaming pile of BTAS episodes. "Joker's Wild" numbs the brain. "Tyger, Tyger" isn't so bad... depending on who you ask. "Moon of the Wolf" is the worst episode of Batman: The Animated Series, period. Though not as good as the first part, "Day of the Samurai" is sort of okay... yet completely nonsensical. Then there's "Terror in the Sky" with its hints at marital unrest. [ 1:45:17 || 48.1 MB ]

    Born of carnival workers and steeped in 1960s B movies, Rob Zombie got his start in show business as a technician on the seminal show Pee-wee's Playhouse. From there he went on to form one of the most popular heavy metal bands of the 1980s and 90s: White Zombie. The band, named after a Bela Lugosi film, wore Zombie's fascination with horror films on their sleeve and produced four records before disbanding. Zombie later continued his multi-platinum success with his self-titled solo albums, but that too was set aside -- this time for films. In mere weeks, Zombie's re-imagined vision of Halloween, the classic John Carpenter film, will be released. In this very special director spotlight, the director himself will tell you about the forthcoming film and all things Zombie.

    Bad things happen to Mike McGill (former police officer, current private detective, full-time "shit magnet"), and when the White House Chief of Staff visits him, Mike's tendency to walk into unfortunate situations becomes vital to fixing the diseased country America has become. McGill teams up with Trix, a polyamorous punk-goth, and attempts to track down the long-lost "real Constitution" of the United States, meeting a grotesquerie of characters on the way.

    Science fiction and horror, despite popular consensus, don't often cross streams. Too often a guy with a sharp implement chases nubile young coeds through the halls of a space station. He is only bested when the hero locks himself and the killer in the air lock, and jettisons the both of them into the vacuum of space. It is then marketed as the strange little subgenre: horror / sci-fi.

    "Night of the Ninja" explores a small portion of Bruce Wayne's shrouded youth. Nothing makes sense in "Cat Scratch Fever." Once the rogues appear, "The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne" becomes a fun episode. The two-part "Heart of Steel" is remarkable for introducing Barbara Gordon, and for its otherworldly eeriness. And "If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?" finally introduces The Riddler. [ 1:10:35 || 32.3 MB ]

    We've all seen it before: a group of high school friends on a post-graduation last hurrah embark on a road trip into the wilderness. After some marijuana is passed around and beer guzzled down (indulged by all except the reluctant, mentally scarred virgin, of course), the car gets a flat and the camera cuts to a nail belt being dragged across the road. Everyone is okay but nobody seems to know how to change a tire, so they wind up wandering through the middle of nowhere as they are picked off one by one by cannibalistic rednecks. Sound familiar?

    There seems to be a theme to this batch of comic books, that being demons. We have gangsters being devoured by demons (The Darkness: Level 5), as well as demons wanting to molest goth girls (Hack/Slash: The Series #3). Superheroes (one of which is a demon) fight a few demons (Unholy Union), whilst a demon-schoolgirl fights even more demons (Witchblade Takeru Manga #6). That's a lot of demons!
