  1. I remember finding the show a while ago on Youtube. Pretty funny stuff. Yoda’s right though, doing the same shtick for every review gets tiresome after a while. Especially his little swear filled rants; they become more grating and less funny with each new instalment. Still, he does try to mix things up occasionally.

  2. You know, I always liked the original animated Street Fighter movie. It had pretty much everything that I wanted to see in a Street Fighter movie.

Maybe it's because I've been burned by all the shitty video game movies of late, but I don't have high hopes for this movie. If anything though, it's almost guaranteed to be better than the original.

  3. Everybody has different opinions of which Final Fantasy is the best and which is the worst. It sounds like a pretty interesting idea, although I imagine it will take quite some time to complete. I’ve always thought of going back and playing the Final Fantasy entries that I’ve yet to complete, but I doubt I’ll ever get around to it.

I’m curious though, are you going to actively avoid reading reviews for the Final Fantasy titles while you play the series?

  4. Not necessarily, this thread could still be used to talk about PS3, 360, Wii, PSP and DS libraries.

Although I think it might be a good idea to change this to last gen and start up a new topic for new gen libraries, because I’m sure people are still going to buy last gen games over the next couple of years.

  5. I remember Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation being massive dissapointments when I was a kid. I rented out MK:A despite all the terrible reviews thinking "this will be the most awesome thing ever". Man did I set myself up for dissapointment.

A bit off topic, I actually watched BloodRayne recently too, just to say I've actually seen a Uwe Boll film. I actually laughed out loud during several points because of how stupid it was. I can't believe how much unintentional hilarity there is in that movie.

  6. It's hard to say, although I think people overstate how badly the PSP is going. Last time I read, PSP sales are actually doing okay, it’s the games that just aren’t selling. I could go on for a hours to explain all the mistakes Sony has made since the PSP was released; Bizarre advertising, pushing movies ahead of games, eliminating the ability to put programs on the PSP (including those for emulation).

But honestly I still like my PSP, I don’t play handheld games enough to be burnt by the lack of games, so I just get the good titles that come out when I see them.

  7. Just thought I'd say, the DS would not be capable of playing any of the PS1 final fantasies. They'd have to completely redesign the game in order to play it. There's always the possibility that they could be downloaded through the PSOne download service for the PSP (if you ever wanted to play it on that system), but even that is incredibly doubtful.

  8. See I'm actually in the same boat. I'm not going to buy Blu Ray or HD DVD's. I don't see the point in either at this stage, since the improvements over DVD's just aren't that great. Especially for a guy like me who has a pretty crappy T.V.

I never said that smart people were buying the PS3 as a Blu Ray player, I just said that I've heard of people buying it primarily for that use. There are always going to be people with lot's of money who are willing to spend whatever they need to get the latest technology. You're saying nobody is going to buy it as a Blu Ray player, I'm saying there's bound to be a few.

  9. Man, I've just started playing Wild Arms 4 and noticed that there is a pretty big glitch in the PAL version of the game. Certain scenes will not load while it is in the default PAL display mode. The screen will go blank and stay blank.

I'm really pissed off that they let a glitch this big affect the PAL version. If it wasn't for a few message boards I never would have found a way around it.

  10. At this stage I've only played Wild Arms 1, 3 and 4 (I'm not even sure if 2 and ACF even got an Australian release), but I'd have to agree with you. Wild Arms was one of the first RPG's I ever played, and whilst I've always enjoyed the fighting and puzzle aspects, I found the story was really lacking in this one. It's hard to find the motivation to finish it at this point.

  11. The fighting system seems pretty unique. Even for a Final Fantasy. Plus theres a new world, new story, new characters, you know, the usual. I can't really say much for it because I haven't played it (and It won't come to Australia for months) but it does look pretty interesting.

  12. The only positive I can see about the whole Blu-Ray thing is how it will relate to games and the amount of information that can be stored. I don't give a damn about Blu-Ray or HD-DVD movies, because I already have DVD copies of my favourite movies, and I'm not about to upgrade.

The online capabilites are sounding pretty good, and from what I've read Sony are going about it the right way. I still doubt it will be as good as Xbox Live though.

  13. Basically, I concur with James D.

But if we are only talking about the games themselves and not with any add-ons, Sonic 2 wins hands down.

Oh and I should add, I hate Sonic Pinball. Not because of any gameplay issues, just because I could never get past the second level.

  14. I've heard of problems with the X-Box 360 overheating as well.

Still, nothing big has been reported about the PS3 overheating yet. The only real proof is one early model running an unfinished game.
