  1. Mysterio was only booed because he wasn't Bryan.

The company is just in such a weird place right now. This is supposed to be the best time of the year creatively, and instead it feels like watching a company that has no idea what it wants to be anymore. Do they want a tag division, or do they just want mini lucha guys in comedy spots? Do they want to prepare for the future and elevate some people or just continue to ride the same horses until they can't go anymore? A 50 year old grandfather with a facelift won the Royal Rumble after being in for about six minutes.

The Wrestlemania card looks terrible right now.

    Cena vs Wyatt

    Orton vs Batista

    Lesnar vs Taker

    Punk vs Triple H Kane

Bryan vs Sheamus again, I guess?

Goldust vs Cody (which sucks cause they were an awesome team)

The two talented guys from the Shield losing to Roman Reigns in a three way?

Right now, the only draw of the Network is a bunch of shows I've already seen, because the current product isn't worth the money.

    Fixed, and now even worse

  2. As much as the back catalog is a huge selling point for the hardcores, I think that most people will buy this for the PPVs. And that worries me a bit. iPPVs in the past year have not gone well. Granted, WWE has the resources that others do not. But so does the NFL/NBC and their live stream of the Sunday Night games were less than excellent (and some weeks downright god awful). On that end, I will wait at least 3-4 months after launch to hear reviews.

Also, I wonder how fast they will put the newest RAW/Smackdown episodes in the service. With the Hulu deal and upcoming TV rights fees, I cannot see them doing it with any kind of timeliness.

They're using the MLB infrastructure, which I understand is very good (I'm sure you know better than me though), so it's not exactly going to be the ROH disasters.

  3. Regardless of the reasons for Kluwe's release, it's certainly possible that both A): It was in the best interest of the club to replace him from a strictly football standpoint and B) The coaching staff tried to clamp down on him because of his outspokenness and that the STC went out of his way to using homophobic language to needle him. Regardless of if A is true or not, B is 100% unacceptable, and yes I know that it is a regular part of the macho sports culture. It's time to get rid of it.

  4. The Kids on the Slope: One episode in and it is fucking awesome. Picked it up at the Black Friday sale on Rightstuf mainly on the strong recommendation of the guy voicing the lead role (Chris Patton in this case) and the small promo blurb. It has a BECK vibe but with jazz instead of rock, none of the characters completely overlap so it's fresh, and the head staff on it are Shinichiro Watanabe and Yoko Kanno, the animation and music directors (respectively) of Cowboy Bebop. Who does not see this as a good combination?

  5. 1. I bought an elliptical, use it: Pretty self-explanitory. I bought a brand new elliptical on a ridiculous deal on Boxing Day, it currently sits in front of my TV in my living room. I said for years if I had a treadmill or something similar in front of my TV I'd be a fit man, time to put myself to the test on that,

Started well, has fallen off in the last bit, it's still here, sadly currently doubling as a coat rack. Should probably fix that.

    2. No soda until April At Least: Last year I successfully swore off non-diet soda, this year I swear off the rest of it. To make this a less daunting goal I plan to go out with a bang this coming weekend (friend of mine is coming up from the States with a case of Cherry Coke, after that, nothing at least until Anime Detour the first weekend of April. Between this and the elliptical, see how I'm feeling, and if I can go forward without it I will.

Success in that I made it to Detour. Failure in that I snapped back largely to my pre-2012 cola intake.

    3. Anime Detour and C2E2 happen this year: I have the time booked off work for both of them. For Detour I have my admission and all but $40 paid for hotel. Still need to book my flight and pay my share of the hotel but I got 3 paydays in January and only pay half rent so I'm hoping I can get that sorted quickly. There is no reason I shouldn't be able to do this.

    Yep.

    4. Continue to manage money well: I had some positive steps last year but I want to be able to not be completely paycheck to paycheck or desperately awaiting payday like I had in some previous years. I would also like to not squander my tax return like last year (towed car + impulse $300 anime buy kind of ruined that).

    5. A Little more serious on the job search front: This is likely something I will be looking to more after April (due to the fact I have already booked off time for the 2 April vacations). Due to a variety of factors my current place of employment has seen business go down considerably since summer of this year. Many were laid off (I made the cut, hell I was named Employee of the Year), the rest are faced with reduced hours (I have been lucky enough to have faced only a 5-10% decrease in hours). As a result, it may be in my best interest to look elsewhere. Hopefully things turn around, but if not I will look into new jobs (be it other call centre work, or perhaps something that would put my Journalism diploma to full use).

Lumping these two together. I quit my job at E-Care in June due to the ceiling firmly being hit there and moved to another call centre, Mogo, at the suggestion of a friend, one of the supervisors there (Colin of The Oratory Forums infamy). It was a paycut, but there was a lot of overtime available and it appeared room for improvement as well. With the exception of a small number of people it was bad there, and the shifts were worse. It wasn't long before I was missing shifts due to sleep deprivation and on prescription drugs which I hated taking. I was also delayed my start by two weeks, which resulted in me using the retirement savings I had built up (which in all reality amounted to the equivalent of a paycheck) to cover that time. I then switched jobs and am now an elctronics/appliance salesman at Leon's. I am trying to get out of this job soon too and have interviewed elsewhere. Mainly because this is a commission job and business has been terrible. As a result of all this (and maybe going a little too gung ho on my vacations) my finances are not what I want them to be.

Despite not making my resolutions I still feel I had a good year, lots of great memories on the vacations, despite not landing where I want to be I'm happy I am progressing in finding my proper career, oh and my now-girlfriend and I have been together "officially" 9 months and I could not be happier (seriously, a girl that is as big of a hockey and anime nerd as I am, sign me up).

  6. I decided to look back on my resolutions from 2012 only to realize I had not made any so no update there. Since we're only a short time away from the new year I figure it's time to make some new resolutions.

Seriously Kellen, lose some weight: I currently weight 270 pounds, while in past year's I've been ambitious enough to say I can get down to 200 I'm going to go for a more realistic goal of 250, get down there, stay down there and hopefully try to do it without making any drastic changes to my routine.

I weighed in at 263.5 today, so while I did not reach my goal, I did go in the right direction. I attribute this to a near complete abolishing of potato chips and non-diet soda from my diet. Aside from that my diet and exercise routines stayed their crappy selves.

Spend more time with the family: It became very clear to me during the last week spent out at the lake with the family that I have not been out there enough in recent years. Yes after a week or so my family grates on me but I think I spent all of 2 weekends plus the week at Christmas this year. I am planning on taking the week following Ai-Kon off and will likely hit the beach for that week, but I should get out there more than once every six months.

I was out for an extended Easter, the Canada Day weekend, the post-Ai-Kon week in July, Thanksgiving and the week at Christmas. I'd say I did alright.

Save some money for a later day: In the spirit of getting my finances for today and later sorted out I have already decided to put c2e2 on the shelf for 2013, and if things don't change I may need to cancel my plans for Anime Detour as well. In addition I already spend far too much as it is on shit like food out of sheer laziness, not to mention blowing money on video games and such, try to curb that to a degree. In addition I plan to get as many bills as possible set to a bi-weekly paymet (since my rent is already there and it should make everything easier). Between all that and having a tax return that will go to me (as parental debt is all but done) I should have a good deal of funds going forward for 2014 and beyond.

On the one hand, I did set up my retirement fund at work and contribute 5% of each paycheck to it (which is then matched by my company), and due to cut hours at work I was left shorter of cash than expected which doesn't help things. That said I did blow my tax return rather quickly on a parking ticket/impound and a hastily decided on giant anime purchase. As of the end of the year I find myself with something of a budget surplus, my bills are under control, and I should be able to pull off Anime Detour and c2e2 next year (hell Detour is pretty much already paid for). May not be the most decisive win on this list but I did ok I think.

Finally get around to a couple series: I've all but decided on my schedule for Animezing Podcast and as a result I will not be rushed into watching anything just so I can cover it, that said there are a couple thngs that have been on my to do list for some time I need to get through. Hellsing Ultimate OVA and Black Butler, they will be my primary anime purchases of the next year.

I have purchased and watched all available Hellsing Ultimate OVA on Blu-Ray, I have purchased both seasons of Black Butler on Blu-Ray (watched Season 1, got Season 2 for Christmas, so a touch behind). I also was able to buy and/or watch RahXephon, Deadman Wonderland, Haibane Renmei, InuYasha: The Final Act, Chrono Crusade, Kaleido Star: New Wings, Pokemon: Indigo League, Soul Eater, the first 3 Volumes of One Piece and season one of Baka & Test in addition to my Animezing Podcast duties. Throw on that I've picked up Saiyuki, Kids on the Slope and the next 5 volumes of One Piece, in addition to some new entries on Netflix I want to see I am very stoked going forward for my anime watching.

[i[No more delays on Animezing Podcast: One of my biggest pet peeves of myself is I will often delay episodes of Animezing Podcast due to simply running out of time to produce it, I need to give myself more time to get this all done and get everything planned in advance.

No change there sadly, but hey I did get the Advent Calendar in on time. Still need to fix for next year.

Nail it at Ai-Kon: For those that don't know I have landed the MC job for Ai-kon and am back at work on game shows. Without going into major details I got some big plans and I hope they pan out according to plan.

For those that didn't listen to the Ai-Kon podcast, some of my best stuff had to be reworked due to logistics. I thought I did very well in the stuff I scripted, not so well when I decided to wing it, I almost ruined the guest brunch draw and failed to re-secure the position for 2014.

And one last one that is pie in the sky:

Find a baseball loving friend, get a bat and a hockey stick, find Don Fehr: For legal purposes I will not elaborate on this one any further, But I do need someone to help out with this. James? Prof?

The lockout was over withing 2 weeks. Total coincidence. :ninja_shifty:
