  1. The new series seems to have a real problem with Daleks. I sometimes wonder if they've seen the classic Dalek stories at all. Still, I will give them one teeny piece of credit for Daleks in Manhattan; as bad as that story is, they were trying to show the Dalek's as scientists again. I miss the experimental Daleks of the olden days.

  2. My personal lowest point for the series is Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel. I hate every single thing about that two-parter. Soured me a bit to the cybermen too. It's only watching The Next Doctor recently that made me realise that it's the episode I hate and not the new Cybers. But yeah, for me that story is the epitome of the very weakest elements of the new series.

  3. I think it's just like Nintendo's play control releases. A gamecube game with Wii controls applied for people who like that kind of thing. I don't really mind, I mean nobody played them the first time around. They might as well port them to a console that's selling. I still have most of my gamecube versions anyway.

  4. Y'know, I want to love my wii but the damn thing won't let me. It looks rubbish on my best TV, the best games I have for it are ports of gamecube titles and I've spent more on AA batteries than I did on the console. Still, Super Paper Mario is fun.

I used to be an xbox 360 man but inevitable hardware failure has driven me to the PS3 and I'm the most satisfied I have ever been with a games console. No hardware failures for me so far, great games and some great extras. Now, If I could just find a way to cram my dualshock 3 innards into a 360 controller then all would be fine.

  5. Let's see...

    Hartnell:

    The Beginning set

    The Time Meddler

    The War Machines

    Troughton:

    The Mind Robber

    Pertwee:

    Carnival of Monsters

    The Green Death

    Baker:

    Robot

    The Brain of Morbius

    Talons of Weng Chiang

    The Leisure Hive

    Davison:

    Earthshock

....and like a few others have said, a boatload of VHS.

  6. I picked up a PlayTV when they first came out, update the software and it does a great upscaling job. It's an excellent piece of kit (It's on in the background as I type.)

  7. That name change sucks.

Not really; if you look around certain sites you can find a synopsis of the film. It makes a lot of sense with the new storyline they have.

I think TRON is one of those films where you either get it and love it or you don't. I get it and love it. People keep complaining about how the visual effects haven't held up over time, but I honestly think that it only adds to the film, since computers really were that low-tech in the 80s. Hopefully this new film's "modern" world-of-Tron will satisfy all.

I'm anticipating this new film more than anything else right now.

I think Tron does pretty well considering when it was made. Dated effects don't phase me so much as the really poor understanding of what computers actually do. Still, it's a great film.

....but I still think that new name sucks.

  8. Yeah, he's the doctor from my childhood. For some reason he got all the repeats by the BBC after the show was cancelled. Mccoy got the axe when I was two so I was in the first generation not to get their own incarnation. The third doctor was my hero, mainly because he defeated the Sea Devils and they scared the crap out of me at four years old.

  9. Yeah, if the two Cushing movies have one strength then it's that we get to see a lot of elements of not-so-authentic 60s Who with a great picture. I mean, the inside of the Tardis looks like Willy Wonka's testing room but we get to see some great exterior shots. I can't hate those movies though, as a kid that was my first exposure to The Dalek Invasion of Earth. I was Doctor Who mad despite only having some grubby tapes of Planet of the Daleks and The Sea Devils to go on. When I found Invasion Earth it seemed incredible. It wasn't until the TV Movie came along that I figured out the Doctor was an alien.
