  1. I would just like to state for the record that I am painfully and embarrassingly aware that I get the name of the planet completely wrong during my synopsis of Time Squad. I realised my mistake when I was adding the clip and by then it was far far too late. :(

  2. We are going to be making mention of the main cast's appearances in Doctor Who next episode as Time Squad is a low on guest cast.

Didn't know how much work Boucher did on the first series but I can understand it. Writing that many episodes is a big undertaking.

you make a very good point about the time it takes to travel to Cygnus as a bit of a plot hole. The London is 4 months away but the Liberator makes the journey in next to no time which they use to make a point about how fast the ship is but if they travelled that fast they would in fact have made it to Cygnus well before the London and have to spend ages waiting for the old rust bucket to arrive.

  3. And Dave, welcome to the site! (I know you've been around on the forums for a while, but I mean to the mainpage.)

Thanks Mike. Having been a fan of the site of a while it is a little odd to see my name pop up on the front page. But it's a good odd and I'm honoured to be part of the family.

  4. Great show. I'm glad it isn't just me who pines for D84 as a companion. You really summed up my own feelings on that story.

An interesting fact that connects Blake's 7 to this episode. The Face of Evil and The Robots of Death were both written by Chris Boucher who went on to become script editor of Blake's 7 and wrote a ton of episodes including the very last one. Boucher was recommended for the script editing job by a certain Mr Robert Holmes who also ended up writing several episodes of the show including one of my favourites "Gambit"

  5. Sadly unlike Doctor Who most of here in the us will be unable to watch the eps with the hosts as the BBC hasn't released the DVD's over here :(

Oh man, that sucks. Hopefully with Doctor Who getting a bigger following maybe Blake's 7 will get a release.

I hope you all enjoy the show. As I think we mention on the podcast this has been in the pipeline for about a year so it's nice to finally have the show out there.

Hopefully the internet fairy will be generous to you all.

  6. On Her majesty's Secret Service for me I'm afraid. I think Lazonby is an appalling Bond matched against Telly Servallas as an appalling Bloefeld. I think they only cast Sevrallas because he was bald so that would save a bit on the make up budget. Bloefeld's scheme is the most ridiculously convoluted, implausible and lame of the series and Diana Rigg is pretty much wasted as the insipid Tracy.

    Monumental Bollocks

  7. Watched this again today. The chase with the remote control BMW is still one of my favourite sequences of any Bond film. I especially like the moment when Bond presses a button to re-inflate the cars tyres and chuckles to himself. It's just a nice touch of Bond having fun with the toys he gets to play with.

  8. Having listened to all the other Batman movie podcasts I can't deny I was looking forward to hearing this one if only to hear the film get a verbal kicking and gentlemen you didn't disappoint. The relegation of Bane to dim witted henchman has always angered me as it's such a waste of an awesome villain.

Watched it a couple of weeks ago as it was on TV and there wasn't much else on and there are a few other things that bother me that didn't get a mention.

When Batman is telling Robin to pull back from the jump off the statue Batman is talking into a two way radio on his wrist but when Robin answers he's just shouting back at him.

When Poison Ivy makes her big entrance at the ball everyone is swaying like they are transfixed by her BEFORE she blows the whammy love dust at them and then the whole walk up to the stage is so choreographed. Did all those guys get together and just decide to pull those moves spontaneously?

Robin and Batgirl defeat Bane. ROBIN AND FUCKING BATGIRL DEFEAT BANE!

"I want to help Batman and Robin"

"I thought you might say that so I made something in your size. Remember when I wrote to you last month asking for your exact measurements and I got an angry phone call from your mother who threatened me with a restraining order? Well that was for this AND NOTHING ELSE."

All in all a great podcast and as James says Fuck this terrible movie.

  9. I'll wait to see, but right now I'm not sure I buy that Amy Pond was / is a police officer.

I have no issue with her being in uniform. I'm sure that mini-skirt is regulation.

As much as it pains me to say it British police Women have yet to adopt hotpants as part of the official uniform. Fan speculation is that she is in fancy dress possibly on a hen night. What you colonial types would refer to as a bachelorette party.

  10. The design of the Cybermen will stay pretty much as it is now until "The Invasion"

Being a big Jamie fan but not having seen these earlier stories I find it interesting that he initially hasn't made much of an impact. As has been said once Ben and Polly leave Jamie steps up in a big way and the dynamic between him and the Doctor becomes very strong. Partly I think from what they both go through in Evil Of The Daleks. The female companions that follow are designed to fit in with the Jamie/Doctor dynamic but both in very different ways.

As much as I know that you both are endeavouring to use the reconstructions I would strongly recommend you to get hold of the BBC audio version of Evil Of The Daleks. It is how I first encountered the story and I think it stands up very well in audio form even if the audio for the first episode is a little muted in parts. Either way I look forward to hearing your thoughts on one of my favourite Dalek stories.
