Yes. Once Freddy's physical body is destroyed, he reverts to the astral plane... and attacks Wolverine the next night. Even if Wolverine slices Freddy up night after night, he can't kill a psychic being. To really take Freddy down, permanently, he'll need his mentalist allies.

Yup. That's sort of what killed the old Versus forum; several characters (especially Batman and Juggernaut) were reused way too often.

Freddy couldn't hold onto his early lead, and ultimately fell before the one man that's nearly impossible to kill: Wolverine.

And for those of you wondering why Jubilee had to die... she didn't have to. I never said that part of the setup wasn't a dream too. But, since nobody wrote it that way, the spunky teenage remains dead.
