  1. Cable and Deadpool #50, Mighty Avengers #9, Ultimate Human #2, Ultimate X-Men #91 and Wolverine: Origins #22 are the five comic books reviewed this week by Des and Mike. One of these books splits the guys right down the middle. Can you guess which one? [ 56:16 || 25.7 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_195.mp3

    Episode 25

In this episode of Dread Media, Desmond Reddick interviews writer, director and star of the vampire comedy Revamped, Jeff Rector. Then he reviews Dead of Night Featuring Man-Thing #1 from Marvel Comics. Some news and updates on the podcast itself. Tunes include: "Gates of Delirium" by Midnight Syndicate, "Baby You're a Pain in the Neck" by The Cowgirl Wranglers, "Bloodsucking Freaks" by The Browns, "In the Dead of Night" by The Order and "Blood" by Emigrate. RIP Steve Gerber. [ 1:10:46 || 32.4 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/podcasts/dreadmedia...admedia_025.mp3
  3. It's February Previews time! Plus, Jenny and Mike answer a few e-mails, including one about slumping Amazing Spider-Man sales. Mike also plays a very amusing review recorded by Rob Briscoe from the Uncanny X-Cast. [ 1:04:34 || 29.5 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_194.mp3
  4. Before the Peter Milligan / Mike Allred reboot, the only time I read X-Force was when issues tied into larger events, such as "Fatal Attractions," "Phalanx Covenant," the Onslaught saga and "Operation: Zero Tolerance." Maybe it was the impossibly large guns, exaggerated bodies or silly poses, but of all the X-books Marvel was publishing, X-Force was the one which never caught my eye. Even when the series hit the road and made the Liefeld era a thing of the past, I couldn't be bothered to care. So then, why did I buy into the hype leading into this new X-Force series? And more importantly, did the first issue live up to the hype? The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/marvel/x-men/x-force-01

  7. This week Des and Mike took a look at Fantastic Four #554 (the first of 16 issues by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch), Fantastic Four: The Lost Adventure (a hidden "gem" by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and friends), Ghost Rider #20 (in which Jason Aaron and Roland Boschi began their run), Marvel Adventures Hulk #8 (starring the Defenders) and Punisher: Force of Nature (wherein the Punisher stalks three men lost at sea). Episode 24

In this episode of Dread Media, Desmond Reddick steps on broken branches and pushes brush out of his face while the wind stirs up terror. He also holds back his unexplainable nausea to review Forest Primeval and Hell's Ground (Zibahkhana). Tunes include: "Doctor Finkelstein / In the Forest" by Danny Elfman (The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack), "Forest" by System of a Down and "Tree of Woe" by Basil Poledouris (Conan the Barbarian score).[ 44:16 || 20.2 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/podcasts/dreadmedia...admedia_024.mp3
  9. The original Youngblood wasn't a good comic. We all know this, so let's not pretend otherwise. Yeah, yeah. Upon debuting, it might have sold over a million copies, but sales don't indicate quality. If that were the case, Joe Casey wouldn't have re-scripted the original series for the forthcoming hardcover. (See, even Rob Liefeld knows the book sucked.) So then why does it keep coming back? Do people like the concept and characters? Do they associate the title with an exciting era? Or is it that they like to see train wrecks, and figure anything with Youngblood for a title is destined for Derail City? If it's the latter, I have bad news for you: this new Youngblood series is a smooth ride. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/image/you...d/youngblood-01
  10. Until recently Witchblade wasn't on my radar. To me, it was just another cheesecake book spawned in the 1990s. That it lasted this long was a surprise. Whereas most other female-led books from that era faded away after an initial burst of popularity, Witchblade currently has 115 issues in the can -- and the forthcoming creative team has committed themselves to the title until #150, so obviously Top Cow is doing something right. Yet I still wrote it off, longevity be damned! The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/image/wit...lade-witch-hunt
  11. At last, the time has come for James and Mike to discuss Superman: The Animated Series! First up, the three-part origin story "The Last Son of Krypton." [ 1:40:37 || 46.0 MB ] The above is from: http://www.worldsfinestpodcast.com/episodes/wfp_021.mp3
  12. Annihilation: Conquest #4, Moon Knight #15, Ms. Marvel #24, Omega: The Unknown #5 and Silver Surfer: In Thy Name #4 are the five books the guys reviewed this week. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/iiwy/iiwy-029
  13. Of the five comics Des and Mike reviewed this week -- Clandestine #1, Lords of Avalon: Sword of Darkness #1, Marvel Illustrated: Moby Dick #1, The Twelve #2 and Uncanny X-Men #495 -- it's suggested that two be added to your pull list, and one is said to be a "modern classic in the making." Also, a Marvel Illustrated book finally impresses both men. [ 1:03:14 || 28.9 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_192.mp3

  16. This week the plan was to review Madrox: Multiple Choice, the miniseries that launched the superbly written X-Factor. But then I realized my hardcover collection would be arriving next week, and I'd much rather review it after having said book in-hand. (Oh how I can't wait to crack it open!) So then I thought about covering Witchblade: Witch Hunt, the collection Top Cow recently sent me for review. I even went so far as to start a review, but then I lost the damn file. Discouraged and not wanting to start over, I searched for something else. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/dc/vertigo/fables-01

Tunes include: "Dead Babies" by Iced Earth, "Midnight Train" by Ghoultown, "Goin' Down to Dunwich" by The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, "Spectral Mist" by Midnight Syndicate, "The Eaters of the Dead" by The Order of the Fly and "He's Back (the Man Behind the Mask)" by Alice Cooper. 23. James Deaux returns with the third installment of his wildly popular Symphony and Animetallica AMV series.
